What an insanely good channel, especially for miniaturists who don't, can't or won't just order what they want online. In some ways it's certainly nice to, but the thrill of making it yourself is lost. Thank you so much for all your hard work in making, filming, editing, uploading and all that ❤
Thank you very much! I really enjoy making things from scratch from accessible materials. It's a lot of fun seeing something come from nothing. Filming, editing and adding voiceover (which most of my videos have, just not this one and a couple others) takes SO much time and work. Thank you for appreciating it.
You manage to teach really well without saying a word! Incredible detail and particularly live the super close up shots to show exactly how you're doing it. Bravo
@@queencityminis well you can be reassured that your teaching still gets across without, so if you feel like time off from doing that then I'd say you can
Thank you so much :) I saw a video of someone making miniatures using plastic sheets you can buy. I assumed an oatmeal lid would work just as well and it did.
Your attention to detail is amazing, the door glass being frosted was clever. All the little details you added to the door made it look so real! Nice job! Well done!
Thank you! I tested the frosted glass technique on scrap plastic but then I forgot a step. In my test piece, I sanded the plastic to scuff them up. It didn't change the end result so I lucked out on that one.
I was so thrilled to see this video - I'm custom building a dollhouse from some architectural plans I found on the net, so everything has been from scratch, and I really didn't want to pay $15 per door or window (and since it's somewhat of an observation tower/house, we're talking ~35 windows and 6 doora). Seeing how you made this door has saved me soooo much money!! And I have the deepest respect for popsicle sticks now - and those 1000 packs at Michael's are looking like a serious bargain!
That's awesome! If you have a laser cutter or Cricut machine, you could make a file and have a machine do all the cutting. Some libraries have machines you can use.
Excellent to perfection. I only wish I could do what she does. I was laughing with myself the other day trying to do the things the way she does, on my own. I know I'm new at this & practice makes perfect, but I have a long way to go. Lol
Thank you so much for a lot of great videos. I've used a few of your tips and techniques and look forward to using many more in the future. I appreciate all your hard work, on camera and off.
Yes! Unfortunately, there's tons of trash plastic available. I have a nice little stash. I'll have to make a greenhouse or something to try to use it up.
This is genius! The perfect door build. I'm saving this for future reference.... 👍 Also really love that you put links to the music you use. Some of these tracks are beautiful ❤
That is a work of art. SO many details, I love the details! You have such creative ways of making humble items look like the real deal and your mad blade skills are mind blowing. I always look forward to your next upload :)
That door is so realistic looking! I have to make one for a dollhouse I just acquired because it has no doors on the front or the side entrance, either. Can't wait to make one! Thank you, Shyra!
I would love it if you would talk so you could explain the process. Sometimes it would be nice to know if it a process that needs to be decorative etc. your work is beautiful
Great timing to stumble across this particular tutorial, I'm going to have to watch and rewatch this plenty of times when I try to make a front door for my mouse house cottage soon. (especially when you worked on the door frame!). Wonderful attention to detail Shyra, always inspirational!
That rust stuff looks neat and is such a wildly specific product. But fyi for anyone that can't afford the bottle of rust, it looks similar on camera at least, to using brown alcohol inks. Similarly, teal alcohol inks make a good faux patina.
You are my miniature hero‼️ I know you can make anything❗️ That’s what I want to make & not buy. But I see some items just need to be bought. Like $🌲’s dollhouse furniture. I took your advice on lengthening the legs on their table. I did ok. Thanks‼️👻🎃🩵🕊️
@@queencityminis the star Wars figures I used to get were just under 4 inches tall, but now they have six inch tall action figures. Posable too. Aging wood, making stones, bricks, fire pits, resin water, all in common. And terrain, foliage, trees. Oh and the role playing games like the dungeon and dragon stuff. They're in there too. There's a lot of cool Alien and Predator dioramas for that spaceship vibe or jungle look. They use fish tank grates to make the floors of spaceships with lights underneath. It's perfect.
I used to hate landlords too, then I learned homes are unaffordable bc of banks and their loans for properties. Makes perfect sense. Landlords are scapegoats.
@@queencityminisagreed! It also depends on whether they are individual landlords, or big faceless corporations. Your mom and pop types are usually just trying to get by themselves. Big corporations can be evil because there is no individual accountability, often, and no empathy for the individual renters. I was forced to rent rooms in my house before I was later forced to sell it, so I’ve been on both sides of the rental equation.
