First video I saw of you. Absolutely wonderful review, taking the time and not just showing off your skills, but actually exploring the sounds. Wunderschön gemacht!
I truly enjoyed your TC FB2 review, got here to find out more about this pedal and didn't expect to last the entire video, but then - I just did :) Thanks for that, enjoy music, life, and everything pretty much! Cheers
Just a heads up for people thinking about buying this pedal. As an owner of the original Flashback, I recently bought the Flashback 2 so that I could make use of the external tap tempo jack. However, I was disappointed to hear that the FB2 did NOT sound as good as the FB1, to the extent that I unfortunately had to return the FB2 for a refund. The FB2 is a tad more open sounding, but the repeats are thinner and just weak sounding compared to the FB1. Also, the FB1 creates a subtle and pleasant pad-like sound when the repeats are turned up high, whereas on the FB2 the repeats just 'thin out' without creating any kind of ambient oscillation. NOTE that I set both pedals up exactly the same within the toneprint editor, and even had confirmation from TC Electronic that the circuit was tweaked for the FB2. I was really gutted about this because I was desperate to have an external tap!
Legendary rock guitarist Lita Ford uses the mini version of TC Electronic's Flashback delay for many years after she decided to discontinue using the Boss DD-3
I'm a Bass Player & I plan on getting the Flashback on my pedal board. It'll sound intense with my Soundblox 2 Dimension Reverb & the Chase Bliss Automatone. Also happy it has a looper!!!!
Now they're making X4 versions of these new TC pedals. You can have an external tap jack using the stereo in that's enabled using the Toneprint Editor. The trade-off is you can't have a true stereo pedal run into the FB2 while that is enabled, but if you run mono for your delay, you're not going to mind!
The pedal I use the least. The pedal I love the most. I have the flashback x4. I’d definitely recommend that over the small one if you have the money, and space on the board. And as always, good review Henning! Keep up the good work!
@@jjs8426 In every way shape of form you could ever imagine honestly lol. This pedal is incredible but if there's one thing it definitely nails it's that the eighth note option is everywhere.
I bought the HOR2 and was blown away. I considered the FB2 and was on the fence thinking it was a one trick pony. Dude, you just made me VERY happy that the Flashback2 is arriving in a few days. Thank you for this awesome breakdown. Now, where do I find a prairie dog shirt??
I like you, dude; you have the most comical reviews on the net. Gonna have to subscribe. I was hoping to hear a stereo demo with this pedal. Can you do ping pong in stereo with this pedal??? Maybe in a tone print???
Great video - instructional and entertaining! Haha, even the facial expressions helped to get your point across...Thanks for showing the editing screens and options. Yours is the first review of many I have seen that show what you can do with the edits. Frankly, the first comprehensive review I have seen. Wondering, can you apply the delays while using the looper??
I bought this a few months ago and absolutely love this pedal. The only drawback is the lack of an on board tap tempo switch or button. I would have rather had that than the Mash option, but the Mash option is pretty cool. Another great demo!
I assume FB2 has the same "tap" function as FB1; where you press and hold the bypass switch and then strum the tempo. Really great compromise IMO :) EDIT: It actually say you can do the above in the video. Your problem has been solved ;)
Yes, I forgot about that. I couldn't get it to work properly for whatever reason and moved on to all the other features...that I love of course. And then posted this. lol ;) I'll have to go back and try again. Tx
@ Cort Now I remember why I moved on. When you press down on the switch w/ the pedal on, the mash feature kicks in. The instructions would make sense on FB1 since there is no mash. Not sure what I could be doing wrong. Press and hold simply turns the mash feature on. I have tried pressing down lightly, etc. lol Anyhow, thanks for chiming in.
TC, build a tap tempo switch with USB connector, and with a small firmware update, all pedals of this series will have tap tempo, MASH and stereo operation at the same time.
Hi. Do you know how to save my TonePrint in the pedal? I did it hundred times but all my setups (delay time, feedback) are automatically changing to the real pedal knob position when I’m clicking the save button. Can you help me please? Thanks
Can the looper STORE your loop(s)? As far as I can see it has no store option whatsoever and empties as soon as you switch to a different effect and doesn't allow you to store your loop before you switch away. Surely best to use Flashbcak 2 with a separate, standalone looper? Love the eccentricity of presentation style and the super-technical use of advanced terminology such as 'pitchy thing'. Bell rung.
Hello all_ i get recently a FB2 but it's on kill dry mode ON anytime (doesn't play the first hit) even if I change the settings! Do you think it's a fabrication problem? Thank you
@TCelectronics PLEASE guys make the toneprint apps better already. Make it so that we can share our toneprints with eachother at least. Also, if anybody reads this with more knowledge about how making toneprints works and mathrock guitar tones. I've been trying and failing to make a reverb tone for the HOF2 mini reverb that gets close to the reverbs used by people like the UA-camrs and Artists Ichika or LetsTalkAboutMathRock. I know they use Walrus or Mercury 7 reverbs with plate setting of some kind but i just don't know how to get it to sound right. Anyway, I still like this pedal and use it all the time but I just wish the community was able to share their creations on the app itself or that there was a community around Toneprint at all. I feel like if TC put more effort into making the app, tools, and website better as well as easier to understand then more people would buy these pedals.
I wish there was a way I could update my flashback x4 to be able to do the smooth pitch changing delay time thing. That's why I want to invest in the emor ss stuff because they keep updating the firmware.
Torn so much between this and the Canyon, can anyone tell me what settings let you tap tempo passed 800ms? Read somewhere that one or two of the analog settings don't allow you :(
Sorry, but setting tempo by strumming the guitar DOES NOT work on the FB2 as it did on the FB1 and thats too bad. You can tap tempo but you must firstly disengage the mash fonction. Too bad again.
Best review I've seeon on this pedal. The company should be paying you for this, cause I'm sold.
they did pay me for this!
I come for the awkward humor and stay for the honest reviews.

this video is what pushed me over the edge to buy one. thank you! totally under-rated pedal. the toneprint software is really amazing.

Just FYI the audio tempo thing is only the OG Flashback, for the Flashback 2 you need an external tap tempo switch plugged into the stereo in jack
Henning, you need to review modular synths. This would be the best thing ever
I was on the market for a cheap delay and a cheap chorus.
I'm buying this instead.

Have the pedal. It doesn't have UNDO on the Looper. If you make a mistake, you need to do it all over again. Correct me if I'm wrong.
is the looper stereo out?
I like my Flashback Mk 1, but I already have several different delay pedals to fulfill certain tonal needs. Is it worthwile to upgrade?
I have version 1, the most used pedal in my playing. Get it, or get the ver.2, thank me later. Absolute beast of a pedal.
