Rusted Petrol Lamp - Restoration
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- I found this FireFly Petrole Lamp to flea market. This is an old Petrol Lamp made in France manufactured by Guillourd to Nantes.
This old Lamp was so rusted and i didn't want to buy it because i was thinking that there was nothing left to do to save it, but the seller made me a good offer for it and i didn't resist. Only 1 euro.
I spend so much time restoring this Beautiful Lamp but worth it, what do you think?
Luciole in france means FireFly

Thank you for watching my video! After you finish watching you should check this Yellowed Playstation PS1 here: 😎🥰 ua-cam.com/video/4HBr8NE17oc/v-deo.html
You even restored the sticker, how amazing is that?! Unbelievable with how much love you did take care of it. I really liked the two red parts, they gave a very nice contrast to the rest of the lamp. I love it :-)
please upload more videos bro
@@wangbu4425 i'm working on it :-)
at first, i mistaken both of the channels for the same guy :/
Hey what are you doing here? You got your own restorations to do! I guess you need a break after all that sanding and filing you did on that screw driver.
@@SLAUGHTYBAUDFAUST haha just chilling bro ;-) i need a break after the editing, new video is coming in a couple of hours.
Along with excellent projects and most defiantly all your hard work, what I love the most about your channel: no annoying background music(with repetitive lopes), no lengthy introduction, and or needless commentary, not much time waste and balanced time lapse. Almost perfect!. Thank you for sharing
Oil lamps are always cool.
You should get in a collab. 4 hands and a beard in the video.
@@davidvarnai7654 Genius!
Hand Tool Rescue I have two I love them
Hand Tool rescue! I started watching these kind of videos just because of you...I would appreciate it to see more of your work too.
I don’t know they seem pretty hot to me😋
Nice restoration. Looks like new.
To light it, you push the lever down to raise the glass and light the wick from the bottom of the glass where it is lifted. Tilting is for removing the glass and cleaning it.
I have watched a few of these lamps being restored and not many know how to light them :).
normally to light something i push a button 🤣🤣🤣😅
@@TysyTube A modern day man. lol. No buttons back in the 60's when we had them lamps. lol
@@ianallen2 What a beautiful time it was...
I'm only 46, so they are before my time, but I know how to light them 😊
In the 60's we had these lanterns because of the power cuts and also in the outside toilet to try and stop the pipes from freezing up. Very bad winters back then. lol.
Few people like ASMR or unboxing videos. I LOVE restoration videos. And I am really glad I came across yours! I always look forward to a new upload!
thank you so much 😊
I used to study under these lamps when I used to visit my granny's home when I was a kid. We used to take these lamps on the terrace and study under the lights of the lamps and the stars. Magical times.❤️ Thanks for restoring my childhood memories.
Is anyone else extremes impressed with how all of the restoration channels support each other in the comment sections? Because no matter who’s video I’m watching the other big channels are cheering each other on. Amazed❤️
I love the detail in the restoration of the logo
thank you so much 😊
He went the extra mile there.
Best restoration made here, the lamp was very rusty and you even recovered the label. I am impressed with the rust removal product.
thank you so much 😊 yes is very good
@Consome Deguacuco yikes
Hola
I don't know what it is but I just can't watch your videos without nodding off. It's not that they aren't interesting, they are. They are just so relaxing.
Same problem here
Excellent as always. Nice to see someone using WD40 properly, as a water dispersant and not as a lubricant or penetrating oil. I love how you saved the decal as well. Brilliant! Used paraffin lamps and heaters as a kid as a stand by during power cuts...I can still remember the smell.
I kept telling myself, "I really hope he lights it in the end" I'm so glad you did!
I restore things for a living , so it is nice to watch someone else doing the work and making a brilliant end product , thank you for taking the time to video all of your hard work

@Castle Bravo what??...since when??
@Castle Bravo yes I have seen all his videos in chronological order from the first to the latest and yes I have seen the playlist too just for the fun of it and I think I god so deep in to the videos I completely overlooked it 😅 but yeah thanks for reminding me.

I am hooked on restoration videos currently, and the best ones, like this one, add sly visual humor to keep us happy and engaged.
You didn't restore it, you brought it back to life. Ça ç'est "super banco" bravo.
Your vids are the best!
I have been restoring old pieces like this out of love and sometimes for profit for almost 40 yrs.
Glad to see a young guy like you ‘picking up the flag’ and doing it too.
The filming of your vids is outstanding, so is your very cool and stark looking work area.
Peace
Finally !!! At 7.35 we got to see your face. You are unmasked at last Zorro !
And he is very handsome!
oh yes, it's very epic moment

handy and handsome
He looks better than I imagined him ;) VERY handsome
I love that you take something that someone would look at and throw away and you make it look like new again , it always amazes me .
On the lamp I have, a push down on the lever raises the globe so you can light the wick from underneath. Not sure if yours works that way, but might be worth looking into.
I was beyond impressed w the attention to just the decal... your restoration videos are addictive and my opinion your 1 of the best at it...
can you restore my life?
no is to late

It's inspiring that something that would be discarded by the average person can be made useful again. How often we give up on things because we do not realise it would just take some time and effort and trying to make good again. Amazing.
I was so happy to see you use the heat resistant paint!
Золотые руки! Очень нравится смотреть, как эти вещи с Вашей помощью получают вторую жизнь! С нетерпением жду новых видео!
Wow! Gaby! This is such an amazing transformation! I am so impressed how you were able to restore/reuse that label--I didn't think it was going to be possible, but you made it happen! The MC-51 is a miracle product. You do such great work. Thanks for sharing your talent, skill, and neat flea market finds with us. Take care, my friend.
I guess Gaby is Tysy's name?
If you push the lever under the glass globe down it lifts the globe assembly for easier lighting. Great job on the restoration! Keep up the great work!
When you saved the label, I knew I was in the presence of true OCD greatness. :-)
I would of thrown that piece of rust out. You did an amazing job. You are a perfect example of patience and talent. Thanks for posting.
8:10 really an useful tool to have; to achive the dentist complete pack you should ask question to the lamp while working on it
I like listening to your videos while I paint and watching them when I'm not. I also like listening to them at bed time too. The sounds lull me into dream land, which is nice since falling asleep has been more difficult lately
It looks like you're having a good time and collecting interesting artifacts. Nicely done!
can I just start by saying, I don't know why I like restoration videos, but I do. I don't know why but it feels like a guilty pleasure, and to that end, your videos sir give me some of the most pleasure. I am very envious of your talent. your's are some of the most stunning finishings on the net. keep up the great work Mr Tysy. stay happy and healthy.
thank you so much 😊
Beautiful finish as always.I can't recall seeing anywhere that method of removing and cleaning a label. Spor la treaba in continuare.
I admire your talent. you give new life to old things, but of high quality! you have golden hands🌸
Beautiful restoration!!!!! But NEVER use alcohol as a fuel in these!!!
Don't worry - he's got firefighter helmet
Use petrol or white spirits or paraffin
Why not? Can you explain?
@@RoelfvanderMerwe I used alcohol once, and the wick got ruined, it stopped sucking oil.. also it does not light well
Why waste good alcohol on a lamp when you should be drinking it 👍👍
The sticker/decal restoration is by far one of the coolest things I have seen. Amazing job :3
super cool i remember using them when we were camping as a kid
My late grandmother used it mostly at her kampong (village) in Penang, Malaysia, because most kampongs had no electricity back in the olden days
Stainless steel scouring pads and soapy water will clean the glass very easily, even the small rust spits you couldn't quite remove. Great videos! Keep it up 🙂
Those white "magic" sponges are great for cleaning glass with no scratches. I used to use them on the glass doors of my log burner.
i think alcohol is the wrong fuel as it dosnt have oil like kerosene, and will just burn the wick many times quicker
True, use special lamp oil ...
Waouh ! Impressionnant ! J'adore les lampes tempête et la restauration est stupéfiante et méticuleuse.
Ce MC51 fait des miracles.
Et vos vidéos sont très satisfaisantes. Bravo et bonne continuation !
👍
You can remove top part. You have four pins there, just straighten them up and everything will fall down apart. I restored one lamp by myself, and found that way. You can see those pins when you removed handle that holds whole lamp
i know but will not work because is much larger than the hole
TysyTube Restoration it can go out the bottom
@@TysyTube if the chimney was put together, it can be taken apart.
I've found the same thing as Sasa. Just acquired a really rusty lamp myself, and was able to separate the top pieces by straitening the 4 pins and flattening the folded ring to allow the top part to pass through the bottom, revealing the spring. This is my first restoration, completely inspired by you and @My Mechanics. Keep up the amazing video's.
It's due a new wick is that...
You've made a lovely job of that...a lot of people would've taken one look at it...and launched it over the wall...
You gave it a chance...
Next please...👍
Olá amigo Parabéns a restauração ficou perfeita. Abraço! Rio de Janeiro Brazil
Your attention to detail is unmatched. Great work!
beautiful lamp sir... but that is not how you light a lantern. the lever at the base of the lamp just below the globe is how you lift the globe. also you have the wick sticking way too far out . fill the oil lamp with lamp oil denatured alcohol, let the wick saturate, adjust the wick just above its port, light it; release the lever to set the globe back in place then adjust to desired illumination. note, alot of wick sticking out does not necessarily mean good illumination. it's about finding that happy mixture of air and fuel. you'll get the hang of it. great job.. now i want to do some work on my 15 + lanterns in my house.
When I see TYSY Tube, I know I will be entertained, and will enjoy seeing a good quality restoration! Once again, you have turned junk into treasure... thank you, my friend!
Sweet work again man! Your videos get better each time, I think I've watched them all by now.
Great job. I once did the same with a hurricane lamp, was 59 years old, came out really well after some TLC...great feeling to watch it burn once again... 👍🏼

*ARE YOU A WIZARD?*
When the lamp was shown, I thought “THAT is going to be a tough one!!”
But the finished result is simply masterful!
Thanks for sharing 😃
Great video and work as always. I'm just not a fan of the metal-effect silver paint. To me it makes everything look plastic and cheap. I'd rather use a different color.
Another lovely restoration!
thank you so much 😊
That is one gorgeous restoration.
The lever should lift the glass enough for you to light and blow out the lamp.
You could do with a sand-blaster that can use plastic chips as well as sand. You'll find it very useful.
I don’t understand that at all
Why are there so many dislikes? This was a great video. Relaxing to watch, a great restoration and saving a nice little piece of history at the same time. Well done buddy
Haters who couldn’t even begin to do something as cool and productive as this..so they put it down.
There might be some due to the fact that he burnt through the whole wick within one use because he doesn't know how to operate an oil lamp, not to be rude.
Encore une excellente reprise grâce à un travail brillant! Guillouard les produit toujours. Merci beaucoup
Tysytube if you continue like this we will have an heart attack hahahah. Great job man as always. Bit by bit you are going on top of my favorite channels. Thank you for this.
thank you so much 😊
Best restoration channel ever.
From the first video the lantern video (for me) and till now no even can be more amazing this channel.
Absolutely awesome. Plus my old memories came back when I was in 1st grade.
Nice save on the decal!
thank you so much 😊
@@TysyTube Am I mistaken to think the final decal you put on the lamp at the end is a different, newly made one though? I couldn't help noticing that the shorter edges are different (zigzag on the original one, straight on the final one)?
Not as if it wasn't just as cool ;)
The sound of the tool at 8:21 made my teeth cramp up, it felt like when I go to the dentist! What a crazy sensation to get from a restoration video!
WT Kirkman is a US company that still make good kerosene lamps. Please, burn kerosene in kerosene lamps they really are engineered to be safe only with kerosene.
Absolutely! KEROSENE is what they are made to burn.... I had one explode when I used alcohol - just blew the filler cap off - I was very lucky! But PLEASE use kerosene!!
Glad you posted that. Yes Kerosene (UK = paraffin). Pétrole in French means Kerosene. Got a bit worried people are talking about gas / petrol! Very very dangerous, do not use. It will get hot, flare up and basically end in tears. They also tend to leak from the bottom roll joint. I have 6. They also work very nicely with lamp oil, gives a more gentle light. It's easy to buy from garden stores, safe to store use indoors and can get it scented or with a mosquito repellent. Fun to use, wicks last forever.
@@black5f They are quite amazing bit of technology, there is a little bet of technique in trimming the wick for maximum light output sort of a rounded at the edges approach so the flame is in a big fan shape.
@@MrCivildefense Hi There. I used to have six but two got their glass broken, they were bigger than the others and very nice. They are lovely and low tech. If you watch Firstblood, you will see the most irritating part in any film ever. Rambo in the cave picks up two of these, shakes them and throws them down breaking the glass. Then finds a tin with Kerosene or oil, rips of his clothes and makes a medieval torch to use it.
One of your most beautiful restorations yet
My grandmother named this tools as Kerosene lamp - not petrol... Russian "Керосинка". I never heard the name "gasoline or petrol lamp"
So hyped to see someone restore this one without leaving dangerous openings behind in the oil chamber
After watching: I see no alcohol leaking but is that cap safe without any rubber ?
Can you restore my bank account?
🤣🤣🤣
Financial Advisory can. Peace ✌🏻
I would take the gloves off to paint the decal. So enjoyable watching these restorations. One of the things I learned is to be gentle when working with mechanical things.
Плохо горит, коптит наверняка сильно.
Керосин не подходит.
Зажигается не так.
Надо на рычажок нажать, стекло поднимется.и тогда поджигать
Все верно. Только не факт, что он по-русски понимает.
Really love watching this person restore old stuff and try his best to reusable the original item
Fyi you light the lamp by pushing on the lever located top of the oil tank
Very relaxing to watch this, I love your work and how careful you are with the pieces, a whim, thank you for gifting us with your art.
Excuse me, but that looks more like it would be a lamp for use with paraffin (kerosene, K-1) fuel.
all fuels same
Very nice project. I particularly liked how you brought the decal back. The red highlighting was great. Unfortunately my hands are not capable of being that steady anymore. Wonderful job. R
U have to use "minyak tanah" for that 😁
Perfectly done. These lamps are still popular in Indian villages where electricity is still not reliable.
Sweet, a tysytube video to go with my coffee : )
thank you so much 😊
I collect kerosene (oil) lanterns...... best fuels are clear lamp oil, avoid "ultra pure" ..... avoid all dyed oils....... the dye will clog the wicks. These are great for indoors...... Klean Heat brand kerosene substitute is cheap and good outdoors and is ok indoors. Regular K1 clear kerosene is the cheapest fuel but good only outdoors. K1 and Klean Heat are good in cold weather. They won't thicken like lamp oil. I love to burn these outdoors, especially in the snow....... oh, wick trimming is essential!!
Beautiful restoration!!!
Brings back childhood memories.. Great restoration..
ASMR for men.
thank you so much 😊
and for women.
Not just men! I find these videos incredibly relaxing! 😜
@4AM Exactly brother!
Asmr is for all genders
Beautiful job. Love watching you restore.
...лампа не спиртовая , а керосиновая, впрочем это вам знать не обязательно😉..!
Love watching you restore all these old items. Keep up the good work.
Do you want to hear a joke
Lämp
Bröther? Do you have some lamp?
I need lämp but no
A most excellent choice of tools! The roto tool, with extension, and wire wheels. This machine and tools will serve you well. Don't forget to try and find small buffing ans polishing wheels. Also, the make small metal funnels for pouring lamp fuel into the tanks of these lanterns. All you have to do is be careful not to over pour.
This is the light at the end of the tunnel. Good job.
I have this exact lamp. It looks new because I bought it and never used it other than to test it, and it has been kept in the house and never got rusty. I just noticed they don't seem to be selling them at all now in the US. You did a great job on the restoration. Just a FYI, you can fill it much faster by pouring your fuel into the opening through a funnel. The needle and syringe is a bit time consuming. I use paraffin in mine.
Very good restoration, the colors were perfect. To light the lamp you have to lift the glass with the lever on the side, it's easier, do not tilt it to one side.
I really like watching your channel. I've seen similar, but I enjoy yours the most. The attention to detail is above and beyond and show real craftsmanship. Thank you and keep going!
With this restoration this lasts for another lifetime
Amazing! So nice to see these old items come alive again
Very relaxing and satisfying video. (Thank god there is no obnoxious royalty free music.) You lost me with the silver spray paint though! The metal was lovely imo
What you have done with the lable was amazing . Most people would just print another label .
Great job! Painting the firefly on the tag would be a nice touch too.
Este farol si que quedó como nuevo!!!! Felicitaciones! Trabajo de primer nivel!!!!
I'm addicted to watching restoration videos
It would be a good idea to look into making a "hot tank" from a metal trash can. This lamp has so many crevices and a huge interior surface you can't clean very well. If you're unsure of the material, you can use household cleaners or engine degreaser to clean the parts.
All I can is ....WOW....great work on it,and that cleaner works very well
