    Take a look at this Stunning Large tile bathroom floor. You will want one. Large format polished Porcelain tile, 30"x 15". I give you some important info on how I installed this beautiful tile bathroom floor. The large format tile is a very convincing porcelain that looks like a real polished Stone. In this video I give you a bunch of tips on how to make the installation of this large format tile go as smoothly as possible. It is very important that the substrate be as flat as possible when installing large format tiles, this will make it a lot easier to have a lippage free installation, and achieve the correct thinset coverage under the tile, to have a long lasting floor. The floor was installed on Mapegard UM uncoupling membrane, with a Polymer modified mortar using a 3/4" U-Notch Trowel

    Two things made SUCH a big difference for me. Not scooping your mortar from the bucket with your trowel and using a margin trowel. Yes I'm a rookie. Should have paid attention a long time ago

      I will do it both ways, but when you need to scoop out a lot, the margin trowel is much better.

      If the European/Australian mentorship program was ever tried in the US to train industry craftsmen for kids who have no direction in High School then guys like Sal here would be perfect choices for that kind of thing. He works alone, has his standard, gets paid well (no doubt), and enjoys the work. I work as a custodian and dabble in some of this stuff as a matter of circumstance but, it's amazing seeing craftsmen do their jobs.

    You sure do have a lot of things go your way. I just spent a thousand bucks on a Rubi tile cutter for some 49 in pieces I have. It ripped them for about two days and then it just breaks and Destroy them now. I can't afford to change a $50 blade every other day. Probably need a bridge saw but I don't have $2,000 for that. Last time I saw you on a saw was it look like an old and little saw and here you are pulling off all these Great Cuts. And it looks like you're doing pretty good sized projects about one a week. I've been in business a long time and I'm struggling to get one wall done in two days. Happy for you frustrated for me

    I can’t believe you made a 50% staggered floor with 30” porcelain tiles at 1/16” grout space. This prompt so many questions…
    Surely those tiles aren’t actually flat ? Or perhaps it’s just an uncommonly good batch, but it’s still going to have some curvature. Are those levelling clips applying enough torque to flatten these slabs? Is the tile then not under load and tension? And would this then mean you actually have to wait the full 16 to 24 hours before unclamping?

Is there a trim piece that goes over the silicone to finish the look or just leave it with silicone onle? By the by, I wish you'd include the tile brand, series, and color in your videos. Good morning Sal. And another fine job I may add. Your right about tiles getting bigger for residential. On the flip side, I have a question regarding 8*8 quarry tile. The tile has an aggressive grit for non slip. Approx 5000 square feet. My question is; what is the best and easiest way to do the initial clean up after grouting?
    Pre-seal? Have you come across a tool that speeds up the process...such as Raimondi Berta, or Tile-eze 5500? I've done a bit of quarry years and years ago, but it was always smooth. The old red paver with black grout. Thanks for any reply. Matthew

    • @SalDiBlasi
      @SalDiBlasi  3 роки тому +1

      I would use a grout release on that tile, then seal it when it is all finished. Anyone of those grouting tools will speed things up significantly. For A big job like that you may want to rent one of those grout washing machines that you push along for the cleanup.

    Thanks for another great video Sal! I'm getting ready to take on a job using 18"x36" tile. The customer is desiring a brick lay like you install in thi video. From my knowledge laying it in 1/3's is the preferred method. Would you just allow the quality and flatness of the tile dictate that?

    • @SalDiBlasi
      @SalDiBlasi  2 роки тому

      Use a good leveling system, and don't skimp on the number of clips you use.

      Hey I am doing the exact same thing and had the same question. Same size tile 18x36...
      The customer didnt care about the pattern that much to be honest, I wanted to do a 1/3 pattern but the layout was much better with a 1/2 pattern because it blended into the shower, and it avoided smalll cuts in the layout no matter how I tried to figure it out.
      So i decided to go with a 1/2 pattern. The tiles were very flat for their size. I went a bit nuts trying to figure out how to make a 1/3 pattern work but it didnt. I concluded that I was overthinking everything, and kept with the 1/2 pattern.

    Hi Mr. DiBlasi, appreciate all the great content. Currently helping my brother in law renovate a house that he has bought for his family and we ran into an issue with someone we hired to tile a bathroom and shower. In short, we needed to ask the person not to come back after too many excuses on why it was taking so long to complete the job. I was going to try and finish the work myself after watching your videos but I am not sure that’s a good idea never having done a shower tiling job before. This house is located in Nahant, Ma and the house renovation needs to be completed for them to move in by Dec 1 since they have already given notice to there landlord to move out. Is this in your service area and would you be interested in taking a look to quote the job? I appreciate your time. Thanks...

    hey sal wanting your advice. I tore out a kitchen around 80sqft and the fabric of the detra is still stuck so I thought about pouring out self leveler and tiling straight to that to keep the build up minimal. whats your thoughts🤷‍♂️👍

And then large format is considered like 90x90 or 90x120... but yes now they are silling these 2.5mx1.5m tiles and we did job not long ago.. to bad i cant post photo but yeh.. 2.5m would be like 100 inches
