I am 5'6" and bought the low step that came in red. I was on a bike path and caught some gravel and it was like falling into quicksand, the bike stopped on a dime and fell on me, sideways. It's a 46cm and it must be the geometry but I feel too short for the bike and I have long legs. Disappointed and going to sell it, haven't had it long. I bought a Reise & Mueller Charger 3 and I LOVE IT. A sidewalk I was on ended abruptly and I had to go over a ditch that had large rocks in it, and after wiping out on the Gazelle T 10 on a little gravel, I thought I was going to wipe out on the Reise & Mueller but the bike just sailed over everything. I'm in love with the bike and the company!
Hi, ik twijfel ook tussen de image 5 b belt en de image 5.s belt. Do you feel "the wall effect" when the speed reach 25 km /h with the bosch motor? The image 5.s belt is the same bike but with the shimano steps 6100.
Unfortunate to hear Kalkhoff hasn't got a marked in the US anymore. The bike is excellent, really sturdy which I like. There'll always be the momentum brake when the peddle support stops at 25 km/h. But not more heavy than other gear systems in my opinion. Minor gripe that I experience though with the stepless gear system is that I cannot see the current gear I'm in. It lacks a mechanical tachometer (absent with the manual version) which I was used to obviously on my previous bikes. Matter of time to get accustomed to I guess, but still. I'm thinking about placing the harmony automatic controller for the NuVinci N380 hub aftermarked for some visual feedback. Apart from that I do think it's a fine bike. Een aanrader ;-)
I ordered an Ultimate T10+ in August, 2020. Now it's February, 2021 and I'm still waiting. Though it appears that most quality ebikes have been on back-order for quite awhile now.
I have a rubber port cover on my Cube ebike, and I finally just removed it due to the hassle of fiddling with it two or three times a week, although I can put it back on when I ride in wet weather. I wish the port cover on this bike gave me more confidence about ease of use. The rest of the bike looks great, but something that seems like a minor irritant at first can become seriously annoying in short order.
I really do enjoy your videos and find them so informative. I am going back and forth between the Ultimate T10+ and the Medeo T10+. I realize that the Medeo uses lower grade components, but my main concern is my height. I'm 6'8" and am wondering if the 2cm difference between the Medeo at 55cm and the Ultimate at 57cm is really worth considering. Thanks again for your informative videos.
Thanks a bunch Arnie! Glad you have been enjoying them. The all of the Ultimates are a bit larger than the Medeos so if you can spring for it I would recommend the Ultimate although you can definitely make the Medeo work. Both might need some modifications to really dial them in though. Perhaps a different seatpost, stem and maybe the handlebars depending on your preference.
Great video! I do wonder if gazelle has an interface for an iPhone so that you can mount your phone and get more information integrated with the bike while you ride?
There is the Bosch Smartphone Hub, which enables you to use your phone as the bike's main display, but I'm not sure if Gazelle offers that as an option. If not, you can probably have one installed after-market by your local bike shop/dealer.
Thanks Mark! Much appreciated! It was a really great trip. I’m very happy I was able to go and I look forward to more trips once things settle down again. I hope you’re staying safe.
Ultimate T10+ or Ultimate C380+? I'm really torn between these two. I'm pretty much entirely sold on the C380 aside from the fact that I can't get it in any interesting colors 🙃
Looks like a great bike! A couple of questions...first..dealers in the US? Second, what is the capacity on the charger? Last..where are these bikes manufactured? Good review, Chris!
Thanks Tom! This bike is available through US dealers. The charger is 4amp and charges the battery fully in about 4 hours. The bikes are manufactured at the Gazelle factory in town called Dieren in the Netherlands.
Loved the video and the bike! Do you think the 52 chainring is ok for steep hills? Seems like a bit much but not sure when paired to the rear gears. If I put a basket on the front would it interfere with the light?
Sorry for the misinformation. It’s actually a 46 tooth chainring. This bike handles hills easily though. I would move the light to use a basket on the bars.
Does it really offer a second battery? in your website there is an option for second battery but you didnt explain that here, im wondering where the second battery goes ?
It is possible to mount a second battery. It’s only available for the medium and large standard frame and it mounts on the seat tube inside the triangle.
Oh now I see what you’re requesting. I’ve inquired with Bosch before on this matter. Let me check again and see what the latest details are on this. Maybe you can shoot us an email and I can more easily follow up there
@@JohnWWall But I already have the T10+ so I was just hoping there was a way to adjust a governor like mechanism on my bike to keep it at 18 to 20 mph max so I could classify it as a Class 1 making it more compliant on some trails I like to ride. It hasn’t been a big deal though since buying the bike in early 2021. No one really cares and I am not a speed demon on the trails.
If you want belt drive, the C380+ is essentially the same bike as the T10+, but with a belt and internally geared hub instead of the usual chain-and-derailer combination.
I think this bike is largely for the American and German market. I know it’s a little outside of the box one because I was normal and but the bike performs really well.
I (Dutch) had a Gazelle (Sprinter Race?) with derailleur gears about 40 years ago. (Around the era of big successes of Dutch Cycing (Kneteman, Zoetemelk, Peter Post team, etc). I still have a bicycle with derailleur gears. Jan Jansen bike. It's the most efficiënt way of cycling. And in case of a puncture, rather troublefree taking the rearwheel out. BIG advantage. Ofcourse: Lubricate in time. In the city I prefer the 7-speed shimano right hand gear system. Way quicker in getting down in gears and picking up immediately after (nearly) stalling.
Guzzi venture I’m aware of what they used to make. I just think they should focus fully on what they’re best at and leave ancient technology like derailleurs in the past and move on. The reason why it remains the most efficient way to cycle is because Shimano has chosen not to innovate over the past decades. And if they don’t innovate, the market doesn’t move.
drie wiel Look at a car from 40 years ago and now look at a Tesla Model 3. Then look at a top end road bike from 40 years ago and look at a top end road bike from today. Cycling hasn’t moved forward. Only in the ways which don’t matter to normal people. Eg weight and aerodynamics. Only braking and eBike tech represent useful change. And even eBike systems are held back by the derailleurs on mountain bikes especially.
drie wiel I can’t afford a Tesla, and I’m getting rid of my Smart EQ soon to go back to cycling only soon. But I do have some Tesla shares and I’m hoping to ride in them autonomously in the next couple of years. As far as the batteries, the Bosch powertube is replaceable and I believe you just attach it to the outer shell which is specific to the bike or brand itself. Good thing about eBikes is that even if you earn very little, you can afford the best bikes in the world. And also, I can imagine the exhaust smell of that 90s car from here, so I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near it. Those old petrol cars stink.
You get no disagreement from me with the quality build. I’ve seen some bikes like the RadRovers, or even Aventon. Grant it, perhaps not in the same level, but definitely great value and frankly affordable. Now I realize “affordable” is a relative term, but certainly for me, once I see 3k plus for a bike , I don’t even consider them. But that’s just me. Anyway, you present a great video with a nice breakdown. Your content has value for sure.
Thanks for your well balanced perspective. I think there is a place for all bikes. I look forward to having more lower priced offerings as the market scales.
Propel Electric Bikes Yes sir you’re welcome. In way no way was my first comment meant to be a criticism of you. It was a spontaneous response for which perhaps should have been tempered, for that I apologize. Honestly I think ebikes are great and as we know will continue to be more popular and hopefully make them more affordable. Keep doing what you’re doing.👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much! No need to apologize at all. I do agree that the scale will eventually bring the price down of quality bikes. For now I will try to be patient for that movement. It’s happening, but it definitely is taking time.
$4,000 is too much for an e-bike. Guess I better start doing some reviews of some of the cheaper ones so people that don't have unlimited funds can still find one that works for them. :-)
Dude for a mere 4k you need unlimited funds? It's under twice the price of a decent ebike and this is a top of the line model. Remember most of the Dutch drive their bikes more then cars. Meaning this would last you 15-20 years without breaking down on ya. Take into account that bikes are subsidized in the Netherlands. If you sign off on showing up to work cycling regularly? Yup 70 to 80% off the price.
Nope 👎 you get what you PAY for. I own it. It’s my primary transport. I ride to work 10 miles each way with steeps. Reliable. BTW I have a very limited budget.
Thanks so much for watching!✌

We couldn't agree with you more!!
Great review Chris!
Thanks Ewoud! Much appreciated!
at the $4000 price point I wish it had the better intuvia display but it's still a great looking bike especially in the champion red!

Is it possible to order an extra battery for this gazelle online? And is the second battery that mounts inside the triangle a different model number?
A second powerpack 500 battery upgrade kit can be used for some of the Madeo and ultimate models. It mounts by the seat tube in the triangle.
FWIW, I carry an extra battery in my trunk bag when I need it for longer rides.

Wonderful review! How I wish we could buy one of these bikes in the UAE! I cannot even see international shipping from these guys.

Dang - Great review Chris. And you go to the Netherlands, so great. You and Tara are nailing it. Best Wishes from NorCal.

Almost identical to my Kalkhoff Endeavour Advanced B10 ebike. Thanks for the info👍
Nice! They are owned by the same parent company Pon.

@@Propelbikes Thanks again. Nice to know there are bikes being manufactured in other places besides China. That for me is a big advantage for Gazelle!
I totally agree. We did a little video about the Gazelle factory if you want to check it out.

All of Gazelle's e-bikes have hydraulic disc brakes.

Is there a way to limit a 28 mph Class 3 bicycle like the Ultimate T10+ to just 20 mph so it could be classified as a Class 1?

Chris do you review specialized electric bikes?
I don’t have any in the pipeline that I plan to review at the moment. Was there a specific one you were interested in?
Why does my bike just have a Shimano deore, not xt..same exact bike. Thanks in advance
Gazelle t10+ in large frame, duel batteries, gates belt. Price and availability?? Mike
If you want belt drive, the C380+ is essentially the same bike as the T10+, but with a belt and internally geared hub instead of the usual chain-and-derailer combination.
Charging time?
This bike will charge in about 4 hours, but 70% will charge in about 1.5 hours. The time after that is mostly spent balancing the cells.
If you take the battery and it starts raining. Won't it damage the circuit where the battery should be?
Anyway nice bike.
No, but there is a rubber plug available to cover the connector.
Ohhhh I live there I’ll check one to buy it
I want!
You lost me at 4000
