The way the bandits bring down mammoths: there is a pit trap at the far end of the slaughter room. I know cause I fell in :)
Can confirm, very hazardous. >.>
@@IamCoalfoot still freaking hazardous if you walk into the pit the damn spikes damage you if you touch them at all.
@Spencer ReesMaybe they have a mechanism to retract the spikes into the ground? We've seen much more advanced mechanics in Skyrim !
@@pbs1516 Fun fact you can disenchant the poachers axe.
Danni Seliger Aw :)
Note about Windshear: Sometimes it clips through the boat and you have to go swimming to find it, so if you want it and it's not where it's supposed to be, jump in the water and look directly under where it was.
Ok thank you I was literally about to ask about it I'm at the part of the boat it says it's at on the video and I don't see it but thank you for telling me and everyone else where it's at

"Windshear has a 100% chance to stagger!"
Spoken over footage of Windshear's attacks not staggering opponents.
You can’t stagger an opponent that’s already in the staggering animation, and that’s what’s happening there
You need to bash with it, normal attacks wont stagger but it you attack while blocking with windshear you will stumble opponents every bash attack. If you get good with it you can destroy stuff on legendary without taking any dmg. Its one of the most op weapons in skyrim.
HamTheBacon it’s normal attacks do stagger, bashing just paralyses the enemy
Still instant stagger haha perfect for bosses

"He's an essential NPC" Yeah that sounds about right. The guy isn't even involved in a single quest, you never need to meet him, but he's essential. The essential designation should be used sparingly. bethesda just slaps it all over the place
I go on little "save and slaughter the town" sprees just to see what pointless and "no quest involved" npc's are essential. Hell, even one's you think would lose the essential tag are still essential even after the quest.
I've noticed that some imperial camp officers are essential...makes me think that there was more to the civil war campaign then what we got
@@HighFalutinTootin all camp officers are essential

damn, this makes me wanna play skyrim for the 1000th time
I'm waiting for the PS5 release 🤣
Ok but for I will 100% be doing this tomorrow
You don't know how the Halted Stream Bandits are killing mammoths? Did you miss their giant spike hole?
My question is, if they get them in the pit and process them in the mine, then do they bring them through the mine doors out into the front of the camp?
I feel so stupid for never realizing that. I also never realized what the poachers axe was.
@Spencer Rees pull...with...?
Where's the winch? The rope?
The dozen people?
The stuff needed to reduce friction between the corridor to the pit and the middle of the room in the mine?
Listening in on the bandits in their camp, the poacher's ax isn't used to KILL the beast, it just makes butchering them easier. At least I can disenchant the thing for my hunting bow...or just keep my fire/shock combo and precook everything.
That's been my thought with some of the weaker named weapons. The enchantment tends to be rather unique, like the Gloves of the Pugilist. You can disenchant them and apply that enchantment to a better item. But that choice doesn't apply to all unique weapons, esp those named above, like Windshear.

The headsmens axe has a super high chance of decapitation too
It’s listed on it’s wiki page stats
Sure -- assuming you're lowering it on someone who is bound, forced down on their knees, and has their head on a chopping block. Even then, you'd better hope Eorlund Gray-Mane sharpened it.
@@gypsyassassin2004 sadly not even he could sharpen it due to it not be able to get improved on grindstones
I believe the Poachers axe only spawns in the inventory of the orc bandit that is near the mammoth, since he has unique dialogue in reference to the axe
That's my experience to.
Yep, found it on him specifically at least 20+ times, and if you come back there (I always make that my stop later in the game when it's time to do Herma Mora's daedric quest, since good chance that Orsimer, Bosmer and Dunmer will all spawn there, and there's an Altmer in the pit, leaving just a Falmer for the full set) then the axe won't have respawned with the bandits, leading me to think it's a unique bandit that just happens to be still named Bandit.
i once found it on the table outside with no bandit near it
dan pamfiloiu same here
@@matthewvonreighner5762 That's just a regular woodcutter's axe though, there's always one there, but without the name or enchantment.
A few issues:
-You suggest improving the Headsman's Axe at a grindstone to boost its damage. This axe *cannot* be improved in the base game, much like the Ebony Blade, though it can be enchanted.
-You mention that Windshear trivializes the Ebony Warrior, while he's actually one of the few enemies that can hold his own against it. Indeed he has the Tower of Strength and Reflect Blows perks, which allow him to resist stagger and occasionally reflect it onto you.
Ooooo, kill em

I know its not the most well hidden weapon, but my favorite is the axe of fiery souls; pretty much because you can disenchant it and add soul trap and fiery damage to more potent weapons. Maxing out your enchantment skill and being able to add a second enchantment makes it work better; my current weapon burns, freezes and captures souls at the same time.
Damn I'm late. Most of you don't know because only Nazeem can wield it. But the blade of the Cloud District that has 99999999 Damage is the most unique weapon in the game.
Do you get to the cloud district very often? Oh what am I saying. Of course you don't.
Don't you have a wife that needs care?

Any bow + sneak key = the inevitable sneaky bow build.
The dangerous infinite loop of sneaky bow build
Dread it
Run from it
Sneak archery is inevitable
I always go warrior no matter how hard Itry not too.
One character, all the buildings. What story? I go in, kill and loot caves. Inevitable Smithy build to make weapons and armour better
There is a far easier way to get the Glass Bow of the Stag Prince: Reverse pickpocket any kind of Dagger (iron is my preference) then smack him with a shield or bow bash, sheath your weapon to de-aggro him (use a calm spell if necessary) and the bow will be for sale. Edit: And though it doesn't work toward the achievement, It is technically a Daedric artifact, that's why it's such a good weapon.
Ive done that Hail Sithis, twice. Not once did I ever figure to go and check out the bow of the ship. Thats a really neat find.
"Unless you're trying to re-enact a scene from titanic" wow I feel called out
"I'm the Jarl of the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Once I found out about the weapon improvement glitch, I improved the headsmans axe until it was a guaranteed kill move or instant death, also threw a soul trap enchantment, I never used it unless I hated an enemy. Very satisfying to have on the hotbar
Or enchant a robe or armor with (restoration loop boosted) fortify smithing, then upgrade whatever weapon you want into a one-hit kill stick of doom
Even a wooden sword
@@keifujitora6587 you cant smith improve the headsman, but you can still enchant it like OP alluded to.
Quick fact about Windshear-The knockdown effect work on even giants, and the stagger affects dragons as well.
I always enjoyed the Blodskal Blade myself, was a great find for my Battle-mage build
For the Glass Bow of the Stag Prince, you can also pickpocket a different weapon onto the guy then have him attack you, get close and he'll equip the new weapon, then sheathe your weapon and you can buy the Glass Bow then, if you don't want it to say STOLEN lol

The poachers axe has such low DMG because it's not used for killing. It's used to remove the tusks from the mammoths after they're dead already. Also explains why you're more likely to find it on a bandit inside

@@mindyauron9137 Oh, yes. But I think he got 100 sneak when he pickpocket the guy with the bow in the video.
The Poachers Axe is intentionally bad from what I can tell, upon entering the camp and entering the general area of the bandits unnoticed, the bandits without the axe will say something along the lines of needing to sharpen the axe, which is also why the other will be at a grindstone actively sharpening it. So the low damage is due to it being dull
The Windshear is a must have for me, I use it in everyplay through, whether it be till im a certain level or until I get a new weapon I think is better. Gotta love being able to kill a giant with only a few swips 😊

Love using the headman's axe lobbing heads and going "i axe-identally got out of hand again"
Oh so sorry, I got axe-cited
Laugh my Axe off
I made the headsman's axe count as both Battleaxe and Greatsword in "Better Vanilla Perks". So you benefit from additional perks while having a low base damage
The way the Poachers at Halted Stream Camp brought down the mammoths is kind of self explanatory if you think a bit longer about it. Behind the back of the dead mammoth in the main room in the cave there's another path, that leads into skyrim, but really just leads to a pit filled with wood spikes in it. In the pit we find some travelers and Elk and things of the kind. So basically, the bandits would lure the mammoths into the pit, the mammoth would die, and then they would take it into the cave, to strip the carcass of the flesh, bones, tusks etc.
Nate, going with the theme of your first slot, I would love to see a "top 5 things you can only do at night"! Thanks for the constant entertaining content.
Please make part two and include the Longhammer. It also had a long reach so I want the numbers so I can compare it to the headman's axe

“Curved sword.... a curved. Sword.” Noice reference to that random guard
I like the poachers axe on the fact that it plays into my roleplay of my character. Typically I'll progress quite a ways into the game. Get "fatigued" with adventuring and decide to settle down, build a home, do some hunting & general manual labor for income. It's a nice mid-game change of pace I like to do sometimes.
I built my own bards college (Lakeview) then my own wizard college (Windstand) then my own warriors mead hall! (The third property).
Wow, Nate. Some more new stuff for me to check out. Can't wait...starting game. lol
I love your videos so much! I've been subscribed for awhile and have showed up to my friends and wanted to finally say it. 👌 keep up the good work ❤️
to resolve the mystery of the mammoth killed by weak people, it's very simple: if you advance a little more in the caverne, you find another entrance to it that is a hole with spikes... A trap then. So the mammoth fall in the spikes, hurt itself by the fall, and get killed when defendless... so simple than that :)
With the halter stream camp:
The way they killed mammoths (I think) is by luring them into the spike pit outside it (I don’t know how they got there huge body’s out of the small tunnel and into the butchering area) since you can see some mammoth bones here
Maybe de-boning them?
Glass bow: there is another much easier way, get something in mele range, he should then (after a bit of struggling) swap to a melee weapon, this unequipes the bow allowing you to either pickpocket or buy it.
You can also attack him yourself forcing him into melee combat, leave and return when he is nolonger angry (or use a spell/scroll like calm or harmony)
Also, disarm shout.
Disarm shout is best and easiest way.
Big variety of weapons?
*cries in dunmeri*
I actually found Windshear on my second run while trying to avoid swimming so far to land xD
I just want to point out that the Poacher's axe is most likely not used on live animals. It's likely a world building tool rather than weapon, implying that's what they have been using to chop up dead mammoths.
Also, if the Stag Prince's bow grants you 5 points per 20 animal kills up to 100, wouldn't that make 25 points rather than 20?
This is a fun episode. I still haven't played Skyrim in several years.
~ thank god first this vid!! im gonna go get me some bad ass weapons😃 earned urself a new subscriber!! 👏🏾
Nice OP list here.
But the Headsman's Axe can only be improved at a grindstone with the Unofficial Patch installed. In vanilla Skyrim it can only be enchanted.
That sucks! I guess they decided it would be too OP if you could improve it.
@@canadianbeef1958 I don't know actually. I always thought it was an overside.
But now I think of it, look at the reanch of that thing! Combine it with the speed improvement rings from the Anniversary Edition, be a high elf who is the tallest, thus the fastest, be under the influence of Slow Time under the influence of Necromage godmode while being on horseback and you'll be literarily untouchable.
Maybe that's why it's not upgradable.
Hahah good old poacher's axe, that was the very first bandit camp I ever did and kept that axe in my inventory for most of the game for woodcutting :)
many miss Bloodthorn steel dagger if the target dies within three seconds, it fills a soul gem It also has an absorb health enchantment that is not shown in the in-game description. Can be found on an altar on the balcony of Hag's End.

Is no one going to mention how absolutely stunning his game looks...? What graphic/ENB mod is this??
That's NOT the only way to get that bow, Nate.
You can also walk up to the guy, drop any weapon better than an iron dagger on the ground, then punch him one time with your fist.
He will pick up the weapon and equip it, then sheathe it when you lower your fist after punching him. Now, you can buy the bow.
Alternatively, you can reverse pickpocket the weapon you drop onto him instead. This eliminates any chance for him not to pick it up, if for some reason he doesn't detect it on the ground. Otherwise, the same process.
This avoids having to grind Pickpocket altogether, and is the easiest way to obtain the Glass Bow of the Stag Prince.
