  • I've been watching this UA-cam channel called ProjectJDM with these oddly satisfying pendulum-like sequences and I thought it would be cool if someone made a full song out of that concept :)

      I'm here listening and trying to find out our which 16th/32nd/64th/128th note is on the down-beat at any given point in time. This would be HELL to actually perform. It sounds awesome, but if someone was asked to actually perform this on a real instrument their mind would melt.

    This is rhythmic phasing. It cycles through continually shifting polyrhythms. The drums are in 4/4, the synth is playing sequences of different lengths that are slowing down and speeding up through the song, generating different polyrhythms as it goes. It’s not one polyrhythm, it’s every polyrhythm that can possibly exist. In case anybody was wondering.

    • @davidtuell5558
      @davidtuell5558 Місяць тому +20

      Sort of, but also not quite. This is 20 different ryhtyms stacked on top of each other; you could make more but it wouldn’t sound as good or translate as well.

    • @jaiwatkins2820

      Maybe the right phrase is every sequential polyrhythm that can ever exist? Wouldn’t there be an exponentially infinite amount of polyrhythms out there?

    • @YoungEldritch
      @YoungEldritch 4 дні тому +1

      None of the sequences speed up or slow down at all, and neither is it every polyrhythm that could exist. Each note in a particular row is playing at the same tempo throughout the entire song. The slight differences in tempo create "shapes" over time, similar to setting five or six pendulums of different lengths to all go together. It's all the same polyrhythm, just playing out for eight minutes.

    • @vaportrails7943
      @vaportrails7943 4 дні тому

      @@YoungEldritchThere are sequences…because the notes are arranged in order. And the length of the sequence is speeding up and slowing down due to increasing distance between the notes. Rhythmically, it is every possible polyrhythm. There could be different notes or instruments used. You’re just arguing semantics here.
