Can't you just put the foil in microwave? I heard that wasn't a thing anymore. I tried it once and it isn't seem to do anything. But I grew up with microwaves popping off you put metal in them as well, so I still don't.
If your microwave has a defrost setting you can whan them in untik they are 90% defrosted then sear in butter on medium high without flipping until you have a nice brown crust!

Then microwave or heat in the oven to warm up. I find it better this way because when you defrost in the microwave you sometimes get some hot bits and some cold bits

Get your onions in first, cook them on low heat for a good 10 mins to get them sweet. Turn the heat up for your meat to get good colour on it. I'd also get some bell peppers and jalapenos into them. When you wrap a burrito, you need to tuck the first fold into the food to seal it.
Great recipe - the laughing cow cream cheese really makes a nice beef sauce. I added a can of black beans, some shredded carrot (basically dissolved into the sauce), a green pepper, and some sweet corn. Was able to get a couple extra burritos in volume. Very delicious.

Tip from a Mexican. To add a more pliable and tastier tortilla; throw in the stove stop or in a pan and let in cook. If you're using just the stove top flip every 5 secs and ensure your rotating it to get it charred evenly (but don't burn it). If a pan is used cook each side for 30-45 sec until brown spots or dark charred spots form. When you go to make your burrito it'll be super pliable and tastier. Also to go off what someone said about the parchment paper then foil. Yup, I agree and also if you know for a fact you're gonna eat it then take it out and stick in the fridge to defrost the day before or 6 hours.
This is definitely a meal prep that makes sense for me. Breakfast burritos came out perfect. It heated quickly in the microwave and then I grilled the outside real quick for a nice texture....it didn't taste like it had even been frozen
These are great, I meal prep them all the time. Never bother freezing them as they're usually gone by the end of the week, I keep the tortillas in a ziplock bag, the beef sauce in a container in the fridge and then roll them as needed. One note, for me they're a bit hard to stomach on their own so I add some greens (salad, spinach) or some sliced carrot in the burrito and a glass of kefir, butter milk or yogurt on the side.
i love that you have "real foods" that don't take a bunch of weird ingredients to make. also that your portion sizes are appropriate. theres a "low calorie" channel i used to follow that makes the most incredible stuff but you only get to eat a tiny percent of it to stay low calorie. keep it up!
I always add black beans, corn and red peppers into my burrito mix for added nutrition. I add turmeric to my meat sauce as well to add even more benefits. Great video. Thanks.
Couple additions I would make here: 1. Add some more vegetables into the mix. Bell pepper, carrots, spring onions or zucchini all add a miniscule amount of calories but add a lot of volume and make the whole thing a lot healthier and also add a lot of flavour. 2. If they aren't frozen anymore, I would throw them in the air fryer for a couple of minutes. The tortilla gets super crispy with that method, which is a plus in my book, since regular wraps taste pretty bland otherwise.
Great recipe, will try this at some point. In my preference, I'd add two servings (200 kcal) of veggies, like few hundred grams of bell pepper, carrots, corn etc, just for volume.
That would give you a total of 700 calories. That's way to much for your first meal. Unless you are on a bulk. But to lose weight. Definitely not good.
@@frogmanpipes9561 I meant 200kcal in total in whole recipe, not for every single torilla. (3080+200)/6=546,6kcal. Also, 700kcal for one meal is not that much. In my previos work I had to walk around 25k steps a day and went to gym 4 times a week. I ate 3100kcal for gaintaining. 4 meals with 700kcal would be a cut for me in those days. What I mean is that it always depends on situation, there are people who like to eat more in breakfast and less in dinner and vice versa.
@@ModrisG not to sound harsh or like a tool. But the fact that you mentioned that you walked 25k steps in a day. Just at work. That's just under 13 miles. It's been proven that the amount of steps a person does in a day. Is just a facade. And it doesn't really add up to anything. Just the basic 10k steps only burns around 300 calories. One of the the burritos in the video is 500cal. Not taking sodium, carbs, ect into consideration. This doesn't leave any room to have a balanced meal. Your calorie intake is thrown out the window. If it's not balanced.
@@frogmanpipes9561 You'd had to be 50kg to only burn 300 calories with 10k steps. I do not believe you from you words nor can I find anything on google that it's just a "facade" to walk more during your day. It's a rather vague statement anyway. What I think you meant to say is that walking more than maybe 10k steps during our day does not increase our health or longevity. Not taking more than 5k steps during a day is unhealthy, and I feel like that is pretty logical and obvious. Taking 25k steps instead of 10k is a huuge increase in physical activity in my opinion.
Made this for the first time today. To be honest with the limited amount of ingredients I thought this was too good to be true. I thought it wouldn't taste like much or fill me up cause theres no vegetables. But I really love it. I made 5 wraps and ate the last one for lunch. I can see myself making this again! Thank you
I was hesitant to try these burritos because I love a very traditional rice and bean burrito and thought that this would just taste like a beef and tomato wrap. I couldn't have been more wrong. I used fat free mozzarella instead of reduced fat on accident, but even then the texture is just spot on. Amazing burritos, thanks for sharing!
Good idea. There are large wraps with a quarter of the calories (about 50 cal) and you can get away without any olive oil since beef typically can cook itself in it's fat, even at incredibly low fat percentages.
I like your meat sauce choices. One of the great things about burritos is that the sky is the limit on fillings. I used to make them with brown rice, pinto beans, onions, black olives, spinach and grilled chicken and a spice mix I make (equal parts cumin, adobo powder, chipotle powder, and chili powder). I then would make a béchamel cheese sauce and cover them. Those we'd cut in half (they were the 11" tortillas) and store them in individual reusable plastic containers. I need to start making those again. But love burritos because you can just have so many options with the filling. For bigger burritos like this, the foil makes eating it easier, but it's more waste as well (yea, a sheet of foil is pretty minimal).. We make burritos, but we roll them and stack them on a plate and put them in the freezer. Once they freeze, then we put them in a Ziploc bag. So not quite as convenient to eat, but a tad less waste.
You should cook your mince in a bigger pan and for longer. There was no colour on it, which means the pan was overcrowded and the heat wasn't high enough as a result. It was basically steamed in its own water content because it hadn't evaporated. Losing loads of flavour doing it your way. Same goes for the onions. Fry them in the same pan after you pull the mince out. Then add everything back together with the sauce.
My exact thoughts, the difference is night and day for flavours. Also, if you don't have a big enough pan, just cook the mince in batches. And lastly, not stirring the mice for a while after you first put it in the pan will give a sort of caramelised crust like you get on a steak.
Also never drain - it takes longer to cook mince than you think, the pan needs to be searing hot & leave for a good while to colour - poor out into dish with a paper towel in after cooking to grab any fat that remains.
Thanks for the cooling the filling tip. I also love that parchment paper tip in the comments section. My rolling technique is slightly different, Roll the tortilla over the filling and pull back to compress the filling and shape it evenly into a tube. Gets all the air gaps out of your filling and makes a round tube shape. Then fold in the sides and roll over the rest. Voila, your filling will stay put and if you did it right it won't drip anything out of the ends.
@@thecoolguy117 you're folding the sides first and then folding it over. Try folding it over the the top of the filling first, almost in half. Until the bottom of the tortilla touches the top. Then press the filling from the center out either end and pull back compressing the filling. Then fold in each end and finish rolling. The trick is to match the amount the amount of filling to your tortilla size so you can fold the ends over enough to seal it. When I make this end fold move, I'm compressing the loose filling at either end to get more tortilla to fold the sides in. The last roll holds it in place. Try smaller amounts of filling and then you work your way up to stuff it fuller when you get the hang of how big you can make it. I also will sometimes take cheese slices as my bottom layer before I put the filling in. So when you reheat it later you have this melted cheese section.
@@umamifan no one likes the inside of your burrito leaking down onto your clothes. It should hold whatever you got going on inside. That's key to a good tight roll-up!
I came to your channel because of the very easy recipes for the week when you don't have a lot of time and love them. From a flavor perspective I'd suggest letting the meat and the onions get some caramelization and color. This will give you even more flavor without any extra calories. Thank you for the videos!
You could just freeze the cooked meat in portions, and just heat up a fresh tortilla in a pan (you can do it in the microwave, but the best texture and flavor comes from heating up in a pan), reheat the meat in three microwave and assemble. Heating up tortillas on a pan takes no time, and you'll never end up with soggy tortillas.

I’ve done this 3 times now and absolutely love having a tasty, filling breakfast in a couple minutes! I thought I’d share a few tips I’ve learned after doing a few batches of these: the scrambled eggs take the longest to heat up in the microwave, so make sure to really break up the eggs really small so there’s more surface area and they don’t end up cold while everything else is blazing hot. If you have a microwave with power settings, I’d recommend lowering it to half power and cooking twice as long. It’s a more gentle heating and usually turns out better.
Thank you! We caramelize the onions first then add brown rice, black bean, sweet corn, added chili mix and little bit of cayenne to spice it up. Found healthy tortillas without canola oil. It's a low carb, spinach & herb tortillas that has olive oil in which is healthier than canola. We defrost and sprinkle cheese on and heat in the oven.

I do a very similar recipe, but I often also add in about 500 g of frozen vegetables - adds calories I guess, but the added vitamins and nutrients are good, plus it adds a little to the flavor. Usually the meat flavor is still the most prominent (unless you put too much in I guess haha).
Thanks for reminding me about La vache qui rit cheese. I used to eat it when i was younger but i never noticed the calorie value of each cheese triangle. Very nice and informative videos! Keep it up!
its crazy how a beef, cheese, and onion mixture can have low calories and be high in protein. i will try this out with a bit of red peppers, green peppers, jalapeneos, and any other high density low mositure vegetables. i really want to offset the heavy beef flavor.
I do similar but actually use Mexican ingredients. Salsa and beef or Turkey with cheddar cheese. The cream cheese is definitely the secret weapon. Thanks for the video
Cheddar is english ..you should be doing manchego my man! Whole other level. And make the tortillas yourself ..so worth it the difference it makes. Packaged tortillas stink like old feet.
Add some brown rice if you like, use Mexican spice based tomato sauce, try Cotija cheese, finely diced green peppers and jalapenos. Really a good base recipe that you can up the Ole! in. I love burritos, but the store ones are hit and miss for flavor, at times cost prohibitive along with the mystery meat and ingredients. Great idea.
I lost 102 pounds weight from eating only these, only my breakfast was different, for breakfast I have oats, banana, peanut butter and yoghurt and mix it all together. I was 267 pounds and today I'm 167 pounds bodyweight. I wrap them in baking paper first and then wrap it in tin foil, it stops the tin foil sticking to it and then I just defrost them in the baking paper.
Thanks for this awesome receipt. I cooked it yesterday for the first time and it tastes amazing. As the Rewe in my town didn’t have the laughing cow I changed it with Philadelphia Frischkäse.
So we can place the hot mix straight into the fridge, correct? This is amazing, no more eating crappy foods at work! Lunch prer for winter has become a whole lot easier *bows down*
Came out great!! Very delicious! However, for the Americans watching this video, remeber that an American yellow onion is HUGE compared to European/organic produce, look how big the onions are compared to his hand in the video, they're small. I used about HALF of ONE onion in mine and it came out great, using two whole American onions would have been catastrophic.
Conceptually this is really good for an easy weekday meal, but I am begging you to use some more spices like cumin and cayenne pepper lol I'll probably end up making this myself, but I think it could stand to benefit from more veg, like sweetcorn and bellpepper. Some of the meat could be substituted for beans as well.
So the one extra step I would take is.. after defrosting the burrito I would have to shallow fry it in a pan & make the tortilla nice & toasted for that extra flavour & texture 👌🏼
I always do the onions first… otherwise they steam over the meat. If you put them in a little oil first they taste better. After that add spices of your choice and garlic.. mix for a minute.. then once the water from the onions is all evaporated add the meat on high heat.. you want to sear it.. not boil. Don’t put too much meat all at once otherwise it steams . Who likes boiled meat? Lol then add some chopped tomatoes.. plenty of salt, pepper, a teaspoon of sugar lower the heat and let if cook on low heat. Of course you can add peppers with the onions.. and even beans together with the chopped tomatoes. Also the spices I like are paprika, or smoked paprika, with cayenne pepper, cumin and ground coriander. Herbs wise I like marjoram right at the end . And can also add a bit of lemon or a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to balance the taste. Bloody hell.. got carried away. Meant to post something quick and simple that tastes amazing but wrote a poem. Stick with the video 😂
I built on this recipe and turned into breakfast burritos. I add 1/2 lbs sweet or hot Italian sausage to the beef, I small dice half green and red bell pepper, and add spinach at the end. Few tips on the cook. Cook the onions first to get a nice caramelization instead of adding to the beef. More flavor. I’ll add the diced peppers right before the onions are caramelized and set this entire thing aside once onions caramelized. Then caramelized the meat on its own in same pan as onions and peppers. While meat cooking scramble eggs and cook separate and set aside. When meat done then add onion peppers, and spinach. When spinach wilted down turn off heat add eggs and cheese(I shreds sharp cheddar). Increased Protein and flavor profile to the next level.
I find cooking onions before the meat works better for me. I like to add a little butter and sugar and let them caramalize a bit before adding the meat to them. Or removing them completely and adding them back to the meat mix after its nearly cooked through
Just subbed dude. I saw one of your videos earlier about shirataki noodles and then this one popped up in my recommended. It's difficult to find fitness related cooking channels that have REAL recipes!
Watched originally like a month ago. Wanted to come back and say how great this is. I just did my second week of meal preps with these burritos. I make some slight changes but overall great. I use regular cream cheese store brand, I use taco seasoning, no tomato sauce, I season my beef with cumin and paprika while cooking then use the taco seasoning after the meat is cooked. I also use a store brand frozen veggie mix of onions and peppers and fire roasted corn “fiesta style”. I get 8 burritos total and bring two a day to work along with my fruits and yogurt and chips
Add everything he said to food processor and also include 1 8 oz can of chipotles in adobo sauce 1/2 teaspoon of cumin 1 tablespoon Chili powder 1 4 oz can of diced green chiles I like spicy food so adjust accordingly if you don’t
am sure it's not good, I am an Indian and love Mexican food, here is my recipe first heat up the tortilla and add a big spoon of boiled lemon rice + white rice + black beans /red + pinto +salad (cabbage) + fried onion + capsicum add grilled marinated chicken or any other meat you like + paneer or cheese add sour cream + green salsa + glucamole (avacado paste) thereares a few more things u might add
Couple of things I would do differently. I definitely would’ve gotten the low carb tortillas to watch my carb intake and secondly I would pan fried my burrito for a crunch and so the tortilla would stay in place and not Unravel
Always cook the onions first. Let them go 5-10 minutes, and add the meat then. Season it immediately when you throw the meat in. Cook it until you barely see any pink. If you need to cook vegetables, do it in a different pan. Make sure you don’t overcook the meat. Once the sauce is in let the meat cook in the sauce for a bit. That will optimize the flavors :)
how could you overcook minced beef?? Surely letting it cook longer will caramelise the beef? Cooking the onion first means you need to have an oil in the pan, adding it later and letting the onion soften and carmelise in the minced beef seems like a calorie reducing idea to me, what are your thoughts?
You need to sweat the onions of first then cook the meat use a larger pan to make sure you get a go seal on the meat and a crust forms and i would add cumin smoked paprika fresh garlic alot season 1 tsp of tom puree lime coriander nutrional yeast some chilli flakes
This channel is amazing! Though I have to say he got me laughing with the "20 to 25 grams of black pepper"... That literally is half of the shaker 😁 Tried the recipe and it works great, some extra veggies will only add flavour to your gains 💪
we do opposite :make a big pot of main base ( beans/many veggies/some taco souse/onions) then when we do lunch heat that up fry some chicken and put some more veggies ( tomato/lettece/cc/corn) well this may not be most healthy but it is sure good way of meal prep Edit : just did 2nd batch first was 2kg now it's 4kg just cooking it.
This is basically what most people told me haha. They were hesitant and then they liked it xD
U can't say traditional w rice, because in Mexico, the majority don't have burritos with rice, it's just very uncommon there
This recipe is a good starting point. From there make it your own
Beef and potato
Sausage and egg
Vegetarian
Bean and cheese
I made this today. Except I substituted the beef for chicken and OH MY GOD this recipe is amazing. Thanks a lot!
Except that you can't cook chicken like you cook ground beef or you'll be extremely sad.
Chicken mince would be delicious
Good idea. There are large wraps with a quarter of the calories (about 50 cal) and you can get away without any olive oil since beef typically can cook itself in it's fat, even at incredibly low fat percentages.
Sadly the low calorie tortillas are super expensive where I live.
@@Felu yeah, that's always a consideration. I don't think many people actually get to eat the way they would ideally choose to.
olive oil makes everything tastier. It's worth it
@@lutherblissett7873 depends. Use it three times a day that's probably about 600 extra calories.

Steamed mince is the worst whereas nice browned off mince that's had some good time in contact with the pan is wonderful!
When you have to teach a cooking channel how to cook
Wow please I need to know more about the "how to roll a burrito".
In 2022 and we need in-depth burrito rolling techniques. Lol
@@umamifan no one likes the inside of your burrito leaking down onto your clothes. It should hold whatever you got going on inside. That's key to a good tight roll-up!
There must be a video for this out there in the YT world!
That's actually a really good idea. Thank you :)
@@Felu You're welcome! This is a great and simple recipe to meal prep! 😃
I made this today and it is amazing. I made 10 of these burritos and left them in the freezer for when i am hungry so i can just heat them up. I used 80/20 ground beef and i also used regular cream cheese (about 4 ounces)

I usually add in corn, black beans and jalapenos, plus right before finishing up I throw in some finely chopped spinach leaves. Adds a few more nutrients and volume to give you additional burritos. For me the tortillas I buy come packaged in groups of 10, so I can use a full package per meal prep which keeps things easier.
Why corn? its not nutrient dense and GMO. Your body can hardly digest it. Spinach is full of oxalates. Use kale instead.
I tried it, it was pretty good. Didn't taste anything like a Burrito though, more like a Sloppy Joe in a wrap. But, easy to make and freezes well
Because it’s not! He should put Basil on top of this and call it a Asinetto
I would add cumin seasoning. It will really help with Mexican flavor.
I didn't like the cumin flavor with the tomato sauce and cream cheese. This is more a italianified burrito lol
Yeah, I was looking for cumin and chiles.
@@rocketsinclair hmm.. maybe make an enchilada sauce instead. theres a bunch of authentic enchilada sauce recipes on youtube that are easy. i agree tomato sauce is more for lasagna or manicotti and enchiladas are basically the mexican version of manicotti
Just made these, they're insane! I used ground turkey instead of beef, since it's nearly impossible to find 95/5 beef where I live, and I can confirm that it tastes great
Thank you, really glad you like them :)
Nice. I substitute lean ground turkey or chicken, add in a couple hundred grams of egg whites and use the 90cal Flatout wraps from Walmart to make even more burritos for even less cal/each.
I love having burritos in the freezer for my large family to heat and eat on their own busy schedule. I use more vegetables than this recipe, chili powder and cumin, fresh cilantro fresh garlic....less cheese but more flavor.

Thanks for the idea.
Nice, glad you liked it :) After defrost it will not be as good as freshly made but imo 90% as good
I’ve done this 3 times now and absolutely love having a tasty, filling breakfast in a couple minutes!

Really a good base recipe that you can up the Ole! in. I agree. I would not freeze if eating them through the week. Just take the portion and heat and eat.
I would not put anything hot into the fridge, ever. I would put them somewhere nice and quiet for a while and then put them in the fridge.
Wow, thanks for that tip. I didn't even know this!
Conceptually this is really good for an easy weekday meal, but I am begging you to use some more spices like cumin and cayenne pepper lol
I'll probably end up making this myself, but I think it could stand to benefit from more veg, like sweetcorn and bellpepper. Some of the meat could be substituted for beans as well.
I don't like cumin with a tomato sauce. It's not a good combo imo and I won't add spices just for the sake of being a "real" burrito

Stick with the video 😂
these are absolutely delicious, definitely staying in the prep rotation
Awesome, thank you :)
This is such a good recipe! I did what another commenter said and cooked the onions first. Also added garlic to mine!
Just prepared this recipe. The meal is heavenly!
🤡
8-10eggs added
This tasted UNREAL. Thank you so much!

Great recipe. I altered it to my liking. Instead of the tomatoe paste I added some Goya sofrito. And used sour cream instead of cream cheese.
I would add some green peppers otherwise looks excellent. I was always terrible at rolling burritos even when I worked at McDonald's :)
Wait. Are you saying that McDonald's breakfast burritos are hand rolled at the restaurant?! Mind. Blown
I find cooking onions before the meat works better for me. I like to add a little butter and sugar and let them caramalize a bit before adding the meat to them. Or removing them completely and adding them back to the meat mix after its nearly cooked through
