    You guys certainly know how to choose demo musicians

    It’s weird how this stuff grows on me. When I first heard microtonal music it just sounded like it was out of tune and I didn’t like it very much. But the more I listen to this type of music, the more I appreciate it.

    Very calm, I hope to be able to afford a lumatone before they go out of production.

      mhh if it goes out of production my guess is It might be unplayable since the software won't be developped any further and I think (not shure though) that it works along with a software

    • @amj.composer
      @amj.composer Рік тому +15

      @@user-fw9nb6pk9m That's incorrect, it runs on stable firmware and is basically just a midi keyboard. If the lumatone software isn't developed further it doesn't mean the old software and firmware just stops working. Windows XP is not being developed anymore, people are still able to use it right? Same with the old SNES, how do those work?

      @@amj.composer . . . And I just read an article that somebody figured out how to generate Windows XP license keys that it will actually accept, for people who absolutely have to have it to run stuff designed for it. Now if only the ReactOS development would complete . . . .
      The limiting factors would be software not working on newer operating system versions (and older versions not being supported any more for security updates, so you would need to take them offline), and eventually not being able to get replacement hardware parts.

      If you have a little feel for improvisation and (odd) music in general you could compose something similar quite fast I’m pretty sure about that

    • @hoidoei941
      @hoidoei941 11 місяців тому +1

      This is in fact just regular harmonisation to me, just a little more chromatics.. you can easily hear 12 tone shining through only with a little more colourshift like some sort “Boards of Canada effect” one could slightly just detune within small ranges almost like a chorus effect and you wouldn’t hear much of a difference .. it just widens up the sound a little. It’s not something profound or unheard. Even 12 tone modal music pieces going far beyond let alone most synths/vst’s

      @@hoidoei941 if your point is "if someone worked at it, they could compose something zhea erose improvised" then i'd consider that high praise, to be honest.

      @@hoidoei941 I think you haven't dug into Zhea's work... Look at her last video of neutral chord's unique harmonic function. On the contrary of what you said, Zhea is to me one of the few to experiment beyond the approach of "adding microtonal flavors to 12 edo harmony", trying to find harmonic functions and voice leading specific to a microtonal system. Just listen closer at her work

    Fantasmical 31TET improv! Very appropriate choice of timbres, BTW, for the flow and feel of the music, and for 31.
    Thanks Amelia and Lumatone!

    Amelia, this is so magical. The tuning is so subtle. Do you have this set to special altérnate microtonal notes, or is this a specific tuning that you can apply to the entire keyboard automatically?
    I play an original Axis 64 honeycomb keyboard, but I never tried it microtonally. I just use Thomas Young Tuning.

    Is the Lumatone easier than a piano or is it as complex?Amelia, love the more bell like sounds, lovely. Petra-B xxx

    • @lumatone
      @lumatone  2 місяці тому +1

      Depends on your learning type, but as an example, a producer who got his a couple months ago said he was making more complex and expressive melodies after 20 minutes with his Lumatone than he had after his 20 years working with piano keyboards. So it certainly is “easier” in some ways. But we like to think of it as more intuitive. You still get what you put in, and you can spend years mastering it if you like. But we’ve found folks are able to make beautiful things with it far sooner than they’d ever be able to do with a less symmetrical, non-isomorphic instrument like a piano.
