What a clever, clever way to sew,, after 50 years of sewing, you have taught me something new, Thank you.
Thanks so much, so glad this was helpful!
This is the only way I’ve seen to make scrunches so far, but cool! Thanks for the good tutorial.
This video was so well done! My eleven-year-old just sewed her first scrunchie following this method, and now she's onto number two and has plans for at least 71 more with a whole bunch of fabric she just inherited! 😄
I love that! So glad it was helpful!
This was a clear and concise video. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
The instructions are very well done. Nice job ladies
❤️
What a “cool trick”. You have taught an old woman something. You both know what you are doing and how to present the info. Too many on UA-cam do not and should not be trying to teach others. Thank you,
Thanks!
This is a common technique called the "Burrito Method". Still is effective, however before turning loop right sides out, I insert elastic through tube, stitch elastic ends together, then pull it all through the 2" opening I've left. This achieves the same end result, it's just a bit easier to thread the elastic right through the center of the tube, rather than fish it through once turned right side out. Beautifully made video!
Thanks for watching!
I'm not sure I understand your method with the elastic. Could you please explain the details step by step?
@@emilybarnhart5919before you turn the tube the right way out, thread your elastic through the inside out tube. Tie or stitch the two ends together, then just keep on as this tutorial instructs (turn it all right way out). You'll then end up with the scrunchie right way out with the elastic already inside. I know it sounds confusing but it's easy to do. I did it myself and I still don't understand the engineering involved 😂
Nice! Thank you@@LilaBear
I've been sewing scrunchies with this method for a few years, it's really the best way! Instead of stitching the elastic I just tie the elastic ends together before stitching the scrunchie opening, and just add an extra inch or so to the elastic measurement.
Nice!
I had heard about sewing scrunchies using the burrito method, but hadnt seen how it was done, i am so glad i found your video, now i know how to do the burrito method for scrunchies, i will definitely be trying it. I also love that you shared the 3 different sizes of scrunchies. Thank you for sharing your time, and your talent with all of us.
You are so welcome! So glad you liked it!
Loved this video. I have never made a scrunchie so fast without issues before. Thank you!
Awesome! So glad to hear it!
Wow how easy are they. I have avoided the scrunching making too fiddly but since watching your video I have made seven (7) for our 70th birthday party this weekend. Thankyou so much.
Happy birthday! Glad you found the scrunchie making as fun and easy as we do!
Cool. I add the elastic before I turn mine over. Good job.
Great idea!
This method is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! A great idea!!!! Thanks Haley.
Glad you liked it!!
The measurements for different sizes are so helpful! Thanks!
Wow your instructions are very clear thank you lots
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you for explaining in inches. So much easier for me ❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
I like that you sewed the elastic instead of doing the knot so that the elastic is smooth inside of the scrunchie. This is also nice for slim scrunchies which are my faves.
So glad you liked it!
EXCELLENT tutorial! Thank you!!❤
Glad you found it helpful! 😊
Once mastered this is the easiest and speediest way of making scrunches and they look so neat and professional! Thank you so very much x
You are so welcome!
finally someone who sews a scrunchie the way i do, simple and easy, everything you have done is the way i do mine right down to machine stitching the elastic ends thats for a great video
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
thank you so much!!! this was awesome!!! the magic loop reveal is incredibly satisfying
Thanks so much for this tutorial!! Looking at it the first time it seemed quite complicated (I’m a sewing newbie) but once actually following the instructions, it was super easy and intuitive dare I say? 😁 I made 2 different sizes back to back and they look great ❤🎉
That's awesome! So glad it was helpful. :-)
Thank you for this tutorial. It is really easy to follow and I really appreciate the different sizes. 😊
You did an amazing job with this tutorial, I really like the way you take your time and explain probatum. Thank you so much for this video
Glad you enjoyed it!
There’s an easier way when doing the elastic. Before turning the scrunchy right side out, you slide your elastic through the tube; tie the elastic in a knot; then turn it. I think it’s a real time saver.
That's a great method too!
Won't the knot maybe come undone?
@@teresaguerrero3751”Knot” in my experience! 😅😅😅
@@teresaguerrero3751I like a sewn elastic so that it’s smooth.
I just made 18 scrunchies using this fantastic video! Just like cooking, I wish I'd read the comments first. lol This method of adding elastic is brilliant! I'm also a fan of tying the elastic because it's just so efficient.
this would be such an easy way to sew an infinity scarf! awesome technique!
Oh good idea! Definitely!
@@SeamworkVideoHi, im in my mid 30s and have Never used a sewing machine! I wouldnt know how to turn it on, what stitch to use, how to thread needle.. Could you make a tutorial for ULTRA BEGINNERS? Would love to make some scrunchies for my daughter and canvas tote bags.
😊
@@AussieMumVLOGSyou need a basic sewing tutorial rather than trying to bundle all those basic sewing skills into a tutorial for a specific project. I'm sure there's heaps on UA-cam. My sewing machine actually came with a DVD with tutorials on it for how to use the machine!
@@AussieMumVLOGSalso genuinely not intending to be rude but did you not learn basic sewing in highschool? I'm the same age as you, maybe a year or two older, also Australian, and we learnt machine sewing in home economics for a semester in year 8. (That was our first year of highschool in Qld... I think other states it was year 7).
In my Google search I studied each thumbnail on this tutorial and chose this. Once I realized it was Seamwork, I knew I'd hit gold. This method is fantastic! Time for some birthday party loot bag treats ☺️
That's awesome!
I followed this tutorial and omg after the first mess up by sewing it right side up I started over and did it the right way 😅 (made a mini 18”x3”) and it turned out perfect. I just need to work on the top stitch to close the scrunchie thank you so much for this video.
I'm so glad it worked out! 😁
I've been wanting to make scrunchies thanks so much for sharing.
What an eye opener! I do that with infinity scarves but never thought to do that with a small scrunchie! No more hand sewing for me!
So glad it was helpful! We love this method.
This is fantastic. Such a quick and easy project. Now time to open my Day Two project.
❤️
Wow! I am so glad I saw your video! I was dreading turning the tube inside out, it always seems to take soooooo long. This was an amazing way to sew these together. Thank you!!!
You are welcome! So glad it helped!
OMG I love how easy that is, thank you.
Aren't they so fun?! 😄
Really good teaching you made it so easy. I try it and it was so easy. Blessings to your business .
Thank you so much!
I had a hard time seeing the elastic at the end but I think I finally crack the code on scrunchies. Thank you so much for the video.
Glad it was helpful!
Absolutely love your video sew simple great demo
Thanks so much!
A Scrunchie Burrito! Great!
Just made 2 little scrunchies with this method. So fun and easy!!
Awesome! They are so fun to make.
I love magic! I know I will be satisfied too when I give it a go... thanks for the inspo for gift giving.
Have fun! I love when sewing feels magical!
Great Tutorial. Thank You for Sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
I use this method. From one yard, I can get exactly 4 XL scrunchies cut at 6 inches X WOF, 4 regular cut at 4.5 X 1/2 WOF and 2 mini cut at 3 inches X 1/2 WOF. Elastic is cut at 9, 8 and 7 inches respectively. I knot the elastic as it’s my preference. Then I hand stitch the opening closed. I learned this from trial and error, many many errors. 😂
Nice! I love that you have a scrunchie system in place.
What is the meaning for WOF
@86jananii it means Width of Fabric ..
Just found your site, so happy!
Happy sewing!
Do you have a tutorial for doing a bunny ear or long tail scrunchie? Also do you have a tutorial on how to do a scrunchie with a hair tie? You are a great teacher btw.
This is our only scrunchie tutorial, but there are lots out there with all kinds of methods. Have fun!
Thank you for sharin😅 nicely explained wow
Just sewed my first scrunchie plus 2 more
Nice job!
I am going to make some with my favorite cotton fabrics. Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial 💕💕
You are so welcome!
Wow amazing. I thought pillow cases were the easiest doing sort of like this .Thank you !! Awesome fun
Hi love the video on jumbo scrunchies what an amazing way & easy to follow thank you 😊 ❤
Thanks for watching!
New to the channel, loved the video. =). Also brand new to sewing at ripe old age of 63. Hoping this old dog can learn some new tricks. This “easy” tutorial looks complicated to me as a newbie but I am going to give it a try once I get some elastic. Every new thing I want to try requires I buy something else. Ha…. My tiny sewing spot in my guest room is bursting at the seams, no pun intended. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks!
Welcome, and thanks for watching! You might find this video helpful as you're building up your arsenal of sewing tools: ua-cam.com/video/VwI8xUDIWNo/v-deo.html
Fabulous video, thank you. About to make scrunchies for my little Grandaughters.
This is a great tutorial and I can't wait to try it!
Have fun!
Thank you I now understand
Thank you so much for this video. I like those minis but can't find them in colors in the store. Now I know how to make them.
So glad you liked it! These are so fun to make!
Mind. Blown.
It's pretty great, right!? Fun and easy!
So glad I found your channel xo
Welcome!! Glad to have you here!
Thank you ❤😊
No problem!
Thanks
You're welcome!
Love the technique! I am making a quince robe for my daughter's Christmas gifts so I may add a scrunchie with the scraps. By the way, the replays and the claps were a fun addition! Love watching you guys and thanks!
Glad you liked the video! A Quince and a matching scrunchie sounds like a perfect combo!
Thanks for the great tutorials! I just made one of these and the drew headband for last minute gift. I love the techniques for both patterns!
Yay! So glad you like them.
I have made a lot of scrunchies using this method and it works great. I make these for some of my friends that have thick long hair and want to be able to wrap them twice. What would be the best size elastic and length of fabric for these. Same question for thin hair.
We used the same elastic length regardless of hair type, but you could definitely experiment with how long you make it depending on preference.
I have and still use some scrunchies I purchased in 1991!
That's awesome!
I love your nail color. Where do you get it? Thanks!!
The nail polish is Mall Crawler by Essie 💅
Super helpful!!❤
I'm so glad!
great technique thankyou
Thanks Annette!
Omg thanks so much I've seen a lot videos but this one is the most helpful one thanks so much for you're videos you got a new subscriber🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm so glad!
Great technique! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Andrea!
Though your directions are really clear and easy to follow I found this method to be extremely frustrating with a 3" width band but much easier with wider ones.
Oooohhh I will have to convince my fingers that we can coordinate this!
You got this!
Love it, I will need to try this technique.
It's super fun! Hope you give it a try!
Going to try this! But I do wish more sewing tutorials would use fabric that has a clear front and back side so that it's easier to figure out which way they are sewing it. But thank you still!
Thanks for the suggestion.
Amazing. Thanks
You're welcome!
Subscribed. thank you ❤️
Awesome! Thank you!
I’m trying this today! 💗 Thanks.
You're welcome! Have fun!
Great video!!!
Glad you liked it!
Which type fabric is used for making scrunchies? Can we make scrunchies with cotton fabric?
Cotton is a great fabric for scrunchies!
Fantastic!
Glad you like it!
This is genius! 😊
I just tried making a couple scrunchies for fun this week. I nailed one because I followed directions to a T. But I played around with my third one on the fabric sizes and it didn’t turn out very “scrunchy”. It was jumbo looking, as I wanted it however. I’d thought it was the elastic where I went wrong. Thinking I needed thicker elastic to make it appear fuller inside. But now I really think I needed the fabric to be much longer. My measurements were 4x24. 4”when folded. So I did actually cut it 8” wide so it would eventually be 4”.
It definitely takes some experimentation to find what works when you make your own size!
This is genius!!!
Thank you! So glad you like it!
What kind of elastics would you recommend? I would like to try the non-roll elastics but they’re unavailable in my country. Do you have any alternatives? Also what would the the ideal width of the elastic? Thank you im advance ❤
Haley likes to use 1/4" elastic for scrunchies!
@@SeamworkVideo thank you so much! ❤️
Awesome video ❤
So excited to try this technique ❤
Yay! I hope you enjoy it when you do!
Brilliant! ❤️
Could someone give me the times in which I would find the sizes please.
I want to make some templates up to create more consistency
The time stamp for sizes is 3:18. Have fun!
love it!
❤️
I wonder what a decent price would be for the largest ones?
Oh, BTW: You can use a zip tie to thread your elastic through your tube.
Just snip off the tab end and make a small slit with a craft knife.
What kind of shirt is Sarai wearing?? It is great!
It's a top from Doen: shopdoen.com/products/june-top-black
@Seamwork a
Awesome, thank you! Just an idea but that kind of top could be an awesome pattern for Seamwork! Love some good gathering.
@@ategetho The Madhu top has a somewhat similar look, but with elastic rather than binding. It's not quite as billowy, but the silhouette isn't that different if you like the gathered look. I bet you could even size up for more volume! Plus, it's an easy make! www.seamwork.com/catalog/madhu
What's the best elastic for super thick hair - I hate when they stretch out too wide to wear on my wrist or when they're too restricted to allow me to do my normal bun.
I'm not sure! I would get a few different widths and experiment with what feels most comfortable.
Hi. Sailie (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) your jeans fit you perfectly! Are they your pattern?
They are not actually jeans, they are the straight leg pants from Everlane! 👖
Thanks .. 😎 I like it
So glad you liked the tutorial!
what about the hand held sewing machines
It might be hard to use this technique if you also have to hold the sewing machine. Good luck!
This is the method I've been using for 3 yrs now.. the burrito method
Substitute chopsticks that are still together and put the elastic in the slit for a substitute bodkin!
Cool tip!
Where do you get a bob pin?
I'm not sure I understand the question. Could you elaborate?
What is an edge stitch?
An edgestitch is stitching that happens right on the edge of a seam.
I haven’t watched all of this yet. But my question is do you have different sizes for different amounts of hair? My daughter has long and thick hair but daughter has thinner hair.
There are a few size suggestions -- you can totally customize the sizes on these.
Could you please tel me the sizes of elastic for the jumbo and classic scrunchies? I didn’t understand
All of the sizes call for an 8" length of elastic.
great
Can you give me the measures in cm please
Sure! Try 101cm x 15cm for a jumbo, 71cm x 10cm for a regular, and 46cm x 8cm for a mini.
