My 2023 Accord has 15K never had high oil levels or smell of gas in oil. Milage and performance has been great.
Nice ,very good videos 📹

[ Sweet review. DO a follow up of one after say first service and second service as a continous part and have opinion from the driver. You explained it well thank you
If u live in a cold climate, installing a block heater would be a smart. It will definitely be better for the engines quality of life and oil dilution concerns.
Or have an indoor private garage where the temp does not go sub zero (8-10 celsius)
I just got rid of a 2018 6 speed accord with the 1.5T for a brand new Si, had 154,000 yes 154,000 on the car. 80% highway miles, oil changes done at 50% and I drove it. Never had a single issue and yes that was the first year for those engines I believe especially in the accord anyway so that would be the “oil dilution years”. Just warm the car up before use, avoid short trips, change oil sooner = infinite reliability.
highway miles is much easier on the engine
so the engine will last much longer if the car is driven on highways
Is the 2.0 engine better than the Turbo? I am looking at tye Sport model vs the EX model. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've tried this engine in a brand new Accord and I found it harsh, laggy and noisy. I cannot believe some at Honda had approved it and it is now in almost all of their lineup.
which Accord?
@@jamesmedina2062 2022 Honda Accord EX
@@alib8396 Is that a tenth gen or 11th? I thought all the 11th gen Accords were pretty nice. i rode in an Uber but did not own or drive one. I have a 10th gen Civic and the company was negligent in design of many areas especially noise both road and engine, comfort, quality of Chinese sourced side mirrors, door handles, poor paint, bad door latches, AC system, head bolts that stretch and more. In the Civic the engine feels great but has a vibration-full personality because it has no balancing and the cylinders are offset.
@@jamesmedina2062 I am not really sure what gen is 2022 Accord but regardless of that. It is crazy that someone at Honda thinks this engine is befitting of their flagship vehicle and it is not like Honda didn't make great engines before.
I only drove the Honda Accord to sample the engine because I have been considering buying the new Honda ZR-V and it only comes with the 1.5T here in this region. Needless to say I was left hugely disapointed that I might forgo Honda altogether and go shopping somewhere else.
@@alib8396 you raise a good point. Use the 1.5 in lower models like Fit and Civic but leave it out of Accord huh? I agree that the 1.5 is a throwback to unrefined 4's from the 80's. How could it qualify for the Accord when 33 years ago the EX Accord came out with a smooth and balanced 4 cylinder engine that became legendary? You would think 33 years stood for something. The truth is that fuel is no longer derived in the States from oil that is naturally pressurized. The Bakken shale and other shale formations require lots of stimulation to release oil. The majority of oil produced is under expensive fracking processes and our worlds are heating up so at some point some car-makers like Honda will make more money using less fuel with buzzy engines versus the guzzlers that require extra fees. The 3-cylinder engine sold in Europe is really buzzy and underpowered. It has not even been used here. We don't even get sold the smaller cars here. For US models they use fancy liquid filled engine mounts and the turbo smooths the exhaust a little. I think the Accord has gone downstream in terms of luxury. If sales remain strong, Honda will feel vindicated or justified.
I looked at a 1.5 cracked open and the guy was showing some of the parts in it. The crank was designed to be light and not balanced for smoothness. The head bolts and rod bolts were light and weak. It was upsetting to see some of the obvious cost-cutting effects.
Please do a similar video on the 2016 - 2021 Honda Civic 1.5 turbo model. It's a popular model!
We'd love to but unfortunately they are not making those anymore for us to get our hands on one ;)
Great video thanks. So, with these changes, does it seem that Honda has worked to further mitigate the oil dilution issues the previous gen civics had?
No not really the air filter and water filter is still tricky to get to
There are still issues with oil dilution. I have a 2021 Honda Accord 1.5L turbo and even after 3,000 miles the oil level is higher than the max mark on the dipstick. I change the oil sooner to mitigate any issues associated with engine oil diluted with gasoline.
@@TheRichardF10 Why if I do buy a newer Honda, it will only be the 2.0T ones only. I'm happy with my '17 Accord V6 for now.
@@TheRichardF10 that’s weird because I have a 2022 and I don’t have any issues with oil dilution I’m pretty sure they fixed it with the 11th gen civic

Too late, have 3 different L15s in my family. One of them with 129 thousand something miles. None of these engines had issues.
I have a 22 civic 1.5 liter sport touring. I got right when they came out. Has 30k miles on it. Only serviced at the dealer. I’ve had no issues. Runs smooth. Does anyone know the name, or engine code for the 22 1.5 liter?
U find out
It’s an L15. There are differences between the 10th gen and 11th gen engines. But also there are differences between the Si Civic engines and the other Civics.
Not going to mention the rod bearings and oil these engines like to eat?
Is it much difference that the 2019 version?
better piston rings, re worked head gasket and a remap to allow the engine to reach temp quicker in colder climates this was already done on the L engines sold from 2019 anyway
Is there any turbo lag in bumper to bumper traffic?
Not really. There isn't really "turbo lag" in modern engines anymore.
@@TDTVGarage thx!!! Trying to decide between a Sport or EX sedan. Awesome channel and appreciate your honest assessment and insights.
My neighbor just took me for a ride in his new Civic. The engine sure isnt Honda smooth like I remember. Feels like a 15 year old Hyundai.
Almost all new cars with direct-injected engines and the contemporary valve timing settings are rougher and less sewing machine-like as cars were 10-15 years ago.
mine's smooth as butter. not sure what you mean.
@@allseeingeyezz I mean a Honda no longer feels like a Honda. Shame we had a few back in the day and they were great.
I don't know why honda will make the civic look more and more like the accord
At least it looks more mature than the previous generation imho.
It looks sharp and elegant. It doesn't look like a teenager designed it anymore. What's wrong with the aesthetics being more streamlined? Every manufacturer has its unique look.
The Accord is a legend, Civic has always played second fiddle to it. I like the 11th gen Civic, and it looks like a Baby Accord which could get some 20 to 30 somethings a good Family economy car.
Agree!
Is this a good engine? How long should it last? Is there anything bad about a 1.5T engine?
Premature regular blown head gasket. Using premium fuel will limit the damage.
Extremely bad engine carbon build up turbo problems head gasket plow Ect….
Garbage engine good for 50000miles after that it's a bonus life ... Too bad for cold countries .. only heats up inside cabin when its driven above otherwise u feel cold Inside .. u make fuel savings for sure but if engine break at 70000km for and u r expected to spend $4000 $5000 to fix in my case your ALLL saving goes in drain like that.....
This is a terrible motor. It is not ment for turbo. Every single thing on the motor is smaller then the d series. All the major bolts very small. And I do mean all of them. From rod bolt to the head. They are very under size.
ignore all these clowns, Honda has the best engines on the market, period!
that T stands for "trouble"
Are the 2022+ SI also having oil dilutions problems?
Stop trying to buy into negative rumors. The turbo helps, and the car runs fine from experience.
Honda makes good motors. But just not this one. Everything in the L series motor is to small and to weak for a turbo. The d series on old Honda is beefier than this. The crank shaft on this is very small. Imagine the comparing a coke can vs a redbull can. All the major bolts are way to small.
are these the same as the 10th gen 1.5T?
added vtec on exhaust port, so more air going to intake so inceare power and torque
Sooo no fix to oil dilution ?
@@davideaton4988 these Honda's still eating oil? I been driving my honda prelude for 15+ years and it's like a magician. My oil dissappears like magic
@@markymark3071 he meant oil contamination not oil being burnt. Unless your joking.
@@markymark3071 lmao
They are still using this engine in asia
1.5 liter of Hot mess
I avoid all this nonsense never buying a turbo car or gdi engine in the first place. Good luck with oil dilution with no solution
Good like buying anything new in the next 5-10 years
True well stated@@TDTVGarage
Shame on honda the ac compressor still use the conventional ac compressor easily break down.
Air conditioner compressor hand to be replaced 110,000miles they're replacement was around $750
I bought honda civic in 2018. I will never buy Honda again in my life. I will never recommend to buy Honda ...
I presume you have the 1.5 turbo engine that has had issues with oil dilution?
What is wrong with the 1.5?
@@It5M3Again there's been reports that the 1.5 turbo causes stalling, mis fire and power loss though not all engines are affected..
