Odd example but Rochelle in the first 10 seconds of the passing has 60 different lines of dialogue. And almost all of them are removed in 8v8 Thank you for the comment.
Some theories for the 'Midnight Rider Carrier theory': Since the military and government was in division and confusion, some may suggest that the carriers fight against the the infected or atleast run for supplies, yes it may have been rejected by others in the comics but just remember thst the military is divided due to pressure, some outposts must've allowed the idea as a last resort and let carriers like the Midnight band to fight and aid the outpost. Going onto the passing, we can see an abundancy of resources and weapons left by survivors and military alike, which also explains why the fallen survivors are so common in the campaign. So it could be possible that the Midnight Riders were tasked to extract info and gather as much supplies as needed.
Never even realized that last point about the passing. Different military groups having differing views and uses of carriers is some of the most interesting shit in this universe. I've seen people in the comments throw around the ideas of military groups entirely made up of carriers, as opposed to isolating and executing them. So much untapped potential.
and what if there are military leaders that are actually carriers too? would love to see left 4 dead 3 turn out to be about the humanity fighting back against the infection and rebuilding society bit by bit.
Tbf, if the riders are really as big as the game makes them out to be, that a whole lot of people know about them, I think them choppering out is actually them choppering out and not getting capped by the military for being carriers. It'd be like comparing your average person getting moved to the front of the line with someone like Taylor Swift getting moved. I think the midnight riders probably are carriers, and we're helicoptered out to be executed. Because, just think of it. If you execute beloved celebrities in front of their fans, that'd be chaos. So they were probably trying to take them to a more secure location to kill them. Not only because it's dangerous to have carriers around all those people, but because if they did kill them their fans would cause a riot. However it seems that the midnight riders actually got away since you see their tour bus driving away in the passing.
The Passing is before Dark Carnival, so more than likely, the bus we see is going to Whispering Oaks, and more than likely they were executed or died... Or if your feeling optimistic, they could've gotten out...
It’s even possible that the tour bus that we are are an entirely new crew of carriers/survivors that we never see, heading out some place. Kinda like how the two crews we see tend to use vehicles during the finale that aren’t theirs

I'd love to see you discuss the Civil Emergency Defense Agency (CEDA) series sometime. It's a Left 4 Dead analog horror series on UA-cam that details the fall of CEDA as well as continuing the story after The Parish. I barely see anyone in the L4D fandom talk about it and it's such a shame.
I've always loved the wallgraffiti of everyone praising the Midnight Riders basically for dying like everyone else, and how good the band is and stuff, then they find out that they are alive and the graffiti'ers turn on them immediately haha
Also if you’re lucky in the finale of the campaign you might receive a rare voiceline of Nick genuinely trying to know his teammates by asking Ellis or Coach if the Midnight Riders are “any good?”

I actually heard Elise say happy new years, days before 2016 New Year. Later on, Merry Christmas. It was a new dialog because I had never heard it before, and I've been playing L4d almost every single day when it first came out on xbox. I even played the PC demo before it was released to console.
I will always remember playing this campaign in middle school with my friend trying to do the gnome thing. We eventually got to the end, and that man tempted fate time and time again tossing the gmome into a zombie spawn barrier and catching it before the gnome would go beyond his reach until It happened. He lost the gnome Right at the end of the campaign
My best guess for the mystery of the Midnight Riders- If they were carriers, they likely weren’t executed on the spot because there were people around in some capacity. It can go either way on this one, but I’m guessing either people were around to see them get into a helicopter OR it’s a lie that somebody there wrote on the wall. Assuming they were flown away in a helicopter- somebody saw them in the process. Possibly multiple people. If this group was a lot of people’s favorite band, it would cause absolute chaos to see them get gunned down by the military on the spot while they clearly aren’t infected. The military wouldn’t want to kill off Metallica in front of a bunch of fans, right? So, that could be a good reason to fly them away first.
I remember reading online back in the day that fans were hoping the midnight riders would be dlc due to some info released or leaked from valve during L4D2 high point.
The part about the riders getting choppered out, I'm wondering if the military did that because the riders seem to be pretty well known. And therefore if people knew they were executed, no survivor would willingly place trust or go to CEDA/the Military. Because from what I can tell, opinion on the military's actions seem pretty divided by the grafetti survivors even during the Parish. Executing the Riders (At least publicly or letting their executions be known) would more than likely shift most survivors views of the military's actions from them being 'a necessary evil' as some of them would probably think to the military being out for themselves and completely morally bankrupt.
not too sure where I've heard this but apparently the reason there even were people at there was because they (forgot who prob the ceda) put up the concert to try and calm the civilians down, (keep in mind they didn't know the infected were attracted to sound) with our favorite band, the midnight riders. hence why they needed to be evacuated, making the writings in the wall much more sense
Something that i like to point out is that the Midnight Riders probably did escape, so they took their Tour Bus instead of the helicopter so probably the helicopter was only there to bring carriers We really dont know what happened to them, but atleast we do know they escaped the concert on their bus and are driving a fairly long distance.
Thats awesome that ellis & coach would start singing on stage. Did not know you could spam voice lines tho. Maybe accessing voice lines was a PC only thing?
One thing I do love is how it’s revealed that the Midnight Riders fake playing live, considering the fact that they have the songs pre-recorded. It’s just a funny detail and makes out this legendary rock band to be much more lame than they actually are, or even that they fell off considering coach says “I have ALL their albums, even their new stuff that ain’t no good”.
1:42 ~ I think its likely those bodies were zombies. The bodies are in separate piles. This might be the result of the soldiers reloading between each volley. And as each volley the zombies got closer. Eventually ending up right infront of the car where the soldiers were overrun or retreated. (normal people wouldn't charge into oncoming bullets) In addition, the bodies are piled quite narrowly. If they were normal humans, it wouldn't just be a pile of bodies in the center of the road. (more likely wide spread across the road) Another reason is the blood trails. The zombies were hit but continued running forward. (now, I would understand adrenaline or shock keeping them going but the previous reasons would point otherwise). Edit: But as mentioned. It wouldn't be far off to say the soldiers did shoot at people.
My friends and I played Dark Carnival VS so much to the point that the three of us could get a perfect round as Survivors and shit stomp anyone as Infected. I miss those days...
Fun fact about that cut monorail section, it was reimplement by a custom map called Dark Carnival: Remix and they made use of those cut voicelines to direct the player on what to do. For the hippy part I am unaware and I think the helicopter ending is the only ending in DC:R.

I recently bought l4d2 on steam because i finally got a gaming laptop and it was the first game i bought
I have such fond memories of playing it on the 360 a decade ago and the moment i started playing and saw the intro for dead centre it was the best feeling of childlike giddiness
This game is despite its age one of the best ever made and ots amazing to see such a large playerbase still devoted to it
I'd love to see you discuss the Civil Emergency Defense Agency (CEDA) series sometime. It's a Left 4 Dead analog horror series on UA-cam that details the fall of CEDA as well as continuing the story after The Parish. I barely see anyone in the L4D fandom talk about it and it's such a shame.
Literally didnt even know about it until you told me.
That's something worth watching, might make a video on it.
that's an idea for sure
I've always loved the wallgraffiti of everyone praising the Midnight Riders basically for dying like everyone else, and how good the band is and stuff, then they find out that they are alive and the graffiti'ers turn on them immediately haha
I still pray for a custom campaign where you play as the midnight riders, that would be so worth it
i love how at 2:53 it says on the left side of the screen "Rochelle protected Big Dick Bill"
💀💀💀
Also if you’re lucky in the finale of the campaign you might receive a rare voiceline of Nick genuinely trying to know his teammates by asking Ellis or Coach if the Midnight Riders are “any good?”
10:21 lmfaoooo i just got flashbacks to my previous plays with my friends. Some would be pinned down by a hunter while the chopper flies right by them!
Ellis really does make the best out of everything and i love him fir that
You forgot the quote when Nick say at the end “oh I’m going to regret this but raise the song whooo” at the end when they call the chopper
2009, i play for the skill, mechanic. Now i just come for the plot and story.
Cheers for the playlist.
Btw you got a good chance to catch ton shit of views if you’re gonna do long videos, got that vibe like Vaati, and voice is pretty cool.
Keep it like that fella.
Your very welcome
and I do plan on doing longer lore related videos once the campaigns are done. Thank you for the kind words :)
Man… I really want a katana sword of love.
Another kickass vid.
Reinstalled L4D2 not long ago thanks to these videos resparking my interest.
Happy Too and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
I was waiting for this video, I've really liked the series so far 🤑
Dark Carnival is my favorite campaign.
Rochelle has a unique but of dialogue when calling for everyone to get in the saferoom in this campaign she'll say "get in free hamhocks and Chitlins inside" ive noticed alot of dialogue is only spoken in versus mode sometimes cause i was using the morph mod (lets u turn into infected while in campaign mode and ive heard alot a lines ive nvr heard
I actually heard Elise say happy new years, days before 2016 New Year. Later on, Merry Christmas. It was a new dialog because I had never heard it before, and I've been playing L4d almost every single day when it first came out on xbox. I even played the PC demo before it was released to console.
Have you actually been playing the game for almost 20 years straight?
I will always remember playing this campaign in middle school with my friend trying to do the gnome thing. We eventually got to the end, and that man tempted fate time and time again tossing the gmome into a zombie spawn barrier and catching it before the gnome would go beyond his reach until
It happened.
He lost the gnome
Right at the end of the campaign
5:56 or hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
Did anyone ever asked themselves how the hell rochelle could hold on to Nick with only one arm while climbing up In the intro?
Looking forward to your takes on swamp fever and hard rain.
My best guess for the mystery of the Midnight Riders-
If they were carriers, they likely weren’t executed on the spot because there were people around in some capacity.
God Bless you and your family, brother!
4:57 & 9:42 Man I like how funny your words every single VS player is, how about making each of em too 😂😂
4:05 Take a shot everytime they say love.
Something that i like to point out is that the Midnight Riders probably did escape, so they took their Tour Bus instead of the helicopter so probably the helicopter was only there to bring carriers
We really dont know what happened to them, but atleast we do know they escaped the concert on their bus and are driving a fairly long distance.
A crime to forget to mention Coach's favorite ride as a little peanut.
5:00 The Good "fucking" Luck got me. 😂 But hey, I really love ellis' positivity on this one.
"Midnight Riders? I got ALL their albums. Even the new shit that ain't no good!" -Coach
Dark carnival is also where Jotaro saved gnome chompski for the achievement
42 is probably actually a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy reference
Zombie flying @4:55
Thats awesome that ellis & coach would start singing on stage. Did not know you could spam voice lines tho. Maybe accessing voice lines was a PC only thing?
I never knew about the microphone easter egg. I'm going to have to try that the next time I play.
My favorite campaign
Makes one wonder what the actual percentage of carriers is.
Im curious if thats the case about the midnight riders. They were seen in the passing as a rare easter egg.
1:53 Big Dick Bill is welcomed to our community xD
One thing I do love is how it’s revealed that the Midnight Riders fake playing live, considering the fact that they have the songs pre-recorded. It’s just a funny detail and makes out this legendary rock band to be much more lame than they actually are, or even that they fell off considering coach says “I have ALL their albums, even their new stuff that ain’t no good”.
In a zombie apocalypse, a dustbin of a band is still better than hearing PSAs all day.
1:42 ~ I think its likely those bodies were zombies.
The bodies are in separate piles. This might be the result of the soldiers reloading between each volley.
And as each volley the zombies got closer. Eventually ending up right infront of the car where the soldiers were overrun or retreated. (normal people wouldn't charge into oncoming bullets)
In addition, the bodies are piled quite narrowly. If they were normal humans, it wouldn't just be a pile of bodies in the center of the road. (more likely wide spread across the road)
Another reason is the blood trails.
Incendiary ammo of love is killing me😂
