    The Miles Defence (1. e4 e5 2. f4 Nc6 3. Nf3 f5) is another popular way of declining the gambit / confusing everybody. I guess we'll see that one in episodes 6-7?

    Anyone else notice how much mannerisms / phrases / emphasis Schrantz has mimmicked from Finegold? Or is it the other way around!? :D

    Yes.. We want more King's Gambit!!! Please do at least 5 lectures on it! I also like to suggest more Sicilian Najdorf variations such as the Poisoned Pawn variation, Polugaevsky variation and early Bc4 anti Sicilian Lines in Black's point of view! Thanks for all the great content!!

    I'm a 1.e4 player and I would like a system to play vs 1.d4. I currently play the Czech Benoni but this was already covered by Ben Finegold. Thanks!

    I have been having lot of trouble with it.

    • @HenryFromCentrelink

      It's a gambit, it's not meant to be safe. You just have to study the lines and learn from you mistakes. Sometimes things happen you lose material

    • @TuhTuhTool
      @TuhTuhTool 3 роки тому

      The short answer: there are no safe lines. A gambit means you sacrifice (usually a pawn) for the sole purpose of creating an attacking advantage because you have a developping tempo. If you can't convert that advantage into a material advantage over time, then it's most likely you're losing. Gambits are actually not sound openings, because computers and people have found ways to stop the attacks. You probably won't see a King's Gambit or Evan's Gambit in a super GM tournament. Best known refutation of the King's Gambit was offered by Bobby Fischer in 1961. He said that after 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 d6 it's all over for black. He elaborated on this in 5 more pages.

    Can you please "never stop doing the King's Gambit"? It's a great opening for aspiring players and has a very rich history.
    I have an opponent who keeps using it against me, and although I'm around 400 points stronger than him (I'm around 1900 USCF), he has got plenty of better/winning positions. He usually prefers options with an early d4.

    Framing everything in the way that its a surprise may seem like it increases the "magic" of the position, but it does not do any good for people starting out chess who should be more interested in the process of understanding, not the amazement of the deus ex best move
    tl:dr dont learn sequences of moves because they are the best, learn chess

    • @andrewmays3988
      @andrewmays3988 3 роки тому

      People starting out to learn chess need to play chess as often as possible with as many different players as possible. The important thing is to learn to love the game for its seemingly infinite possibilities. It never ceases to amaze me how one move can change everything and I've been playing chess for nearly seven decades.😇

    falbeer counter gambit come on the opening probably scores worse for black than the accepted gambit.

      I'm always afraid my opponent plays the Falkbeer countergambit. It just completely throws me off because they get so much counterplay and you can't make any mistake.
