Thieves couldn't steal this truck, so I did!

- Someone attempted to steal this truck and failed when they couldn't figure out how the lock cylinder and shift mechanism worked, so they bailed and left it damaged. I got called asking if I could secure it and tow it back to the main fleet shop for repairs, but unfortunately my truck was in the shop getting the @onspotnorthamerica22 automatic tire chains installed. But then I realized that if I could get the truck running, I could drive it the short distance back to my yard so that the vehicle would be off the side of the road and safe until I got my wrecker back a couple days later.
After my truck was done, I hooked up the @zackliftinternational4841 and got the truck towed back to the shop, then Ethan and I hooked up the gooseneck trailer to go on a late night long distance recovery of a ford truck that blew the transmission in a remote area of eastern Oregon.

Really glad that you finally got somebody to go out on these runs with you on a regular basis and help you out that knows exactly what they're doing
Sometimes the best helper has no idea what to do, So that they don't have any bad habits yet.
For April Fools Day, you should tell people you remove the drive shaft to keep the turbo from spinning and starting the truck.
😂🤣😂🤣
Love it!! 😂😂😂😂
No it's to stop from destroying the radiator bearings!
causes the blinker fluid to boil over.
@@cooloutdoor7008 You mean the Radimorator bearing, it's got a sensor, shuts her down.
OK you say hold your breath, and then an advertisement comes up, and then we went through the tunnel. You almost killed me Casey
Welcome Ethan…Rusty has seniority 😎 and he will say he’s good at what he does
Best comment hhh
I thought Grumpy had the SENIORity......
the hold your breath thing comes from early cars that produced way more carbon monoxide and tunnels did not have good ventilation
This along with apparently it being a superstition that if you can make it the entire tunnel holding your breath, you make a wish at the end of the tunnel and it'll come true. This was just a quick Google search, but I've done this since I was a child and I've always just associated it with exactly what you said.
Great, you have Ethan. He asks questions we would ask. Glad you not alone out there.
conversation I just had:
wife: why the hell are you watching videos on some guy in Oregon that does towing?
me: first, he does more than towing. he does rescues as well.
wife: my question still applies.
me: second, I like to learn things. even if its things i'm most likely never going to do, knowledge is power. you never know when something you "learned" that's completely unrelated to the problem at hand, comes in handy.
it's the old Boy Scout in me (before they got woke and weird.)
it's the reason all my vehicles have full size spares, and not donuts.
it's the reason they all have jumper cables, most have a bag with gloves/pump/flares/triangles/blankets (some recent new additions to the Fleet, and they still need to be kitted out.)
it's the reason the jeep has tow straps and I leave a shackle adapter in the hitch opening.
it's the reason I upgraded my trauma kits and training after a major school bus accident not too far from me, and some kids died from bleeding out.
you see what others do. you gleen nuggets of information, that might turn out to be worth more than gold at the Opportune Moment.
My wife has decided I’m certifiable anyways so… But I’m all too happy to explain when she asks… I know my explanation is perfect by the rolling eyes.
Yup. When I road trip I carry a lot of stuff.
I like how he walks you through step by step and explains everything to you. It takes the mystery out of it. Makes it so you know what you're watching.
@@coleroth6980 Simple, he bees the teacher, how to properly do a safe tow. You intend to do something, do it right! Eh?
Love how excited Casey was with 'Catastrophic!' But then, who doesn't like a good catastrophic failure??
and that is a good one .. lol
Any diagnostician loves that kind of catastrophe because it removes all doubt and dispenses with all guessing about what went wrong with a vehicle!
@@richellen6855although root cause analysis will often reveal deeper, sometimes systemic, problems that are very much not obvious. Like what if the transfer case suffered catastrophic failure due to contamination of the oil in the differential, and that contamination happened at the refinery due to improper maintenance of equipment because the millwright was having a bad day after his wife filed for divorce because he forgot to pay the cable bill so she missed a rerun of 'Friends'. (It's all Matthew Perry's fault.)
Smart move on having somebody with you at night in remote locations
Hahaha, "everybody hold your breath there's a tunnel" youtube inserts ad right as Casey enters the tunnel...
Then we find out he is trying to improve our lung capacity. Perfection
Same happened for me! Held my breath through a 30 second adv AND the tunnel.
I like the big screw in the left inner dual tire that is visible while you are removing the drive shaft.
I'd bet those trucks get pre-tripped far more often than 99% of the OTR trucks on the road. Nice to see Safety officer Rusty taking his job so seriously ;-)
It does help they are a little easier to pre trip also.
I thought parents had their kids hold their breath going through tunnels to keep them quiet for awhile.
🤣😂🤣😂
my parents had us do this when passing by a cemetary. the worst one was at the corner of a 4 way intersection.
That's funny. I wonder why they did that?
Having been born in MA and lived in OR, I appreciate both of you. The fact your keep getting more and more complicated jobs is a tribute to your skills.
Not fair - the ad-break came up JUST as you entered the tunnel! My wife got mad at me turning blue!
Welcome aboard Ethan!
The problem with holding your breath through the tunnel is that UA-cam put an ad in the middle of it😅
Casey theres a tunnel between Italy and France called Frejus tunnel id dont think youd hold your breath thru it i quite regular use it and its 13 kilometres long lol
An ad came on when you entered the tunnel I was holding my breath, I died.😀😀
I'm a firefighter/1st responder, strobes are great for highway visibility BUT when you've got as many as 5 trucks on a scene all running strobes for an hour+ you'll get sick of them real quick. The idea is to have the option to isolate them front/rear so the strobes are only pointed at traffic. Of course it rarely works out that way but at least you have the option.
The other problem, many emergency vehicles on divided highways have flashing lights warning the other direction, even though there is no hazard. Everyone slows down to rubber neck.
Strobes also have tendency to blind said oncoming traffic. There is such a thing as too bright, the current crop of ridiculous headlights included.
@@joelmurphy7980 Twice we've had drivers at night "zone in" on the strobes and run right into the back of the truck. They're no doubt visible for a mile away but at the same time they're simply overkill.
@@ZootSuitCooter A few weeks ago, on a very dark rural two lane straight road on Cape Cod, I saw in the distance that a PD cruiser had pulled over behind a vehicle on the opposing side. The overhead strobes were going, but were at a low intensity so that they were actually less blinding than some headlights. So I was able to clearly and safely know where to go to avoid him. There are been times where the strobe lights have been so blinding that I can’t see where I need to be, especially after having had cataract surgery.
Its only a matter of time before those lights actually cause a worse accident or send a driver into an epileptic seizure then after the lawsuit they will own the police department and return to the gum drop lights, like in Mayberry
I'm not sure Ethan fully understands the extent of his new job.
He'll have his work cut out standing in for our stupid questions.
Ethan will learn.
😂😂😂
U-Haul seems to be your best customer :)
They are a great customer and very nice to work with. But I have a couple others that keep me busier
I got messed over with holding my breath thru the tunnel. The advertisement came up 😱
We fought ramps for a few years, got tired of the narrow footprint and the weight. Pulled the flatbed in the shop and built a full width hydraulic ramp, worth every penny.
304k of stop and go in a box truck is seriously impressive.
Always impressed by that drive-shaft-bag, and even more by the drive-shaft-bag-ziplocks.
And by pulling that knot through the fairlead ;-)
Good call on the red rotating lights. Looks great! ❤
Goid job, complete ingenuity under all circumstances,
Merry Christmas Ethan,
good to have you aboard
TEAM CASEY 🎉❤🎉
I think it is really cool that you get some help and some company. Thanks for sharing.
Your truck look more and more perfect !
Only the big fence left in the front now, and mayby a vinsch ofc ! 😉
I love travelling with. It is beautiful and relaxing for an old lady sitting down and watching the view.
Dont' know why everyone is critical about you doing your pretrip, as it is your equipment your operation, your pocket book, i'm just happy you share all that you share thank you Casey!
Thank you for the video. I was having extreme Zack Lift withdrawal.
Excellent video, love your channel, very interesting! Stay safe out there❤️🙏
Youve found a good employee who obviously loves that kind of work as much as you do. ( and you didnt feel obligated to provide some young female eye candy like some sites) I appreciate that. LOVE YOUR WORK !!!
It's good to see you got some help now the added humor and you're patience with explaining really helps everybody watching whether they admit it or not.
Teach him to always assess the situation & conditions and to do so throughout the job as it constantly changes!
I loved the pause when you were discussing 3 stage vs. single stage. I'm old... I heard the Modem training up sounds in my head while you made that face.
I held my breath all the way, but had to "skip" the add that popped up just as you went in. So I added at least 5 seconds to the time in the tunnel ☺
Good morning from DRW!
I towed an f-150 with a tow dolly. Went 25 miles, just left the engine running. Trans was fine. Towed because of broken tie rod, no steering.
I love your emergency light setup Casey. I can’t say it enough!
I agree, strobe lights are blinding and distracting!
For future reference, when you're pointing at the shifter at 0:20 , screen left of your finger is the shift lock release, it's the little white knob. Pull that and you can shift the truck regardless of if the key is on or not.
Good morning Casey you need a trailer like Ben has it would make hauling a lot more easier. Since he can unload a vehicle in under 5 minutes with two remotes one for the winch and one for the tilt trailer.
A broken transfer case was mentioned. This is usually cause by driving on hard surface while in FWD.
I'm glad you have some help Casey. Blessings sirs.
Dang, an ad came on just as you entered the tunnel. I almost died.
I feel ya Casey I dont like the police light's because if Im passing a police vehicle and they have someone pulled over Im abit blinded buy the lights which in my opinion is a safety hashard.
360 white work lights is more important than a strobe that blinds people
Awesome recoveries! 👌 Thank you for sharing 👌
As I was watching your video, I realize you were close to where we live. I wanted to write you a request and I don’t know if you will see it. My ex-husband was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in his bones. We just recently went through chemo and he is stable, they say he can live anywhere from a year to seven. One thing he loves is your videos and watches it all the time and never misses one. He’s always talking about you and has got me hooked on your videos too. he has a collection of movie stars, and comedians such as Gallagher and other movie stars that he has collected autographs in his life. but one thing I know that would make him so happy is if he got to meet you if you were ever in the Springfield, Creswell or cottage Grove area, he would love to see you and get to meet you, just throwing it out there. God bless.
You got me again, holding my breath.
It is funny Michigan State Police have one large red rotator light on top of their cars. Easy to see but not blinding.
On wrecker i can see white lights ,mounted shining down for work areas. Portable lights for further out.
Stroller for hauling loot away of course.
You guys are a good team!
So happy! Ethan is a valuable asset to the company!
Man I'm glad you explained why you were towing the truck earlier than later in the video than later, instead of driving it. I almost jumped the gun and asked that Same question. Good job!
I enjoy the hooking up and hauling. I also enjoy getting to the destination and unhooking. Eugene to east of Burns is a long haul. Was that the same day? I imagine not.
Yes
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Love the lights! You might want to get a UV resistant polish or flexible UV resistant clear coat for them. (Make sure it is flexible or it will crack) The plastic will last much longer and stay looking nice.
I love old school rotating lights like those amber ones
Very glad to see you have help with you now 😊. Great content 👍 guys, thanks for sharing.
Good job. Good bless you and your family and your friends too. Have a safe days out there like watching your videos miss driving tow truck and helping people to.
I scathed my FIL's truck with the gooseneck once. He was incredibly gracious about it and I'm forever thankful to have known him.
Thank you Casey for the lung capacity exercises...
That tunnel always brings back fond memories of growing up in western Oregon. Been through it a hundred times.
Jack of all trades Master of many, kudos to you Casey from a guy in Newfoundland
Totally agree with your lighting choice. I prefer the halogen rotators as well. Especially in a cold climate they won't ice up as much.
When you jumped on that winch line it gave me a start, because I did the exact same thing trying to get my winch line out and didn’t realize I was not in free spool . I busted my A$$ on the trailer deck and was sore for several days 😢. Some lessons are learned the hard way 😉, but not soon forgotten .
Because of you, i am insisting on a scene mode for my agency’s next ambulance. Basically it slows the strobe pattern as to be less dazzling.
Welcome Back Ethan. This will help Casey have a second hand. You guys get along great. Nice nite recovery Casey. Wishing you both and your Family a Merry Christmas Christmas. Also to Grumpy Too🎄
Ethan needs a bonus for dealing with BS.
Casey starts the stolen truck. Ethan chuckles. I love it!!
Casey says that "he loves catastrophe" hahaha, I don't think the client thinks the same, but at the end of the day it's good for both Casey's business and for us who have a new entertaining video hahaha.
Welcome Ethan!
Hey Casey, there is this little known company called Yankum that makes a video to show people how to remake a loop at the end of their winch line.
Hello Ethan nice to meet you and VERY glad Casey has you to help as he has needed a full time helper for a year or so now.
That WAS a real catastrophic failure.
Welcome to the team East Coast Ethan
Welcome Ethan! this lights looks so-so good !
they were so close like most gamblers they quit right before the big win
It's ok for you holding your breath in the tunnel, I ended up with an advert just after you entered.
We got a 2-fer!! Thanks Casey and Ethan always an adventure with CHR! Oh, I was able to hold my breath through the tunnel this time, maybe Casey's on to something!! 😊
Thanks for putting a add in just as i was holding my breath
NO FAIR !!! I held my breath as you entered the tunnel, and then a commercial popped up. I couldn't get it to go away. I'll try next time. Don in Southeast, NC
This was a fun video. Thanks for sharing.
You're a pro thief, even though you didn't say you're good at it. 😂
He doesn't have to be good at it, he just has to get away before they catch him! :)
@@garyjennyfrost9485 THAT would be good! 🤣
Casey, i installed a small light bar underneath my gooseneck trailer and hooked it up to the reverse trailer wire...
It's amazing how well i can see when i backup at night
It's nice that you have someone to help you with all the shenanigans
Thanks for the tips, CASEY
I love lazy genius with rolling the truck back like that.
Welcome to the team Ethan!
Thanks for the video
Haha 😊😂 I love your rig, keep the dark side down and the shiny side up 😊
Great video thank you!
Smart move Casey... You don't wanna cascade off of a mountain! So sad fer both them work trucks! Good safe recoveries bro! 🚨🚨
Love your adventures.
OH MAN.... THATS why I see funny after the tunnel ride!!
Casey, I almost passed out holding my breath when you were going through the tunnel! UA-cam decided that I needed to watch a commercial as soon as you said hold your breath!
Cool show, I like how you think on your feet n problem solve...beauty...
You clearly missed your calling as a professional car thief! 😀
Casey and Ethan, the "Swiss Army Knife" of many things conventional and unconventional. Cheers!
Awesome! I just went on a rant the other day about strobe lights on work vehicles/snow plows. All they need is those rotating lights. Save the strobes for fire, police and ambulance. Great job as always!
