I love that UA-cam actually just straight up recommended this to me on my front page. Love it when I get to see well put together videos from smaller channels. Thanks for the great advice on the housing stuff. Made me log in to look at my house to see what else I can do.
I'm so glad that others are starting to find value in not blocking off massive chunks of the housing space. My partner and I have always been averse to blocking off areas in our house and personal spaces, so it makes me happy to see that there are others who feel the same.
Certain housing items just need to be revised in general. Lofts should allow you to place things on them without glitches, same with stuff like fireplaces, I couldn’t do anything else with mine unless I glitched it on there, and even then the portrait of Nanamo I placed on it floats off the wall a bit. Great video by the way, it just reminded me how frustrating certain things in the housing system can be.
I'm the person this showcase house belongs to! I want to thank Galatunia for doing an AMAZING job on it! I'm so happy to have a nice RP space now. ^^ While using all the floors can mean things are spread out and some areas end up being a little sparse (hopefully to be fixed with the coming housing slot update) it does offer one benefit, and that's in photography. With denser housing builds, I find that a lot of clutter does sometimes get in the way, or there's collision issues with the walls. I personally prefer to have a bit of open space because it can feel less claustrophobic when guests are over. (And yes, do feel free to come visit! My orchestrion plays Bee My Honey 24/7).
Great video! It annoyed me a lot that most house designs I see online; block off the majority of the house. Only make them one fancy small room. I really like the designs in the video! They look great and actually practical! If I ever upgrade to a medium house, I'll look to your designs for inspiration! As for the house I have now. Its a small house in the goblet and goblet pillars are just the worse to deal with! However I've managed make it a beautiful house. 4 very detailed rooms with custom windows, an aquarium and beautiful indoor garden! If you're curious its: Gilgamesh, Goblet, ward 13, plot 7. ^_^
That sounds absolutely lovely! I'll have to pop by when I get the time :D And TELL ME ABOUT IT with the pillars. I cannot wait for when they let us get rid of those (soooooon!)
I like how you went into the ideas surrounding build layouts and themes being important to your builds and how you execute your builds. Something I do alot in my builds is start with a general skeleton of how I want to partition or theme an area. My apartment was designed both in mind to feels like a small cozy bar and bring in themes of the tempest. Starting from the skeleton and building with that general skeleton helped me maximize the look I wanted to create.
UA-cam is scary XD i just bought a ticket for a small House yesterday and was thinking about designing when this came up on my front page! what a perfect timing^^
I am so happy I found this because this is helping me adjust the design of my small house. I am really enjoying your descriptive nature. Its so helpful. You got a sub from me!
I just won my first home and this video was actually a lot of help for inspiration! I've been so stumped on what to do with my basement cause I've been content on using all the space and not just using some of it.
I'm glad I could help! And CONGRATS on winning your house! No harm in buying some cheap NPC vendor furniture and moving stuff around in different layouts too.
Loved this video! Was recommended to me and now I'm following! I'd love to see what you think of the new interior design change - specifically the interesting new challenges that the 'modern' look gives!
Hello Brooke! :D/ Thanks so much for dropping in. I actually published a video on that very topic last week! You can find it by clicking on my username. The TL;DR is I absolutely love it.
Very good video. One thing you may want to mention is, it's harder to decorate larger houses because the square footage of the houses goes up a lot faster than the item count limit.
You're right! I wasn't sure where to add that in without overloading people. But you're right: larges are much harder to pull this off with. Which is ironic given how hard it is to get one.
@@galatunia Trust me I know, I have a private FC and was so happy to get a large FC house when the Empyreum opened, then the Monkeys Paw curled when it came time to decorate. I know people want bigger houses because of the rarity and prestige, but they are definitely a mixed blessing.
@@vfvs11a i want a bigger house for the second open floor, so much potential there. nobody ever use it and chose the basement to make night club instead...
@@KwehShiro I actually have a design made (using a separate program from 14, sue me) for a large that uses all 3 floors. When they *do* increase the item limit (as well as my wife and I actually being able to *get* the large) I look forward to making it a bit more detailed, but there is actually a TON you can do even with the current limit
I've been a housing lover for a few years now and consider myself to be somewhat knowledgeable, but this video taught me so much and gave me plenty of good ideas for my next build!! Great video and awesome examples thank you so much!
i always use both floors in my small, and on both the main and basement have loft/sub floors so i can make a bedroom above a bathroom, and a retainer loft above my living room, and a dedicated kitchen area.
Thank you SO MUCH! I always suggest starting with an apartment :D/ Cheapest housing in the game that's usually still accessible, and a great way to see if you enjoy the housing system.
Housing is one of my favorite things in XIV, but there are definitely things I wish were better. The reliance on floating to do some basic stuff is a nightmare sometimes. Larges also don't have nearly enough item slots right now in general and basically forces you to block off something or leave large open spaces unless you are using the largest set pieces to fill a room, like some of the meeting tables. I was a big proponent of not blocking off areas for the longest time because my personal was a small and I couldn't stand how little space you have on the top floor compared to the basement. It definitely led to a few iterations of a sparsely decorated top floor while the basement was sectioned off into multiple, well decorated rooms with solid themes. I eventually learned how to utilize the space better, though my FC house needs some work since it is a small and also fell into this trap for a different reason. However, once I upgraded my personal to a medium I decided to go all out on the detail, cutting off both the top floor and large parts of the basement. I actually intended to use the basement at first, but once I started building out the ground floor and floating stuff up to simulate different kinds and styles of furniture, I rapidly ran out of usable space. Whenever the furniture cap goes up I'll probably revisit the design and try to make use of the top floor, since there is less to hide up there and was more of an aesthetic choice to not use it. I have been feeling the itch to redecorate again, so I might go give the FC house a redesign again and make use of some of these tips!
I don't glitch at all with my housing, so this video was a good idea of the amazing stuff you can do with glitching. I'm pretty happy with my house, but I'm open to making improvements
My first build in this game was born out of pure spite and anger at this very issue. It's a fully utilized three story small house (basement has a loft second floor to it) basically just to prove that I could. There's more space in there than half the mansions I see. The build is still up if anyone's curious, it's going to be on the too low side if your character is very tall, it was made to femra/malebun scale. W12P21 Mist on Spriggan.
I love this house! Can you please make a guide on how you made it🙏🏼 I would love to make it for my small cottage👉🏼👈🏼 Loving the helpful content, much love❤
Thanks so much Shuriken! I can happily add a similar build to my to-do list. I'm currently testing a "build with me" format for the next house video so if it works out I can revisit this little gothic style :D It won't be exactly the same if I do that (as this home was designed around some OCs near and dear to the homeowner) but I'm confident I can nail a similar atmosphere.
its a matter of choices and preferences really, for example you want to make wooden ceiling in S house square space, you can use 4 troupe stage instead of 9 wooden floor. Is it doable? yes... Is it checked with your themed? Yes... but some still choose wooden floor just for its pattern and color. That's why every time i do commission (used to) the first thing i always ask and confirm it after the theme was "which one is your priority? More spaces? or more detailed?"
great video! im in the camp that cuts off space to go more detailed but the community needs more people showcasing designs and guides like this for people who want to decorate this way and use more space if they wish. it does suck, on the other hand, the amount of people who will insult the builds that are more dense using less of the space. i see it way too often, even written in message books. i think we can all agree that house decorating is our own creative space to do with how we like, and that its good to have a range of methods.
Been redecorating my FC's Large, and my own Private Small over the last couple years. Pretty happy with the progress I've made, but always looking for new ideas, techniques, and inspiration. As new housing items get introduced there's an opportunity to do something different, and free up some item slots to expand on ideas in other areas of the house.
100% agree about modern builds haha, they just LOVE to eat item slots. (Not a designer myself, have tried.. and am carp at it lol) but was still interesting to see some of the things you bring up!
Many dense builds are cool as hell. I still love using the entire house. I had to cut a small section of our FC home basement and I felt terrible for it.
Thats why i designed my Small house like i did, its really sad to see so many good housing designs just being a single floor, i made mine almost look like a 3 floor house, Modern style as modern as it gets and a nice Monochrome (as good as it gets)! Good Video and great exlanations, really!
I like this decoration so much. I hope once they add more slots, you would come back and upgrade this home. Would like to see what stuff u can come out with 😮
I have managed to decorate my FC’s small and my personal Medium without cutting off any floors! It’s always those last few slots that I fight with, for sure. Picking what details I *really* want to keep with what I’ve got left, and making sure that no one corner of my house feels particularly empty 😅. I can’t wait for more item slots!
I agree with this entire Video! I have a small on Hyperion in Shirogane Ward 20 Plot 50 and I use every possible space and have a Bedroom, Bathroom, Library, Kitchen, Dining Room along with 2 lounge areas. Even with a small the possibilities are endless!
Instant follow, we're looking into getting FC house for our tiny fc and I've been stressing how to decorate it once we get it (as I'm current lead and the most artistic of the group when it comes to visuals), this vid actually gave some good advice!
It’s so dumb that we even have to worry about this. They need to just put in more furniture slots already wtf, and make a system that would just let you float stuff horizontally without having to glitch🫠 seriously why the heck not??
8:30 "Something more futuristic" Yup, that's actually my FC house. I didn't do the design, I had it commissioned by Sally Snow, but can back up what's being said in this video. You can do designs like that, but it'll cost you in real estate space. That design is a single floor in a medium house and uses 298 of the 300 item limit. Does look amazing though. Come and see it in person if you're interested! We're on Materia which anyone can cross DC travel to at the moment, the house is on Ravana in Lavender Beds, Ward 3, Plot 11.
I love the window over the kitchen counter with the moonlit window adding filigree over the phasmascape but do you maybe have any tips for placing that? When I try either random bits of filigree vanish into the phasmascape or I get the blue of the window peeking through no matter how thoroughly I make sure everything is flush with no angles.
So the weird thing about phasmascapes it their surface isn't flat: it's curved. That's why parts of your window keep disappearing even though you're trying to keep things flush. There's 2 ways to get around this. The first is to adjust your phasmascape. You can either move it to the side and find the spots that will accept your window, or you can rotate it juuuuust slightly to try and find the sweet spot for the window scene you're trying to make. The second is to angle your window rather than trying to place it flat. A stage panel (or a white rectangular partition if you need something smaller) with a wooden beam attached to it. Place the window on the beam, and then rotate the wall the window and beam are connected to. It's finicky, but you can get some very subtle turns with grid snap turned off.
@galatunia I'll see if I can't get it to work in an apartment as I just finished redoing my fc room a couple hours ago and don't want to tear my house apart just yet to try it. 😅 But thanks so much for replying, I really appreciate the tips a lot.
I have a medium house and I used all 3 floors, the only thing is you can't have an overly fancy build that's all. You did a really good job on the both floors, I like it.
Wow I have been looking for videos like these. Talking floor planing. Simple. Pros and cons. We own a FC small house. How would you work around the FC member rooms door on the first floor? Any ways to make it look like a custom door?
Hello Andreas! Thanks for tuning in, and yes, there absolutely is :D In my housing glitches video I showcase a small house that keeps the FC door accessible while looking custom, but if you don't have time to watch here's the general TL;DR: The best way to make your FC door look custom, but still useable, is to make use of things like windows or even bookshelves that will let you click through them. You can click the door from farther away than you think. Windows are the easier of the two methods: you can use a wooden beam to sink a window backwards into the door frame, and have a simple custom door that blends more with the rest of your build. You can do that with all kinds of wall-mounted items too.
@@galatunia Hi! thx for the tip. I will check the videos. Do you have more floor planing videos? I want our FC house to be more of a hang out place so things like kitchens and bedrooms would not be needed. I tent to not have to much patiance for to many glitches but floating some stuff when it is needed is fine. Just not overdoing sice it is such a pain :P
I love this house and really appreciate a video that shows you don't have to sacrifce the ground floor of a cottage/small house. I'm curious how you managed to get the wall parition so close and inline with the pillar at the bottom of the stairs (next to the console table). It looks like you might have floated a half partition, but still have a wall partition underneath that lines up nicely with the pillar. I've tried to do this and can't get anywhere near as close or deep into the wall (or is it some sort of optical trick) Any tips would be appreciated (or if you do comissions to do houses? :D)
Hello Bull! :D So the pillars you're seeing by the stairs are actually ones bought from the NPC housing vendor. There's two by the wall with the console table and stained glass window, and then the one by the stairs. The one by the stairs was PAIN to place because to get it there I had to use a storage placement glitch. Same with the partition next to it to close off the stairs and separate it from the bedroom. Stairs are really finicky to place stuff around. There's 2 ways to approach putting stuff as close as possible: You can use the storage placement glitch, which you place something directly from storage and let the game's engine shove things close to walls. Or: You can actually get under your stairs to place things closer that way. Both glitches involve understanding the hitboxes items have, and there's tutorials out there :D I know HGXIV has tutorials for getting under your stairs! As for commissions: I don't take commissions at this time, but I'm thrilled you loved my design enough to ask. So thank you for that
@@galatuniaaw thank you for replying and the tips. It’s such a shame we have to resort to so many glitches and tricks. I really wanted to make a raised open space bedroom using lofts but by the time I got the hang of the floating glitch then felt the space I had under the lofts was awkward to fill. Needed like a half height partition. I’ll keep messing about and try again with some of the tricks I picked up here like using the skylights. Did find that a super helpful tip ❤
I am really proud of what I have done in my large house. The only thing I needed to wall off was the half of the upper floor, while the rest is accessible ❤
When my sister moved from a small house to a large one, there was no redoing her decor on a larger scall, there were not enough item slots to cover even one floor as densely as the small one was. She went for another concept entirely. 70% of the basement was sealed off for months, but in the end she managed to make it all works. Only 3 items left for seasonals though. xD
I finished renovation of my first floor S today (relatively new house owner) and got this recc. I also have both of my floors open and been struggling with making the house have that finese that more themed houses do. I think i got close to it, but now i have this jarring gap in the middle that's begging for a partition to hide it. But half of my problems would be solved if they just let us choose how the walls look like. I hate the cold stony wall bottoms in empy houses as it clashes with my vision of a cozy comforting modern house and i had to dump 20+ slots using blank riviera with wallpapers just to work around it. Do you have any advice related to this?
I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with that. If you're not a fan of the stone then you're already doing the most item slot effective replacement, which I admit that sucks. I will, however, gently suggest that if you like the default walls and it's just the stonework that's bothering you, that you *can* make stone look warmer and cozy. Think of stone fireplaces (or look them up on google/pinterest/instagram). Stone is cold, but a well dressed fireplace makes us feel warm and cozy, right? How do we achieve that? By using warm colors around it, plants, lamps, and art to make it feel more inviting. Sometimes it's hard to judge how a wall will make us feel until we see the room 'dressed' around it. So if you haven't already, I'd recommend taking some furniture pieces you were thinking of using (or if you don't know, grab some cheap stuff from a housing npc vendor. Easiest one is in your district's apartment lobby) and make a mock up by setting them down. I imagine the stone's sticking out a lot right now because there's not much else around it.
@@galatunia thanks for the response! I actually managed to hide all the stones haha. I am using stuff like kitchen counters and bookshelves on the ground to minimize the visibility. It's just the sheer count that annoys me as those 20 slots could go into more accessories or lightings. I do have a fireplace in my basement bedroom area but that part mandatorily needs the partitions as it's creating a wall between the staircase and the room. As for plants, not gonna lie I am not a huge fan haha xD I never really had a sense for them or able to use them effectively. I think that might be an interesting video topic to look at for sure 🤔
That looks amazing. Wish my house could be more detailed. I have a large house and I want to use every floor and room of it, I like big open area. You see there's some problem.... a large house is like maybe 8 times larger than a small house but it only has 2 times the slots (400). I tried my best to put the details in, I still need a lot more but, welp all 400 is up. Granted my house was designed in maybe 4.0 where we haven't have much big furniture choice and I'm too lazy to redecorate it.... Oh and most of my house is no glitch too, since I don't know how to do it that time and I find it too tedious to perform the glitch after I know it (running vanilla client here), so it's looks a bit bare...
this is why i dont do modern designs in XIV housing. XD it eats a lot of slots. also just to say, its better to practice in an apartment / fc room first then eventually move to bigger builds. you'd understand the importance of slots. very nice video btw :3
My main issue is the gil requierement for housing decoration...it simply is too expensive or time consumming for crafting...so i use random junk i get from quest, retainers instead
Thanks for the great video! I recently decided to finish decorating my FC's medium house and have been struggling with inspiration for the first and half of the second floor. I'm not really familiar with glitching and stuff and sadly my pc doesn't seem to handle very well Makeplace (the CPU goes overboard very quickly), but your tips about planning and using the space have renewed my motivation :) Where did you get the floor plans you showed up in your video? I think having access to those could help me better visualize what I want to do :)
Thanks for watching! I'm glad I could help :D I've got a direct link to the reddit post with the blank floorplans in the description of the video. Trust me: you don't have to glitch to make a pretty home. Make a home that's comfortable for you and your FC. That's more important than following glitch metas and stuff.
@@galatunia Thanks! I did my FC room without glitching and I love it, it feels packed with books and cozy at the same time ^^ for the house itself I didn't had trouble doing the garden, a bath/sauna plus meeting room in the basement and a dnd table on half the top floor, but I ran out of ideas for the rest XD just gotta figure out what "theme" or "room" I want in the remaining spots :P
Oh thank gosh, all the medium builds I've ever seen block off 80% of the house. Downside, that feeling when you want a very fantasy enchanted forest vibe for youe house...
Mediums can be tricky but still doable! I've done builds that use all three floors in mediums. Like with this small if you're willing to shave just a little bit of space in certain areas it adds up quickly! No need to cut off entire floors if you don't want to.
@@galatunia that's my goal! I'm currently trying to figure out what to do with my ground floor, my basement needs a bit of touching up and my top floor's a wreck because I started tearing it apart. I think my biggest problem is I have a vague idea of what I want and no real idea of how to make it happen
Could you provide a list of houses you have made? I like visiting in person. Smalls are the best. I've never wanted to leave mine despite having many opportunities to do so over the years.
Sure! Thanks for wanting to visit :D Here's what's publicly available for now at the time of this comment: - The small featured in this video: Crystal DC, Mateus: Empyreum ward 10, plot 59 - A medium: Crystal DC, Mateus: Empyreum ward 9, plot 2 - Fox Den (Large): Crystal DC, Zalera: Goblet Ward 24, plot 43.
Stupid thing on the side; Its incredibly hard to do without black magic (but possible nonetheless) but if you manage to glitch two aquariums inside each other, not only can you use 2 trimmings, you can also put more fish in there (and of different size types or even different water types) than it would normally allow. No longer will the shark be lonely!
A great question! There's items in the game that will still let you click through them. Like bookshelves and certain types of windows. I believe HGXIV has a list of what you can do and still be clickable.
Hello, great video. I want to design my home so bad, but I'm such a novice in the area of ffxiv housing. I would love to know if you could make a nice house without glitches? On console, it's difficult more so to do glitches than on PC. :(
Hello! :D Actually a no-glitch build is on my to-do list. I've got a couple more builds to finish filming before I get to it, but I promise it's in the works! And I hear you: I actually play with a controller on my PC so I do get that some stuff about building is a lot harder on controller than it needs to be.
as someone with a small fc house specifically, all of the doors are so nightmarish to work around 😭 sure i managed it anyway but gosh is it frustrating
I just finished decorating my FC Large and I'm so glad I despise the "modern" aesthetic because it would have been IMPOSSIBLE with only 400 slots. I got a decent amount of clutter to make it feel lived in, but sometimes it really just doesn't feel like enough. I wish certain small items didn't count towards the housing item limits. Let me put plushies everywhere, Square!
I'll add a "understanding medium houses" to my list of video topics. Trust me: I get it. When I first 'graduated' from a small I was lost too. Try your best with one area or even a corner of a space at a time. Break it down into smaller chunks.
Yes nothing aggravates me more than seeing a video of someone's large house and all they've essentially used is the ground floor. (And not even all of that.) Everything else is blocked off. I know they want high item density or things are glitched through walls, but it still annoys me that they are 'wasting' a large house. I used the whole floor of my medium house. Feel free to check it out and see how bad I am! 😆 Crystal/Zalera Ishgard Ward 28 Plot 38
Thank you! And I'm so sorry I just now saw this. Lots of practice and lots of patience. And a loooot of breaks in between sessions. The float-anything glitch can be murder on your hands.
😂Mission impossible. I used like 30 slots for the entrance/front door, 20 for a lowered ceiling, etc. i think i had 18 slots left for my basement when i finished the ground floor😭
LOL Been there, know the feeling. I love to throw everything and the kitchen sink at a build so when a friend wants access to all the floors it's a great exercise.
A trend I see a lot in designer modern houses is what I like to call "Tiny Homes" and "Screenshot Builds". Sure, they look nice in screenshots with heavy graphics shaders, but when you visit in-game its a cramped, dreary disappointment. When I design, I tend to focus on high-ceilings that compliment the 3rd-person camera perspective of FFXIV gameplay, plus using lighting/colors based on what looks good in "vanilla" (no shader) game settings. Ultimate goal for me is it looks great walking thru with a Playstation, and any shaders or screenshot angles should subtly enhance the base experience rather than misrepresent the in-game build.
I get ya, and I think those are important goals to have since we do share the game with console players. Heck not even just console players. I've changed how I tackle faux ceilings after a friend who plays one of the tall races told me how uncomfortable a lot of builds are for their camera.
If you wanna build with a lot detail in a small house you pretty much have no choice but to cut off the downstairs floor. Specially if you do it with plugins.
I'm a freelance furnisher in FF14 (on hiatus right now though, not taking work) and have a few set rules when I furnish homes. No more hyper-modern, sleek and angled homes. I used to do it but I dislike the theme and it always becomes a massive hassle. I will try as much as I can to work WITH the natural fittings, not against them. I will not close off entire floors. I will not make fake ceilings, only raised floors. (because no item has camera collision from below, it'll just slip through) and I start with the basic framing and big ticket/essential items, leaving the small details for a 'we'll see how many slots you have left by the end'. I always aim to have slots left over so the owner can put little finishing touches in and make it 'theirs'. I will offer every shortcut alternative that uses less slots whenever possible, but leave it to the owner of the building to decide whether it's worth it. And importantly: "The customer is always right in matters of taste." Whenever they voice anything to me in terms of doubts or want my opinion, I always answer "This is going to be your home. You are going to look at it repeatedly after I'm done. In the end it must be what YOU want. I can only give tips but you have to accept or reject them. And if something bothers you, tell me immediately so I can fix it." People always seem to like what I make for them quite a lot. Although I hope someday they allow us custom interior presets. I'd personally love an indoor layout with framing that actually matches the exterior fittings I use. Let people ask for no pillars or wall framing in exchange for dyeable flat walls that simply cannot hold wallpapers. (to save them from having to re-code the wallpapers to fit) Different housing wards' interior framing as option? Or let people choose to simply not have a basement and/or not have a second floor, or have it be like a tower layout where instead of down the small goes up, and instead of a top floor and basement, a medium/large just gets multiple smaller floors going up that equal the floorspace from before. (tied to a specific exterior set, perhaps?) And lastly: Pre-furnished setups. Let the lazy bums of the housing community pay for an item that uses up ALL the item slots which replaces the entire interior layout to a preset where nothing can be altered. (except maybe the overall colours with dyes)
Bought a small house, got intensely frustrated at the finnicky placement of items, took a break from the game and lost the house via demolishment. Think I'll stick to my appartment for now.
Console players can glitch :D/ There's tutorials on youtube specifically made for console controls. Even then, there's very little glitching in this build so you can get something similar.
idk if i'm just too autistic (actually), but i haaaaaaate windows in the basement and dont understand why everyone does it how are you getting natural light in the basement???????? it is literally all underground other than that, lovely build though
Hi! Person who owns this build here. We envisioned this build, in an RP sense, as more of a sequestered-off section of a larger building which is situated on a hill, so the lower floor is built into the side of the hill and natural light is coming from the exposed area. I hope this helps it make sense!
i personally have my house oob, the actual space inside just has a mood setting corridor leading you to a cushion elevator to jump on to glitch out to my actual house. I feel like this makes the camera work better AND gives me more freedom to decide the layout of loft areas and such. plus a house in a void is just fun for me.
my only fear is that every patch SE has a pretty significant chance to just wipe void builds out entirely. they did it before when they made beds no longer accessible through walls back in SB.
How in God's name did she build that wall/doorway at the bottom of the stairs? You can't place anything up against the wall there, it leaves huge awkward gaps...
Hello! I have a glitch guide that covers my process :D/ But the short answer is storage placement glitch and a lot of trial and error. Some house interiors are also easier to do this than others. Oasis houses you can forget it. But more 'minimal' stairs like Ishgardian and Shirogane stairs you can get very close if you're mindful of the partition's hit box.
@@galatunia I'll have to check that out, thanks! I'm trying to do a house for a friend and i'm dead set on having a nice entryway at the bottom of the stairs like that.
these are fine , but they look really sparse and basic. nothing wrong with that ofc, but there is a reason housing designers need to block off floors, you simply don't have enough housing slots to make complex designs

While using all the floors can mean things are spread out and some areas end up being a little sparse (hopefully to be fixed with the coming housing slot update) it does offer one benefit, and that's in photography.
HEEE thank YOU so much for letting me build it and use it for the video. This video wouldn't exist without you!
I've never thought (big 😉) about doing many of things you talk about in this vid... I actually learned a lot.
Have a subscription for being awesome!
*Keanu Reeves meme* No YOU'RE awesome! Seriously though, I"m glad I could help! :D
This is so helpful as someone who just bought a small house!!
Thank you so much! Glad I could help :D/ CONGRATS on the house too!
The bedroom and office is EVERYTHING! I love it!
Thank you!
That's very kind of you, thank you so much! I'm happy to help :D
@galatunia just being aware that the kitchen counter now exists will help free up a bunch of slots so that I can access my basement
Thank YOU for tuning in
i always use both floors in my small, and on both the main and basement have loft/sub floors so i can make a bedroom above a bathroom, and a retainer loft above my living room, and a dedicated kitchen area.
You make me want to get into housing! Thank you for exploring this side of the game in a way I enjoy consuming.
Thank you SO MUCH! I always suggest starting with an apartment :D/ Cheapest housing in the game that's usually still accessible, and a great way to see if you enjoy the housing system.
Thank you for sharing the link for the floorplans 😍. Great vid 🎉
No problem! They've been a total game changer for me.
Switched to Dynamis and looking for open plots rn. Found your video af an opportune time
Excuse me why are you a small channel. Girl you have A LOT of knowledge. Good thing you've been blessed by the algorithm this time
AHHHH that's so sweet of you, thank you so much
I love this house! Can you please make a guide on how you made it🙏🏼 I would love to make it for my small cottage👉🏼👈🏼
Loving the helpful content, much love❤
Nah I agree. I LOVE both methods of building and it's kinda weird how angry people get about it.
Subscribed! Thank you for the video! Excited for a house after I transfer servers. 😁
God i love the design of this house ❤
❤Very informative and super helpful, you earned my sub!❤
I agree with this entire Video! I have a small on Hyperion in Shirogane Ward 20 Plot 50 and I use every possible space and have a Bedroom, Bathroom, Library, Kitchen, Dining Room along with 2 lounge areas. Even with a small the possibilities are endless!
Smalls deserve more love! I'll have to visit your place when I get some time to do so.
THANK YOU!
Instant follow, we're looking into getting FC house for our tiny fc and I've been stressing how to decorate it once we get it (as I'm current lead and the most artistic of the group when it comes to visuals), this vid actually gave some good advice!
Been wanting a house foerver this may have put me over the edge. im on the hunt o7
Good luck! I wish you a winning ticket!
It’s so dumb that we even have to worry about this. They need to just put in more furniture slots already wtf, and make a system that would just let you float stuff horizontally without having to glitch🫠 seriously why the heck not??
8:30 "Something more futuristic"
Yup, that's actually my FC house.
I absolutely love what Sally did for you guys and it's why I picked it as my example! I'll have to make some time to come visit!
As someone designing a modern house, I need the capacity increase yesterday. I wish the devs would be a little more specific as to when it's coming...
RIGHT? Oh my gosh I know they have the rest of the game to work on too but the wait's killing me. Good luck with your design!
I have a medium house and I used all 3 floors, the only thing is you can't have an overly fancy build that's all. You did a really good job on the both floors, I like it.
Congrats on your medium! And you're right, you have to be selective where you put details.
As someone that wants to use EVERY square ilm in my own place, I'm taking notes.
Wow I have been looking for videos like these. Talking floor planing. Simple. Pros and cons. We own a FC small house. How would you work around the FC member rooms door on the first floor? Any ways to make it look like a custom door?
Hello Andreas! Thanks for tuning in, and yes, there absolutely is :D In my housing glitches video I showcase a small house that keeps the FC door accessible while looking custom, but if you don't have time to watch here's the general TL;DR:
The best way to make your FC door look custom, but still useable, is to make use of things like windows or even bookshelves that will let you click through them.
There's 2 ways to approach putting stuff as close as possible:
You can use the storage placement glitch, which you place something directly from storage and let the game's engine shove things close to walls. Or:
You can actually get under your stairs to place things closer that way.
That's FANTASTIC since large's are really hard to do that with. You should be proud!
Thank you very much! And I couldn't agree more. Always get an apartment or FC room first and play around with it.
How you feel about the Small stairwell door, is how I feel about the Medium stair placement forcing every design to be a T or L shape.
Could you provide a list of houses you have made? I like visiting in person. Smalls are the best. I've never wanted to leave mine despite having many opportunities to do so over the years.
Sure! Thanks for wanting to visit :D Here's what's publicly available for now at the time of this comment:
- The small featured in this video: Crystal DC, Mateus: Empyreum ward 10, plot 59
- A medium: Crystal DC, Mateus: Empyreum ward 9, plot 2
- Fox Den (Large): Crystal DC, Zalera: Goblet Ward 24, plot 43.
@@galatunia Thanks! Designers tear their builds down so fast these days to make something new, I'm glad there are a few still up!
But how exactly do you design a custom entrance for a small house that actually lets you exit? 🤔
@@galatunia Thanks for replying, I do appreciate it. I'd really love to see the no glitch build!!
as someone with a small fc house specifically, all of the doors are so nightmarish to work around 😭 sure i managed it anyway but gosh is it frustrating
Congrats on finishing your large design! :D And ABSOLUTE MOOD! I wish partitions didn't count towards item slots but what can ya do?
I kinda miss my small house. I never had problems decorating my small house. Now I switched to a Medium and Im so extremly lost.....
How do you glitch your stuff? It looked so effortless :o
Thank you! And I'm so sorry I just now saw this. Lots of practice and lots of patience. And a loooot of breaks in between sessions. The float-anything glitch can be murder on your hands.
Empyreum crew \o/
"Every item adds up." So fucking true! Especially If you want to put down ALL DA PLUSHIES like me T°T
I love housing but I just don’t have patience for glitching outside of windows lol
And if something bothers you, tell me immediately so I can fix it."
People always seem to like what I make for them quite a lot.
Although I hope someday they allow us custom interior presets. I'd personally love an indoor layout with framing that actually matches the exterior fittings I use.
Let people ask for no pillars or wall framing in exchange for dyeable flat walls that simply cannot hold wallpapers. (to save them from having to re-code the wallpapers to fit)
Different housing wards' interior framing as option?
Or let people choose to simply not have a basement and/or not have a second floor, or have it be like a tower layout where instead of down the small goes up, and instead of a top floor and basement, a medium/large just gets multiple smaller floors going up that equal the floorspace from before. (tied to a specific exterior set, perhaps?)
And lastly: Pre-furnished setups. Let the lazy bums of the housing community pay for an item that uses up ALL the item slots which replaces the entire interior layout to a preset where nothing can be altered. (except maybe the overall colours with dyes)
the indoor pond has camera collision, it’s what’s used to when you make fake ceilings
Bought a small house, got intensely frustrated at the finnicky placement of items, took a break from the game and lost the house via demolishment.
Think I'll stick to my appartment for now.
Instant fan. Kindred spirit. Legit will edit my discord bot to auto post your vids. Decent sized discord, so hope it gives you a few follows
Oh my goodness, that's super kind of you! Thank you very much Abney
Sooo not viable for me since it requires glitching? (Console player)
Console players can glitch :D/ There's tutorials on youtube specifically made for console controls. Even then, there's very little glitching in this build so you can get something similar.
I'm a console playing who has done a couple housing builds. Trust me even without glitching you can do alot.
FFXIV should simply have a system like ESO. Move things anywhere we want. No need to "glitch" things in place.
Man oh man I wish. I'd give anything just to have sliders or something.
finally! someone that uses the whole plot! Honestly, it's tiring to see a meduim or a large becoming one tiny room
idk if i'm just too autistic (actually), but i haaaaaaate windows in the basement and dont understand why everyone does it
how are you getting natural light in the basement???????? it is literally all underground
other than that, lovely build though
I just want lala scale furniture that doesn’t use all my item slots up
Useful to me, but first, I need to be able to afford a house or apartment. I have no idea how to make enough gil to afford such things.
I hear you. We really do need more housing slots.
Yeah but I'd rather have a 10/10 house that uses one floor than a 6/10 house with two floors.
