I'm glad you enjoyed watching this video. Sometimes apart from the age of the furniture, it is fun to challenge and I try to share my experience with you with my skills.
Excellent! I met a guy at a barn sale who bought an old desk. He removed some drawers, doors, and pull out components and left the desk. He was doing a restoration and needed wood from the time period of the desk. Always great to see such dedication and workmanship.
Thank you for your support and companionship, my friend. I am glad that the result of all these efforts to restore this old chest was satisfactory and enjoyable for you.
Most of the restoration work in furniture requires time, patience, and the use of traditional and new skills and techniques, and I will try to present you with details that are useful in the lives of those interested.
Hello my Polish friend. Yes, being patient in the restoration profession is one of the basic principles because you are dealing with very bad dirt and damage and sometimes it becomes a big challenge.
As always, you have impressed me with your skills. I really didn't think this piece could be saved. So much damage! But now, it is beautiful, and will live on for many may more years. Incredible! Thank you for doing what you do best, restoring OLD pieces.
Your work, style and techniques are really unique ❤ as your channel name. Keep on going your way and definitely we glad to watch your restoration videoes❤
I'm happy that you went to such lengths to maintain the 'rustic' appearance of the chest. A superb restoration of a beautiful hand made chest that is full of character. Well done.
@@CreativeIdeasMakerdid not expect the restoration would be a matt fonish, not a shiny sparkle plenty top. Very satisfying to see it ome about. Wherever did you get this thing? Good job.
@@nancyanneberg403 I am glad that this video on the restoration of the old special chest attracted your attention and was satisfactory. If you watch my channel, I restored a 500-year-old antique chest of our ancestors, which I suggest you watch. This chest was sent to me by one of my channel subscribers after seeing it to restore because they are both made of the same style of wood and with the same wood.
Thank you for your opinion and I am happy that I have friends and enthusiasts like you, and it is enough for me that my enthusiasts enjoy my work and my techniques.
Hard to say how old it is. This type of chest is known since around 600 years but build and used over very long times. Very old pieces are hard to get because tey were used till they are completely dead. I would guess it is made around 1700 and 1800 because of the wooden nails and the smooth surfaces.. But only a dendrochronological test could bring the truth. But they are expensive. In this condition it is worth around 250 - 350 €. Maybe more if you find a crazy collector. BTW: for the next cleaning you only need hot water with a shot of ammonia spirit and clear water to neutralize after cleaning. And for the finish only linseed oil. 😊
Thank you for all your useful and correct information. I am very happy to have people like you in my channel who can help all friends and people interested in this restoration profession. I'm glad you're here
