I find joy in baking, cooking, trying new recipes, reading books from the library, but also in saving money, learning new things, time with my Bible Study group and texting and talking with my children. It is the little things in life that matter the most.

Agreed ..it really is the small things. I spend spare time during winter crocheting blankets out of free or nearly free yarn while listening to audio books or chatting on the phone. Sipping coffee and just enjoying life. Slowing down to experience the moment is everything!

For me it is talking with my grandchildren. If we didn't spend time talking with our grandson, we might not have discovered that he has the most wonderful sense of humor and makes us laugh all the time. He also is fascinated with new, interesting words and has become the family wordsmith at the age of 10.
It is currently snowing a lot in StL. My daughter's school got called off early, so she decided to go outside and build a snowman. Afterwards, she shoveled the driveway and walkway. When she came in she was very cold and said, "Mom, will you make me some homemade hot chocolate?" We never have any premade packets, but it is fairly easy to whip up some with basic ingredients I always have on hand. She is now happily sipping hot chocolate by the fire while reading a book she got at the library. ❤ Earlier today, I was cleaning out drawers and filling up a bag to donate clothes that I no longer wear, but right now I am sitting quietly reflecting on my many blessings. I am warm, safe, and content. ❤

Recovering from surgery, my daughter brought a chicken/ zucchini casserole, a seven layer salad and fixings for strawberry shortcake. So yummy. She’s making a big lasagna to send by another daughter. My youngest said she was taking care of Sunday, sisters also helping- how here blessed. So thankful for all the concern, prayers,calls and cards. Again, so very blessed.

One thing that gives me great joy is to help others to save money. My son was going to pay a vacuum repair place 65.00 to fix his Dyson and I said . ......no way. I let him know that with the right tools, and a UA-cam video I could probably fix it. It is so satisfying to figure out how to make simple repairs and save money.

Knowing that I am loved by God is the greatest and dearest joy of my life. And, He daily blesses me with friends who share this joy. Besides that , He gives me a wonderful, a loving cat, piles of books,movies, craft materials, a comfy home , and just all sorts of blessings. And, I am content and humbly thankful. I love my quiet time each afternoon. After 1pm I turn phone and tv off and read in my recliner. A little nap sometimes happens and this couple of hours of quiet time gives me great pleasure and rejuvenates.

Every first day of school i give the kids annonomously a food storage bag w heirloon veg seed pack a pencil a ma notepad. A tooth brusn n paste n bar soap, deodorant , 1. My simple joys: Time with God and His Word, making cards with pretty papers and fun photos, decluttering our house, shopping our house to change up our decor, rearranging furniture to give a fresh feel, walking and spending time outside, reading, audiobooks on Hoopla, feeding the birds and bunnies in our yard, camping, and cooking good, frugal meals! "It's a wonderful life" when you realize how many simple joys there are! Thanks for sharing that cookbook...I just put it on hold at the library!

I get so much joy from looking around my living room and seeing all my treasures. A comfy chair, an eighteen year old sofa, a lovely old table and chairs and my beautiful dresser that I painted in lockdown. Nothing posh… but everything treasured and cared for. How fortunate I am to be warm and cosy and comfortable. I love it when my grandchildren stay at the weekends and my home is filled with laughter and fun. I buy in simple treats for them, cook them a delicious dinner and enjoy their company. I am forever grateful for these simple things and never take them for granted. Enjoy your snow. What brings me joy each day; waking up realizing my good health, my good connection with my Creator, food on my table, roof over my head, enough money to pay my bills. Of course my small patio plants, for my birthday, my hallebores plants in pink & dusty blue both bloom for the winter. It is such a delight to watch my plants & having my coffee at any time of the day. Also, my loving tabby kitty, Ollie who loves me so much.

Knowing Jesus loves me, brings me joy. Also, i love the library. Being able to look up books, to put on hold, not only saves me money, but saves me room on my bookshelf! I have enough books that I own, so taking advantage of the library is awesome, especially when I've found a new series to love. I also really enjoy cooking, so trying new recipes and seeing the joy on my husband's face when he comes home from work, and he smells and sees the yummy food I've prepared, fills my heart.

Here in North Carolina, we usually get advance warning if we will be getting snow.
That's when I make sure I have enough food for myself and the squirrels in my backyard that I feed every day.
I make sure I have books, jigsaw puzzles, movies and games to tide me over until the snow melts.
I don't drive in the snow, but I think ahead and prepare for snow accordingly.
Unfortunately, we haven't received any snow this year.

My simple joys are reading, using Silver Sneakers to work out, crocheting, and monthly prayers with friends. I have donated lapghans to a local Hospice, and make slippers and Christmas ornaments for the grandkids. Starting my day with prayer sets the tone for the day.

Baking a really nice loaf of bread gives me joy. Today i baked your sourdough Emmy, its a winner. Ive been doing no knead and loaf style sourdough for years. A homemade loaf isnt just a $ saver, its so good you can build a meal around it. Tuna or egg salad sandwiches never tasted so good! Thank you Emmy, my recipe card file is getting full of all your dishes!!

I used to save birthday cards, especially the pretty ones and those from people closest to me. Back when I was raising my son and struggling financially as a divorced mom, I had to find an economical way to decorate the tables at our clubhouse for a 40th birthday party I was hosting for a friend. I sorted out the cards that simply said HAPPY BIRTHDAY and put them in picture frames I already had around the house (had to remove the family pictures temporarily) and set one on each table along with a small vase as a centerpiece. It was a big hit! And a great way to put those cards to use.

As I get older I don't want to rush through the seasons of my life. I enjoy winter and the shorter days. I love to put a stew or chili in the crockpot and snuggle under a homemade quilt and read or watch an old black and white movie

Just baked 2 loaves of bread this morning and froze 35 biscuits. A bag of frozen biscuits is now $6.00 at the grocery store. I love baking and saving money. Plus we know what is in our bread and foods when we prepare it. Have a blessed weekend friends.

My hubby bought a loaf of the butter bread while I was helping my parents for a few days. Half the loaf was still in the bread box over a month and it did not mold? Yikes!! Chemical city... He did miss my homemade bread

No snow here in Michigan right now, but I do love watching it come down! I find joy in a number of things, we have too, don't we?! Right now I'm finding joy in being frugal to meet some goals, and as a part of that making sure i am using my pantry. In the last 8 weeks, I've spent just over $200 at the grocery store and that was for perishables or restock a supply. Saved enough to pay off a debt, pay a bill ahead of time, a chunk of money towards new countertops, sink and faucet in my diy kitchen makeover! I am doing well enough that I think I'm going to "splurge" and pay for installation because my time and sanity is valuable too, lol. But...paying cash for all of it! I'll do my floors myself when I get more saved up!

Years ago I would do magazines and I have saved many of them. I love going to my collection and pulling out the current season to sit and read again. Many are cooking magazines so it helps inspire me to try something new. I also have many cookbooks due to Christmas and Birthday gifts I love to pull one out and read them just like a book cover to cover.

Phone calls and frequent visits with my Best Friend of over 40 years, my college roommate! No one makes me laugh like she does. Laughter is the best medicine! I treasure all my girlfriends and nurture these friendships. Some from High School and one from kindergarten. Although we no longer live in the same state, we still stay in touch and meet up every year. So BLESSED. My husband and I are happy we live in Rhode Island (the Ocean State). We are fortunate we have so many close options with town and state beaches to be at the water in 10 minutes. Even on a cold February day, we will take a drive and a brisk walk by the Bay. A very favorite treat is a visit to a Dog Park! We only have a Cat but I guarantee you, it will definitely have you smiling watching these dogs playing and running carefree with their friends. I love Sunsets, dinner by candlelight, decorating for holidays, sitting by the fire, Hallmark movies, cooking, swapping recipes with my sister, Community Theater, Snow, music instead of the news and the magic of my 5 little Valentines, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️, our grandchildren.

Our local library is a huge source of everyday joy! From books & magazines, to games, puzzles & museum passes and even a "library of things" where I can take out a pressure washer, or a fancy bundt cake pan, or framed art for a few weeks :)

My hubby and I were just talking about this; the simple joys in life that we love. We live a very frugal life on a very small income, but we love it. We are an older couple, he's 70 and I'm 61. My hubby is a musician and still plays his guitar often and I have a great love for music (and musicians ~ wink wink), so I get a private concert daily. We play all kinds of games daily, from cribbage to puzzles; it keeps our minds sharp, and we love spending time together. We live in Iowa, and it's still snowing here, so we are spending a lot of time inside; but in the summer, we go fishing a lot and enjoy picnics. I absolutely love you guys and your channel, we are so much alike, that it's scary...hehehe Have a blessed day! 💕

My husband passed away quite suddenly in October, so, to be honest, it's been difficult to find joy in anything. I had "brain fog" for weeks (and I think I still have it but not quite as bad) and I existed through the grace of God. I think that's been my greatest joy. I'm not alone and He has guided me every step of the way. I don't know how people get through life altering situations without Him. I've learned to live on a lot less money financially. It's eye opening what you can do without. Groceries have been a huge expense, as we all know, but I ask myself when I'm making that list to pick up at Walmart (I know if I go in to shop, I'll spend more)...do I really NEED that? In another of your videos you talked about not buying prepared foods. I wasn't eating for quite a while right after he died, so frozen prepared meals (I get Healthy Choice bowls) have kept me going. I don't eat them every day but I keep them in the freezer for days I just can't prepare something just for myself. Thank you both for what you do to encourage us to save as much as possible. I wish I had learned this a lot sooner. God Bless.

I am finding joy in decluttering to clear out stuff that I’ve been “saving”…I had kept so many purses, jewelry, collectibles that were my mom’s.
Today I donated many Coach, Dooney and Bourke, Vera Bradley purses to the Local Feline rescue thrift store. The lady behind me said I should have sold them for money. I told her it made me happy to help the rescue especially since I don’t need the money…Do what gives us joy!😀
My decluttering will continue…..

I find joy in realising I have enough and I am enough. No "keeping up with the Jones" for me 😊 . I find joy in reading, cooking from scratch, my family and nature. There is nothing that makes me feel more connected to the world than getting up a mountain in Scotland and just taking in all the beauty thats around. I also find joy in watching your videos which are always motivational so thank you.

We had a storm this morning. I spent 2 hours shovelling. So now, for my lunch dinner, I am making a big breakfast. I made pancakes early this am because I had no toast bread, but now I can do toast. Funny how I am on the same page. I love snow days except when its continuous and I have to shovel every few hrs to keep up.

Anytime there are flowers blooming in my garden that I can cut and bring indoors I feel rich! I'm considering turning my veggie patch into all flowers this summer for just this reason.

Never use a sharp knife to loosen or remove frozen meat. I did this once and ended up sticking the sharp knife through my ring finger on my left hand. I had to call 911 to come rescue me all the while my toddler was running around in her walker. We had to be taken to the emergency room in the ambulance.

My ultimate simple joy is to watch the sunsets when the weather permits. I take my favorite dog and we sit on the porch until the stars fill the sky. It’s so peaceful and it gives me so much internal reflection time while also spending some quality time with the beautiful area that I am grateful to call home. 🖤

I like to do something similar. During the summer months, I go out in the evening to watch the fireflys.
I like spending time with my mum baking cakes and then eating them lol mmm so much better then shop brought ones.
I like spending time with the dogs in the garden chilling out and watching the world go round.
I enjoy spending time with my neighbour next door and his son, doing stuff in the garden to help me but laughing and joking and even tho it’s work it’s fun, and then treating them to a nice pizza (we cook) and even tho we are then separated by walls , while I eat it I think of them and I’m greatful I have them to call on when I need help.

I make bookmarks with cards, paint sample cards and backing from grocery gift card display hanger. I use a hole punch and a piece of ribbon to make them fancy

I take my cards and place together around 6 cards 3 top 3 bottom (glue, staple or tape) with comments showing on back and whom it's from. Then take it to Staples and have it eliminated and use it as placemats. Have birthday, thank you's, Christmas etc placemats to use throughout the seasons and year. Get lots of compliments on them. I have about 5 - 6 yrs of them. Some of the friends, family have passed on but brings wonderful memories and treasures to cherish.

Thank you for the bookmark idea! I have always hated tossing them! I also LOVE happy planner materials. I find many different things to add to my planner on clearance at Hobby Lobby. One things that make me smile is to add stickers and personalize my planner with beautiful flowers and motivational sayings or words for each month. The things that bring me the most joy are my grandchildren and adult children. I also love to garden inside and out. And making a pantry cleanout meal always tastes the best! Thank you for all the great ideas!!

I find joy in watching the birds in the garden; in inhaling the scent of a beautiful flower; in relaxing with a nice hot drink and listening to a lovely piece of music; in eating my favourite chocolate bar; in reading a good book; in being able to help someone; in receiving a smile and giving a smile; in watching our neighbourhood cats.........there are lots of things that give me a lot of joy.

I absolutely love good snow storms..and in addition to the pristine beauty of the storm, then comes the necessary outdoor tasks followed by the welcoming warmth inside and a cup of something warm as well. We are just now getting that big snow after several mild days. My brother who lives next door has health problems and has his car in the shop for repairs. So I went out early today and did his Kroger shopping and mine, picked up his medical prescriptions and, at his request, picked up a big pizza on the way home. We had a nice visit over our lunch when I got back and had leftover pizza to freeze for another meal. He was feeling anxious about being stranded these next few days with no car and bad weather. But my stepping up assured him he wasn't alone in this. So we both agreed we were ready for the incoming storm and grateful for warm houses and living out in such a beautiful rural setting. Then the repair shop called and said a mouse had chewed through some wiring in his car motor! A minor repair but just a part of living with nature!😅
So very smart to plan for the upcoming weather! Peace of mind is priceless!

Also, I wanted to share my frugal “win,” since I’m pretty sure you’d understand…. Yesterday, my ~25-year-old sweater de-fuzzer finally died. I wondered if my electric shaver, which my mom gave me 50 years ago, would do the job instead. Indeed it does! So I saved some money and avoided the likelihood that whatever I bought would be junk compared to my old one. I’m so pleased, and I just wanted to tell someone. Have a lovely day, despite the snow!

Loved that sweet potato recipe. I have a couple that I want to roast (one for me and one for my dog, Blue). Can't do the onions for Blue, but maybe I can do each potato in a separate sheet. Recently starting my day with one Bible chapter every morning. Funny, when I was a kid, I cut out "holy" pictures from the cards my parents sent to my Grandparents (mostly in Polish) and used to use them in my Missal. Our local nursing home asks for used cards. The residents make beautiful bookmarks from them and donate to the library who in turn gives them away for free. I made a bunch of beads out of magazines and destroyed old book pages and those were added to the yarn tassels..they were awesome!

A small note on baked sweet potatoes: if you mix them with oil, then add a few spoons of corn starch and mix again, this will make sweet potatoes crunchy after baking 😋 a good idea is also to add a couple of spoons of smoked paprika, this will elevate the taste to another level for sure

What brings me joy is Prayer, my grandkids, my dog Frankie, my Bible studies, cooking and baking, reading books, walking in my neighborhood, my neighbors baby goats playing, card making, a fire in the wood stove, puzzles.

Didn't have snow but it was a cold rainy day so didn't try to work in the garden as planned. Gave myself the day off to enjoy my dog, and the new chickens that just came to live with me yesterday. Also time to call some family, do some food prep, and enjoy my book. Spent a little time with my bible and reminded myself how blessed I am to have rain as my biggest problem. Groundhog said Spring would be early, so maybe you have had your last snow storm. Here's hoping

I love Dixie endings. Since my service-connected injuries, and hard-won education of failure named the "VA," I value independence. I have never been to a food bank, and I don't have money for food, so I have animals and plants that provide my food.

I send home made crossstitch christmas cards and one of my cousins keeps them, frames them and uses them as part of the next Christmas decor. I also reuse cards for gift tags etc. I am forever looking at things and think how they can be repurposed. Just been making christmas decorations from old curtain and shower rings.

FYI i found some awesome clearance this week for Happy Planner at hobby lobby if anyone wants one, go check there. And their stickers were marked down too if you like to decorate. I first went to Michaels and they had no happy planners at all. I asked an associate who has worked there for years and she said that her location wasn’t bringing them back because Michael’s is restructuring their store. Boo! Anyway, i agree with you on the snow feeling. I miss the warm weather and beach time her on LI but there is something about the stillness, tranquility and peace a snow day brings. We absolutely need them and the quiet reminder it leaves us with ❄️
The years repeat. You can look it up online. Which means 2024 will follow the same plan as a year in the future so one never needs to pay a big price for planners, etc. There is a pattern.

That is a good price for the Happy Planner. Another idea, if one can be patient, is to wait until the end of January through February and then stop periodically in at GW thrift stores that are close to stores such as Target. These stores will sometimes dump off their spare planner inventory at GW, who then sells them for $1-3. I am lucky enough to live close to one of these GWs, but I do realize that those in rural areas would end up wasting the money on gas to get there (so whatever works best). I cringe when I hear of people spending $60 on a planner. 😲

Spending time with my pets and the shelter animals brings me tremendous joy! We make our own food topper from venison given to us by friends who hunt and our own jerky treats too. Such savings! Emmy, I used old birthday cards as post cards to send to someone else who has a birthday. It may seem cheap to some but I hate the idea of throwing things that are still usable in the recycling.

I do believe this video has given me an ah-ha moment! After I cook dried garbanzo beans and add them to my soup, they have such a disappointing blah taste to them 🤥 Thanks to this inspiring video, I will sauté and season the cooked garbanzo beans before adding them to my next batch of soup.
