This is the TC Electronic Flashback X4, an expanded version on the versatile flashback delay! The X4 maintains a simple layout and intuitive controls that make for quick and accurate time changes. All previous TC Flashback delay modes are included along with 2 new tape flavors, Tube and Space. The Flashback X4 provides 4 Toneprint slots which you can load via USB or beam with your smart phone app. Secondly, there are 3 presets buttons which easily let you store and recall every parameter. User Presets may be from any mode, including Toneprints. Tap tempo is now included with a dedicated switch and a familiar subdivision toggle allows for easy selection between quarter, dotted eighth and dual delay sounds. Finally, an expression input allows for single or multi parameter manipulation and MIDI connectivity let's you sync other devices and access presets remotely.
I've seen this guy in so many videos, with so many pedals I like, that I even feel him closer than most family.
You just took the thought off my mind! His demos sound the best! Such a great taste. Have you seen him trying the DL4 from Line 6? Anyone? Cheers!
Most family - awesome. Though most family can't shred like Andy!
So sorry
Anyone who opens their video with a Dead Kennedys riff is a hero to me.
Finally someone who plays decent music in a guitar pedal demo! Thanks for that.
A little esoteric Jimi Hendrix from the bottom of the sea. I have missed your playing Andy! Glad to see you again. And Dead Kennedys...hell yes.
functionally speaking, this might be the very best and most well rounded delay pedal available today.
That peice at the end is a magnificent composition.. I'm blown away.
Andy is such a great player, he has such a strong sense of time.
He makes every pedal he plays sound the very best it can!
best ever recorded by Jimi, i always wonder how Jimi have all these ideas and how he recorded all this great sounds from that era. Legend.
I just bought this pedal and absolutely love it. I love the looper option! Great bonus on an awesome pedal. Great design and easy to use. The warmth of the delays are blowing my socks off!
Man Dead Kennedys... 1983 by Jimi Hendrix... You're awesome Andy!
perfect song choice to demonstrate the Delay effect
"You just heard the Flashback x4" No Andy... We heard your glorious, glorious guitar playing.
I just like having these videos run in the background so I can listen to Andy play while I work.
1983 (A Merman I Shall Turn To Be) my fav hendrix tune, thanks sooooooooo much. you didn't just do an awesome pedal demo, but also gave a lot-needed cover lesson of this song. true genius.
Recorded in 68' for non Hendrix fans ("1983" part of the song title).
1983 by hendrix!!!! awesome andy.......perfect demo for this beast of delay
I came to find out about this pedal and learned to play Holiday In Cambodia!? Andy is my hero
Yes, there are plenty of non-modulation delays like the 2290, Analog, Dynamic and Lofi. You can also find a wide variety of Toneprints with or without modulation. Thanks,
PGS
Thanks Andy for putting out the best product demos... I'll wait for the PGS Flashback x4 though ;)
I give this a thumbs up just for the Dead Kennedys riffage!
Opening with DK... sold it for me ha. Just bought one. Love it.
Any time a video starts with Dead Kennedys it's going to be amazing.
I love my Strymon Timeline but WOW. TC Electronic just made the DL4 over again, but this time it's the way everyone has always wanted the DL4 to be and with far better sounds and some crucial added features. And for $250 new??? This pedal will become a favorite of delay users without question. Not the Timeline, but probably the middle ground everyone has been looking for. 10 out of 10.
Excellent song choice! Dead Kennedys! Cool pedal, too.
Andy must feel great to know every song ever created by mankind
Tonight's the night we got the truck!
I've got mine plugged into a Modtone Power Plant and it works fine. It's an incredible pedal at a crazy price.
ProGuitarShop reviews are the official pedal reviews of UA-cam lol
Very sweet ending... Andy makes everything sound good.
The X4 has expression pedal control for any parameter (delay, feedback, mix).
Yes it will. Make sure you have the latest firmware update that ensures presets will be stored when using a 3rd party DC adapter. Thanks,
PGS
thanks for ruling it on Holiday in Cambodia.
Really moved by this products which output incredibly nice sound, And i really like Hendrix tune Mr.Andy plays.
So nice and cool playing. Just my cup of tea!! And yes I have one of those flashback x4. Great pedals!
True. He uses his index finger nail a lot so it sounds like a pick ,pretty much. the "advantage" of it is being able to quickly switch from a "pick sound" to a regular, smoother fingerstyle playing.
I hope that TC Electronic makes a Univibe pedal one day. That would be awesome.
Just bought this. Didn’t feel I needed the Mash feature, so got this for £100 in pristine nick.
1983 by Hendrix! Awesome!
I have the triple delay ,I love this pedal, super versatile
Loved the Jimi 1983... A Merman I Should Turn to Be
The intro song is Holiday in Cambodia by The Dead Kennedys if anyone was wondering.
you blew me away with those sounds wow
sweet, nice bit of holiday in cambodia. your reviews are always awesome.
Oh my God!!!! 1983!!! A merman I should turn to be! Andy is a GOD!!!
Nice! Some Holiday in Cambodia to start everything out! 👍
That was one legit demo. I want the guitars almost as bad as the pedal!
Man was that finger blur at the end with the finger staccato? Outstanding Andy🎸👍
Mother of delays! I have the original Flashback and it's a fantastic little pedal. I even retired my EHX Memory Boy. I'd definitely go with this one if I had the need for more specific delay uses... and if I had the money... and pedalboard space...
Extra bonus cool points for demoing with a Dead Kennedy's tune!
I'm sold, you Had me at the intro, then the space echo woah *Flashback* appropriate name.
I was back and forth on the Strymon Timeline and Flash Back x4.. The Flash Back is amazing bought it at GC I replaced my DL4. 4x just sunds so Organic, The Strymon is nice but very Digital. All great Delays But for the price and tone X4 is amazing guys. You will love it. Get it put it on your pedal board. Fun to Jam alone with the 40 Second Looper, Helps me Write songs. Pair it with a Space Eventide, or a Cheap Behringer Reverb and you will be amazed.. One Love!
That Hendrix 1983 riff is intoxicating
Amazing choice of first song!
Word! a gear demo with a DK's song! SUBSCRIBED!
Amazing, guitar, machine and player.
best revieew ever of pedals
The intro was SICKKK!
really nice fuzz sound
Yeah I'm not sure if he's the absolute best pedal reviewer but he's probably the best musician among pedal reviewers. Great repertoire, not just a bunch of blues licks. The music is actually worth hearing.
also, love this pedal. with its tap tempo and exp-pedal, its super versatile! luch sound aswell
Been to school for a year or two and you know you’ve seen it all
very nice presentation and playing, congratulations , Andy !...
Yeah Holiday in Cambodia!!!
Very nice.
PERFECT!!! You are the king of the internet.
I love this guitar! excelent review!
lol I was not expecting DK
+ fx loop like the Timeline!!! That would just be AWESOME!!!!
Holiday in Cambodia! Yeah Andy! Keep it up!
worth just listening to...such nice playing.
Great DK medley!
Very nice flashback!
Respect Andy! Dead Kennedys rules!
i almost burn a joint with the space delay demo!

It's Holiday in Cambodia (Dead Kennedy's) mate :)
Really nice demonstration.
I love this Legacy!
Great selection of tunes!
We use a universal M-Audio expression pedal. Thanks!
PGS
Hopefully!
Just when you thought Andy couldn't get any cooler - Dead Kennedys
Yep, I'm sold.
Awesome to hear 1983
This dude is so good..
Answering a question posted so, time ago, the song at 5.28 is Pink Floyd's Run (Like Hell) drop D tuning
nice playing as always sir.
1:18, GLORIOUS!!
The type of power it uses is 9 volt, but it requires 300 milliamps of 9 volt power. (as opposed to say less than 100 milliamps, such as a regular Flashback 1 pedal... or less than 200 milliamps, such as a Boss DD-20 for example)
The most 9 volt current my dedicated BBE Supa Charger multi pedal power supply will do is 200 milliamps per outlet.
Holiday inn Cambodia.. ...nice!!!
keep listening to that Jimi Hendrix part. damn that is good!
You had me at Holiday In Cambodia....
yeaaaa best part from the best album from Jimi.
That's funny... the song I always play when testing delay pedals is Police Truck.
I really like TC. They have superb digital delays (they made the 2290 after all). I had a Nova for a couple years before my TimeLine. It was a good delay for me. I wish they would have designed a Nova Delay mk. II instead of this. The x4 is a good delay, but it's too big in my opinion. If the Nova had midi, I would buy one to pair with my TimeLine's dTape, Filter, dBucket, etc. I would like a good digital delay with midi clock sync for complex sounds.
I always ask for the impossible. :/
it's on Guitarcenter and musiciansfriend online, order mine yesterday :D
GREAT DEMO!!!, I wish you could make one with bass just to see how it reacts to
low frequencies.
Only reason I could't use this pedal is because it requires 300 ma of current draw, and the most my board supplies per outlet is 200. Awesome looking pedal.
I don't think this thing would sell too well if you had to redo your presets after sitting for an hour or so and getting just the right tone haha. I'm sure it saves the settings. :)
Great video! I've been looking a new delay pedal, you guys should review the VOX Delaylab, I think it could compete with this, and I would LOVE to see what Andy could do with it!
@greendayforever2k9 I don't really think the TC Hall of Fame would need an X4 version. Simply because the only thing it would add is 3 additional toneprint slots. The Flashback X4 also has a looper function, tap tempo, and several other new editions. I personally think a combination of the flashback and the hall of fame would be awesome.
HOOOOOOOLIDAAAAY IN CAMBODIAAAAAA ^_^ @ the beggining ;)
Holy shit, "Catch A Star"! Props.
