You are such a great teacher! You always remember the little things that could be problematic for a newbie (and sometimes even those of us with some years of experience) and that makes you special. You're quite an inspiration.
Hi Laura, as I've said before, thanks for all you do, and teach... as I love working with zippers, and my bags, pillows, etc.. that I sell I call unZIPd by Mr. P..... no matter what I think I know, you always teach me something I didn't... I love waiting, and watching your videos no matter what they are, or if I even would use them..... thanks again, Jon
I love your projects!! And zippered bags are one of my favorite things to make. I wondered how to made these bags with the zip in the middle of the fabric. Thank you for a great tutorial.
These lessons are really helpful, however I didn't understand the part about sewing on and off the fabric ? If you have the needle going off the fabric isn't the stitch properly closed ? You couldn't see what was happening and we haven't covered that in the previous lessons. So it just stops it fraying and that's all ? :-)
Laura I loved your video. I am having a bit of trouble with putting in a zipper for a book cover. The zipper goes around the edges so I'm having trouble making it go around well. I snipped the tape so it can bend better but it's still difficult to sew it around. I hope you can give me a tip, and maybe a future video for a book cover or a makeup bag with a zipper that goes all the way around. Thank you for your videos they are awesome! Keep up the good work.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial! I have made a few pouches now! From your tutorial I have gotten the confidence to improvise the basic pouch, I am now adding lining. I have also added a pouch to the outside of another bag so that it slides over the luggage handle on my carryon.
I just learned how to put in a zipper from your tutorial....and made a zippered unlined bag for my sewing machine's cord......Yeah! thank you for making your tutorials so easy to understand and sew. I was afraid of zippers until now.
Thank you for sharing! I will be trying this. I had given up on putting zippers in my crafts but the way you have explained it...I think I can! Thank you again!
When you stitch the small oieces of white fabric to the zipper, you do double back over the stitches to stop them coming undone or just one straight line ? No reversing ? :-)
love this video. Quick question i love that fabric on each end of the zipper. Is that the same as a zipper tab? Other videos i see the zipper tabs at the end but find it kind of bulky because you usually have two little pieces of fabric and you have to fold each side about a 1/4 inch and and fold it then sew the 1/4 inch around the 4 corners if you understand what I am saying? I am just looking for less bulk because sometimes my machine doesnt like the thicker material in that small place. Thanks in advance if you know what i meant and if you have any tips.
You're a dream of a teacher--a teachers' teacher. You set us up for success. I'm between residences and sewing machines so am living my creativity vicariously! Thank you for all you do for us.You're passing on your mother's wonderful legacy.
I never knew there were zippers with stops on both ends. You could use those for purses, like you said, but also for the little bag you made too. I used to think zippers were hard, but have gotten more comfortable with them. I always enjoy a refresher though. Thank you very much.
As a newbie & by that I mean I've barely stitched a straight line for practice, I can't thank you enough for this one. So much info on stalling a zip without that fear of breaking a needle & zip foot/needle placement. Also a true beginner bag as there was no fussing with lining & batting which, I don't know about other newbies but I'm just not ready to jump right into all that yet. Thanx again sew sew (haha couldn't resist) much for sharing your knowledge without assuming we already know half of what we should do! Have a great week :D
I love your instruction! I'm new and have subscribed to receive all your videos. (Did you know that subscribers now have to choose receive all? Or they will only get occasional updates) thanks again for your great instruction!
The docorative or Lacy Zipper is great for change purses or dresses. You have sew them on to a finished edge. They get sewn only once on the top. Not sewn twice like a regular zipper. This would be good to show sometime. I use them a lot. I buy them in bulk. Thank you for the series. I have been sewing for over 40 years. I have also used invisible zippers. I did buy the metal invisible zipper foot. It can be sewn in with a zipper foot.

thank you :) and thank you for watching

I didn’t realise there were so many different types of zip. Enjoyed that info. Thanks.
Wow! you can sew backwards and sideways. Good tutorial.
Oh my gosh! You have inspired me to make my own decorative zippers. Never saw them before!
Beautiful fabric, do you prewash your fabrics before doing a project especially clothes.
yes
Thank you Laura. Love that fabric 🥰. Take care and God Bless, Chris-Raleigh NC
Love all your videos...and you are great at sewing from the back of the machine so we can all see what you are doing!
Yet another very informative and easy-to-follow tutorial. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much Laura. As always a great tutorial. Looking forward to your next video. 🌺🌺🌺
For some reason, I’ve always been intimidated by zippers. This clears it up so much for me. I’m going to make this! Thank you, I love your videos.

I just love how you share your knowledge... they should have duplicated you for home economics classes...your the best teacher ever
Do you always sew sitting to the side of the machine, or is it just for demonstration? It’s changed the way I think about my sewing set up!
This is great! Thank you for explaining the different zippers. Your tutorials are so easy to follow. Thank you Laura.
Thank you for sharing! I will be trying this. I had given up on putting zippers in my crafts but the way you have explained it...I think I can! Thank you again!
I didn’t realize there were so many zippers. I just got a multi pack from Amazon. I want to make a bag like yours, never have. Thank You
Dear Laura, this is a great tutorial. Could you please make a tutorial on the lined version of this pouch. Thanks a lot.
Sewing from the back side of the machine!!! OMG :)
Lovely zipper technique! Thank you, Laura 🥰👏

you can double back, it will just make it stronger :)
Takes a lot of experience to sew sideways!
Your instructional videos are so awesome!
If we use waterproof fabric, that would make a great wet bag for bathing suits or diapers!
Love your teaching style
But I don't know how to sew over the heavy duty zipper without breaking the needle
Do not try to go over it go on the backside where you have just the fabric.

Loved this one😁
Thank you Laura, It was great following along with your video, I love all your little tips. Had fun making my bag.
Thank you, Laura! I’m going to make several bags in different sizes. Off to the fabric store today for zippers and fat quarters!!
First 2 are failures. I guess it takes practice? Thank God for Walmart $1 zippers!
You just took the mystery out of zipper sewing, good video, enjoyed it. I like your little sweater, cute.
Thank you again for explaining something that we all are trying to figure out.😊
Very cute and you made it simple. Thanks.
Yes. She is a GREAT TEACHER BARB4578.

Thank you and I am glad it was helpful :)
Great video. Love Simply Sewing .
I love your videos! You do a great job explaining the sewing projects! I also LOVE your ring that is on your right hand! Is that an August birthstone?
thank you and I don't know lol I just loved the ring :)
I admire the fact that you can sew upside down.
I love the flower fabric! Can you buy it on line?
Great instructions! Thanks for sharing.
This is so helpful thank you so much!!
Laura you are amazing. You sew better from the side of the machine than I do in front of the machine. Thanks for sharing.
Same here! That was so impressive. lol
I love that fabric. Its very retro.
Great instructions Laura!
Love this! Thank you!
You are an excellent teacher!
