Just to clarify. We'll be doing more videos on various RV types. The purpose of this video was to make sure people without an RV are asking the right questions when they're shopping. We wanted to help get the conversation started so you can choose the RV that's right for you! By considering these 10 questions, you can make sure you're on the right track! :)
thank you and I absolutely love watching your videos. It just gives me even more reason to do cross country trips which is what I've always wanted to do since I was a young tyke.
Keep Your Daydream. Awesome video. Love the good natured presentation and the list is great. We have already done a ton of research into different types of full-time RV/tiny living options. While we will be traveling more in our long term plans (art festivals, fairs, arts shows etc), we first have to get out of the renting rut and own our dwelling. Our one requirement for our RV is that it has a separate office/art studio space (pet hair and paw prints do not mix well with sellable original art. Lol). This limits us to the longer (length) options with separate bunks in the rear or toy hauler space that can be converted. Those tend to cost more, so our budget will most likely push us to an older model. (Great point about being 20% under budget). It's what will get us started (hopefully by the end of the first quarter next year). That being said, we look forward to catching up on your videos and watching the new ones as the come out.
I agree that you need to consider what is possible rather than endlessly pursuing the ideal. We finally recognized that and bought a trailer we could pay cash for and pull with the truck we already owned and store in our driveway rather than pay for rental storage. We have been delighted with the result. We discovered that such a strategy fits with the life we already lead rather than completely redefining our life to fit a hypothetical set of changes.
My wife and I have been following and watching y'all for almost two years now, planning, dreaming and doing tons of research... we are now approximately 6 months away from buying our new "home" on wheels! We decided on a Fifth Wheel toy hauler so we can use the garage for a separate office space so we aren't "working" in the main living space, but the garage will also be our craft room. We will be going full-time and "chasing the sun" before my disability makes it where I can no longer do the driving, set-up and take down! Thank you for being such a fantastic inspiration to us and so many other people! Love the channel and your family is amazing!!!
We just bought our first rv, a Winnebago 1706FB. We just got back from Patagonia lake state park. It was a great trip and we are loving our rv, we are actually heading back this Tuesday for another 3 days. Thank you for the videos.
I am 70 years old, planning to make my next adventure RVing for at least two years. I am in "research mode" and have been "binge watching" UA-cam videos on how to get started. I just wanted to say of all the blogs Ive watched, I enjoy yours the most. I love the information, delivery and dynamics between you two. Great Job!! I am looking forward to "Keeping my daydream"
what a great message, love that you're encouraging others to get out there and make a dream happen. we started two years ago with a pop up and got stuck in a rain storm trying to close it up then cable broke half way closed, made for an interesting adventure-got us to upgrade to a hybrid tt. we got what fit into our budget and able to pull with vehicle we own. so important to us to be able to continue our travels without stress. i just did my first solo trip with camper (hubby stayed home with kids). You're vlogs have encouraged me, love watching them! thanks
Our oldest son lives in Central Point. They got married on a buffalo farm along the Rogue River. It was beautiful there! Another UA-camr said they had read that the average RV'er owns 8 RV's in their life. We have had our rig 5 yrs and still love it! We went back & forth on what we wanted. We probably looked 8 yrs before we made our decision and found our rig. Hubby was in the military so we weren't in a big hurry. One he retired we would have time to explore. We actually bought the rig 2 yrs before he retired. We still got out and used it during leave and on weekends. The only thing we would change, if we had to change something would be diesel instead of gas. But for the difference in price, the higher cost to operate a diesel, we are happy with what we have!
The best advice I got was from my sister in law who is not an rv’er. She told me to buy used to make sure I really liked rv’ing. She was so right! I bought my used Rv with the things I wanted in it ( from watching you tube) it still took me a year to get the courage to take it out. I’m a widow trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. Watching Trish drive gave me the courage to get out there and I joined a ladies camping group that got me going.
Love your message about taking advantage of what you can do TODAY rather than sitting around and waiting for the perfect rig/time/whatever. You two are such an inspiration and example of grabbing life by the horns and going for it! Thank you! Going to find your podcast now!
What I like about you is that you don't have a super tricked out RV and tow vehicle. You are a great example for those of us who can't afford the latest and greatest that it is possible to take that leap of faith and live your daydream!
You nailed it. I would have loved to stretch to get what we wanted, but we wanted to make it happen. So we did :) Our second rig might be closer to perfect for us.
I agree with Brian W. The outdoor kitchen is amazing! We just upgraded (after exhausting searching and compromise) we got a bunkhouse with an outdoor kitchen. Best thing ever!!
I have been camping and boating for 40 years, you nailed it. My wife and I can't wait till Friday ( for the vids ). this was a great explanation of what this is all about. Thanks
I have been researching and searching for two years! I originally wanted to build a teardrop!!!! LoL I started "loving" the fifth wheels, then looked at pull behinds. We bought the "right" truck...bought my hubby a Ford F250 diesel supercab! This baby is GORGEOUS! (Phase 1 complete) Sigh.....now I have to figure out "the rig"!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OK, I'm o....k.... I am happy to announce I found her! We are getting a 2015 Airstream Flying Cloud 28! (Well, when the owners get their new one that they ordered) We are over the moon excited! We'll wake to y'all when we drive by!
I agree with so much of what you are saying. I am in a 21'-6" travel trailer with a family of FIVE!!! Initially, I only had a mini-van so I was restricted to 3,500 pounds. I have to convert the table every night for our daughter and it is tight, but we have found that the RV is a tool to get us to destinations so we can do things once we arrive. We also see even the people in the large RVs spend most of their time outside anyway (unless it is raining) so the inside isn't as important. After all the towing gear, taxes, tags, outfitting, etc... we were at $16k for a brand new system with a 2 year warranty, Jayco 174BH (unit price was $11,200 winter special on sale before the season started). We have plenty of money to DO THINGS and when we aren't using it, I have zero heartburn because it isn't a ton of money sitting idle.
Your comments have helped me gently nudge my partner (boss-wife) into 3 trips this summer, because, at 74, I only have a few more years that I can break down and set up our 31' JayCo Flight... And we invested $60K in a new GMC 2500 crew cab to pull it when my 1500 GMC Denali blew up in 105 temp on a mountain pull... So, you're flat tire is trumped by my gas engine blow!!! LOL... On our first long range attempt...
Thank you to my favorite RV you tube family. Great advice as always. My husband and I pick up our "perfect" travel trailer tomorrow - a 24' Forest River Surveyor 243 RBS. I fervently hope that our adventures are as fun as the ones you've had with Ginger.
In 2000 we bought are fist travel trailer (TT) 20 ft. 2 Kids 6m and 4yo. we would walk the camp grounds and make a list of things we wanted in our next camper. Fast forward to 2017 thousands off miles and many trips later, we stopped years ago writing down what we wanted. Bottom line we made it work and loved the old trailer. This summer we have 4 trips planed kids 17 and 21 still love and want to come with us. The camper is 20 yo we bought it used and has never been inside always kept outside. Has been money well spent. My suggestion just get something under budget used and have fun. Thanks for the video.
We started with a older Class C and I loved it. My husband was itching to get a bumper pull so that was our 2nd and current rig. It still isn't our "perfect rig"! We thought we had a great "must have list" but learned a couple of things we did not think about after using the new rig only a couple of times. We will get it right one day! :)
Well, it's 2020 now and this is a great video. I have just recently started my search for my wife and my travel trailer. I subscribed to your and some of the other great channels recently and have learned so much. I am obsessed with the great advice I am getting! Thank you!!
Great video for us. We bought our first RV - Pleasureway Sprinter. There is only the two of us/no pets. Used it for 3 years saw 46 National Parks and it was the best. We are 67 now and our needs/wants have changed. We want to go and stay longer at places so on Friday we pick up our new 30' tow behind trailer. Love your videos of what you will need and hook up and take down. Your points were spot on when you say your first RV doesn't have to be your last. Just do it. Hope to see you out there. .
Great questions and answers. On buying your first RV, I always recommend you rent one first to see if it is really what you thought it is like. It is great to have a mentor or at least be willing to ask a lot of questions when you are starting out ( and even if you have been doing it a log time). Rv'ing is a great way to spend time with family,
GREAT advice and video! Just for an extra comment, we have a class a and it is still not all that easy to use the bathroom or make a sandwich going down the road! The best advice I have is start cheap so you figure out what your needs/wants are. We are into our second motorhome and learned so much from the first.
I love all your vids but this one is particularly helpful in directing our discussions about RV choices. I especially like the 'work with what you have and go sooner rather than waiting for the perfect set up' mentality. We're hoping to launch full time June 1, 2018.
Coming up on a year full time in a truck camper. Wife and 2 dogs. Like you say. The best RV is the one that gets you traveling to where you want to be.
How do you like the TC, ever wish you had more room? Im in the market for a RV, I love the Arctic Fox 1150, but also the 26ft Cougar TT. Would love some feedback, its a tough choice! Thanks!!
I just found your channel and subscribed in the last couple of days and my wife and I are strongly considering purchasing a truck and rv and doing it full time with our kids so thanks for all your great insight, inspiration and help. We enjoy your videos very much.
Thank you for this one! We've been searching for awhile and while I think we've found the "perfect" one, the budget required may keep us home longer than I want to be. We've definitely tossed around the idea of going smaller, for now, to get on the road sooner. It's a hard decision with 5 kids to fit somewhere!
Love all your videos! We're researching TTs & tow vehicles. But you said something that has hit home. Don't wait for the perfect setup, get out there. I think I'll pass that along tonight to my hubby. For now we're looking at weekend trips and one/two week trips. Time will only tell what we'll be doing. Thanks for all the tips and love how close you and your family are. Beautiful.
Very valid questions. Even though we looked at RV for 20 years. A lot of times we didn't know what questions to ask. So our first RV we traded it in 6 months which was not financially a good move but changing rigs was a good move so it was worth it.
Just bought our first TT....A 1685 Lance and on the same day found you guys on the tube. Subscribed immediately because you’ve already answered a bunch of our questions. Keep up the great work! Thank you!
How do you like the Lance. I've been looking for a TT. Also like the 1685 best. Could you please tell me how difficult it is to hook it up to the truck? My wrists aren't the best anymore. Thanks in advance.
Charlotte Pascual Sorry Charlotte for the delayed response. I don’t always check You Tube. We love the 1685. Easy set up and easy tow. It’s small enough to get into just about any campsite.
Our first trip cross county from New Jersey to Wyoming was in a car for two weeks, next year we bought a van, traveled cross country for 3 weeks. Used that for 6 years. Upgraded to an 18 ft class C. Had that for another 6 years. Upgraded again to a 24 ft Class C. Now we have a 28 ft Class A. Havent traveled in a few years. Had to put traveling on hold for a while. We traveled every year for 30 years for 3 weeks west and 2 weeks north east. We just get out on Saturday or Sundays for a ride around our local state parks. We love traveling cross country. Can't wait to get back out on the road. See you don't need the perfect rig to start your travel dream. Enjoy your adventures. Ill keep watching.
We made the mistake of financing our RV and so we're limited as to when we can go out because of the monthly payment on trailer digs into our travel money. But luckily our storage is only $35.00 a month at our mobile home park. But if we ever sell our place we will be living in the RV and traveling to new states to retire to. But when we're out we love it. We like the resorts. Great video guys
just discovered you guys about a month ago. My fiance and I are starting our RV Adventure this year and when we saw your videos we were super inspired buy the Topix and information that you provide. so thank soooooooo much for getting us "pumped up!!" first trip renting a 31foot Rv. from Colorado to Idaho July 1st -threw the 6th... wish us luck Brian and Diane (Arvada, CO)
We started with 23' TT, then to a 28' FW, now we're in a 40' toy hauler. This required going from a F250 to a F350 dually. We love it, but sometimes we're limited because of small campsites. I think a slide in truck camper would be a good secondary camper for some trips.
WE spent about 3 years researching and shopping for our travel trailer. I asked myself all of those questions many times in that 3 years. I know we didn't get everything we wanted but its close and I'm ok with that. Keep the great videos coming.
I JUST bought my 1st rv on Monday! There weren't many options in my area, as I wanted a class B, and they're very hard to come by, at least in my budget and area. I am happy to say I found one and will be full timing as soon as it has a mechanic take a look at it next week! Thanks for the effort you put into your videos and inspiring! Aloha, Amy
Timely advice for me. I start visiting RV dealers this weekend and I've been researching for a while trying to find the perfect choice, which I've pretty much failed to do. Every time I look at a new RV or type of RV I go all "That's totally the perfect choice." 2 days later looking online at another type, "That's totally the perfect one for me". I feel like a cat with ADD surrounded by squirrels.
We were given advice to go by the dealer multiple times but don't start talking purchase till the last week of the month or on holidays. They have to pay "Rent" on these units and they get very flexible when it gets close to having to make the payment!
Mark Mealman I know what you mean. FYI- Google the sizes of RV’s that are allowed into state parks across the USA. One more thing to consider! I think that used may be best, but use a Certified RV tech to check it out first. Here is a site for USER REVIEWS. Im finding out that not all RV’s are created equal! www.rvt.com/rv-reviews
Best advice I took from you - keep the driving short. We did our first RV trip in a rented Class C this summer, covered 4200 miles and 11 states in 2 weeks. Wish we would have just spent more time relaxing! Keep up the great videos.
Hey Guy's, You only live once, our motto is to live your life to it's fullest while you can. There is no guaranty about tomorrow. Work with what you have don't put it off otherwise you may have regrets. Stop living for everyone else....live for yourself!!!! Great give away, we invested in the Weboost cell phone booster for our home in the country and love it. When we travel in the rig we'll be taking the booster with us. Hugs to you and your family. Sandy and Jay Livesay
Isn't the Rogue Valley gorgeous?!?! I'm glad your experiencing it! There are SO MANY places to see in Oregon. The Coast, Crater Lake and Seven Falls State Park is fantastic! Look it up.
Unfortunately I listened to the sales lady who said, "Oh yes, your Jeep will tow up to 5000lbs." So, I bought the TT only to find out later that it won't. So, now I am shopping for a vehicle that will; when I have enough money to buy it. Thanks for the vids! I'm learning so much!
all great suggestions!! as a person who can work wherever "I can get signal" I am TOTALLY interested in a video on how you guys make working remote actually work. Keep the vids coming!
I'm taking delivery this weekend of our 1st trailer and we have a goal to head out asap and hopefully be full time next year. Your videos were extremely helpful in making many decisions on what to get and why since we are in the same boat (1st timers with no experience). Can't wait to be out exploring the open road!!
I think you hit the nail on the head....."perfect", there is really no such animal out there. We started off small with at 20' Hi-Lo and used it for 3 years and now we're in a 28' bunkhouse. I'm so glad we just pulled the trigger and did something. The things we've seen as a family have been awesome, we're 6 days away from starting a two month adventure.
Good video. My wife and I are going to start by just rving on weekends and vacations and then finally end with full timing when she becomes a traveling nurse.
Hi guys. Such great advice. The one that gets you going, and 20% under budget. That is the best advice I've ever heard. Love your down to earth comments. This is a great subject.
Just about ready to get our first RV, your videos have been a wealth of information and inspiration to get us started. Thank you both for what we have learned before making that leap. We look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future and I hope we can let you know about how our new adventures turn out.
Hello guys, Just wanted to say, great vids! I've been catching up on all your vids and have to say you have become one of my favorite UA-camrs. I absolutely love that you have taken the opportunity to just spend time together, it is so true that life is fleeting and it passes you by in a blink. My wife and I always talked about getting an Rv but it was never the right time, always something that would come up that required time and money. She passed away several years ago and left our two young kids ( 3 and 5 yrs old ) and I questioning a lot of things. At that moment I made the decision that we will always need more money that we'll never have, things will always come up and we will always be pressed for more time but the memories that my children and I make will be forever. They will remember the good times and hopefully laugh about all the trouble I've run into with our Rv. We have gotten to see and go to so many great places that will always be part of us. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us all.
Hello guys, Good points to consider. Our kids are grown, and I’m retired. We are downsizing our lives. Sold our extra cars and Sailboat. Soon we’ll sell the house. We are looking at a 24’ Class C to do some RV. We are looking at January to buy. We’ll considering the Summer to tour the Northern States, then to Winter here in Yuma, Arizona. Thanks for the advice!
All great advice! I totally agree with everything you mentioned. I'm satisfied with my 28 foot trailer now and will eventually upgrade to a fifth wheel once the time is right.
We have a 2006 Coleman E3 Offroad Pop-Up. And we get out atlas twice a year. But we will looking for a class c with a mini 4wd pull behind so we can get out and explore. I would say that my uncle had a pretty sweet set up to with a 2nd from the top lance in bed camper. He was able to put the legs down and level it in any condition and get out from under it and drive his truck anywhere. So what is you next rig?? Keep it rocking on the west coast (the Best Coast) and remember to Live-Life-Loud!!
As someone prepping a year and half out? RV choice is killer.. but second step after picking it. I have a list with comparing the types and considering already have a truck? May just do the trailer route. But till final choice? I will keep my word document with the types and pro/con list going on. Helpful video. Thanks for putting it out.
Great video! I found this video from 4 years ago it says. Great idea to about the right Rv to pick. There are so many choices. Some people will say it their budget they need something that fits their budget. And or the truck they have. Thank you for the video. It will help in the long run.
Your videos are so relevant and helpful for my Fiancé and I, who are looking to buy our first trailer. We're leaning towards a new 2020 Grand Design, 2600RB or 2670MK. Feeling intimidated by the size, but also want to ensure we have room to grow!!!! Love your advice.
You guys are awesome! In the videos it looks you're either from AZ or visit here a lot. You're so LUCKY it's going to be 118 here Monday. I watch your videos and now my Wife is talking about hitting the road, She even said I could go with her. :)
You guys are great we just bought our first travel trailer after starting out with an Aliner popup. Your point about dont wait start where your comfortable and dont try and find the perfect RV. WE Learned so much with the Aliner and that we enjoyed RVing and was ready for the next step. One point i think is workkng with a great RV dealer. Thanks
Have enjoyed your videos. Will watch a bunch more. May do some binge watching - something to do with covid around. Am a 71 year old widow and just bought my first travel trailer. May not be perfect, but I think it will meet my needs. Love to travel and wanted a way to do longer trips and include my dog. Plan on touring the northeast this year and then who knows. Really appreciate all your tips. Looking forward to great travels this spring.
Finding the "perfect RV" is daunting. We are on our 5th motorhome. We just bought a beautiful classy B+ Phoenix Cruiser 2351. We are selling our 2004 Thor Chateau for only one reason, the beds. I have a really bad back and need a regular 2 person bed. Otherwise we would not sell the Thor. So, IMHO, some things you should consider in buying . . . Cost, Useage and Storage, and Size: COST: Get warranty if possible and used if in great condition, join AAA and/or Good Sam Club. Maybe rent your RV out. USEAGE: Trailers are nice because they give you a vehicle you can drive after parking the trailer. Motorhomes are nice because they are more maneuverable and easier to park. Interior layout is very important. SLIDE-OUT is #1. STORAGE: Where are you going to store your RV? If possible at home is the best. That way you can use it as a spare bedroom, keep the batteries charged, operate the generator, maintenance, etc. That's what we do. SIZE: Buy the smallest unit you can comfortably live with. We have owned Camper Vans, Class A, and Class B motorhomes. The camper vans were okay for two people but we needed something for 4 people. Our small class A was a nightmare! The Chevrolet motor blew! We prefer the Class B Plus motorhomes for 4 people. The class B+ is more aerodynamic than the class C motorhomes, however, if you need room for more than 4 sleepers, then the Class C is fine. Another reason I prefer class B or C is that while driving you are surrounded by steel, unlike fiberglass in a class A motorhome. Steel gives stronger protection than fiberglass in an accident. Also, I like the easy ingress and egress of the van type doors.
Nicely done!!! Grants Pass looks spectacular. I haven't seen the laundry lady, the fruit/vegetable truck or the donut guy show up yet. We are off to Bend Oregon tomorrow!!!!!
I was just offered a job, this week, that will allow us to travel full time!! Trish...I am shoving my whole body through the door...lol. Thank you, both, for all the inspiration. Hope to meet you both on the road.
Love the advice. Another thing that is making the decision for us is finding a mechanic... We don't want a class A because my dad and brothers have to drive soooo far to find a mechanic that works on them and they cost so much. We have decided to stick with a trailer for now and maybe a class C later on.
That's why we have a trailer. The reason we took the ten questions approach is so people could answer the questions themselves. These kinds of topics have so many opinions. I'm sure over the years, we'll have every type of RV made. Different types for various stages of life. Family life with a budge - can't beat a travel trailer.
The military guy you mentioned with 4 years left by all means should buy now. His basic allowance for housing will more than cover the payment. Many guys will go this route and end up with a free RV as opposed to spending that money on rent. Two at my last assignment before retiring did it. Wish I had.
Thanks for all the great videos. I've learned a few things from ya'lls experiences and have added lots of destinations to our list. I do have one request though. Could you please be a little more specific with the campgrounds you stay in. Especially this one in Grants Pass. Thanks again and keep em coming.
Great topic! I enjoy your videos and (both) of your enthusiasm for life is amazing. We LOVE our class A RV. It sure is great to pee and poo without stopping. Also keeping the air conditioner on non stop makes the summer trips more enjoyable.
What a wonderful and inspirational video, you guy's are the best. Always a pleasure to follow your travels and adventures. We are in the procecess of selling our home in Nor Cal, getting a class A and joining you ...on the road! We did this for 3 years back in the early 90'S in baja california and what a amazing adventure that was.. memories that are Priceless!! . I have so much fun follwing you, especially season 2, can't wait to do mexico (mainland), and hope to run into you down the road.... maybe share a beer. Thanks for your inspiration...what a wonderful family you all are! Happy Trails!
Such a great video. I love that the right RV is the one that gets you on the road. I don't have to look for perfect. What will do for now till I know more what I want. Love your banter with each other. Fun to watch. Thanks
you are so right, that is almost the same way we came up with the rig we have now.Our rig is a 32 ft. 5th wheel, and we are planning to retire in 2019 and spend the next 6 months to a year on the road to experience life as retirees.Carbuf
Perfect video for us, thank you. We've been researching the "perfect" rig for about a year now... but in our defence, we couldn't do anything until now (husband is now getting out of the military!) We have a budget and we are sticking to it (despite seeing SO many beautiful rigs that are JUST JUST outside our budget!) and we've found a few and some excellent options that go along with them. We will be LIVING in our RV Full time and be travelling; just us, and our three big dogs. We're hoping to make a decision within the next couple of weeks. I am devouring your videos - so very helpful, thank you!
Be willing to walk and increase your search to a region... you just might get that out of budget rig in your hands :) There are KYD Insiders that bought 65k rigs for 35k by looking hard and not being attached :) Good luck!
Yeah, we've expanded our search immensely and found some excellently priced rigs further afield (far away from Florida, which is apparently extremely expensive) Thank you!
Hey guys, we've been watching your channel for a while now and finally decided to get our first fifth wheel...picking it up tomorrow! Your videos are super helpful and funny, thanks for doing this and sharing so our life and research is so much easier. I hope we'll bump into you at some campground. Cheers!
In BC...make sure you visit Victoria (Hatley Castle is where XMen was filmed and is gorgeous) and try some beaver tails downtown (it's a Canadian pastry that's to die for). Tofino is where the surfers go up island and is rugged and gorgeous. If it gets hot, the Sooke Potholes are cool.
My parents started out n tents, went to a pop up, then a small tag along, then a 28 ft RV, then a camper van which they used to travel the country when they retired. They did a 40 day RV tour of Alaska, they did the Calgary Stampede, the did the Rose Bowl all at different times coming from Massachusetts. They hit 49 states and slept in all but 2..,
Food weight, I have a home freeze drier and I FD all types of foods, between the the weight of raw or not freeze dried is ENORMOUS ! keep this in mind.
Hi Guys, Great vid and excellent advice. I concur with you on the 10 points and having gone down the same road (excuse the pun) in choosing an RV, we did just exactly what you both describe. We sat at home for a year looking at rigs, trying to figure out what we wanted. I had RV experience from a "previous life" when my three boys were small. Now they are grown men and I am remarried. So, what type of rig to buy. We attended several RV shows in the Toronto area and saw many different RV's and like you we decided on how much use we would have out of the RV, where we could park it beside our home and how big it needed to be for the two of us and our two little dogs. Bug and Harry. In the light of a happy marriage, we decided twin beds were a must. We also fell in love with the Airstream brand and then got sticker shock when we found out our new Airstream was going to cost almost $100,000.00 Canadian Dollars. Nope!! that's not happening. We decided on a used Airstream and had to go on a waiting list for the 25' model with twin beds to become available and despite it being a little older than we would have liked, the trailer just yelled out to us "buy me" and we did. I am retired now and we do marathon trips with Florida, Maine, Texas to see our family in the DFW and Colorado where I indulge my passion for steam trains. In closing, we bought the rig and then the tow vehicle. I know enough about machines and trucks to have a good idea of what we needed to "git er done" and the truck as I have mentioned before is a Ford F150 Ecoboost . Our trailer is a 25' Airstream and we could not be happier. We did have to do some work and your advice to have a slush fund is excellent. Thanks for a great channel. Enjoy BC. We have two sons living in the Vancouver area. Keith Stamper
If your passing through Valemount B.C, I highly recommend stopping in for a day or two. Tons of free camping down Kinbasket lake as well as a half dozen or so privately run campgrounds. Mt. Robson is about a half hour drive and Jasper national park is just over an hour away. There is also a FREE downhill mountain bike park on the edge of Valemount as well as atv and Jeep tours for hire. There are also lots of dayhikes and a bird sanctuary The bike park is free to ride but you'll need to have an extra vehicle to shuttle up the road to the trailhead. Feel free to get ahold of me. I'll ride with y'all👍
Great presentation you guys. I wanted a small trailer. Rick wanted a longer one with a slide.....so 😦 we have both. Mostly use the 29 ft as a casita for guests. The 22ft fits anywhere we want to go.
just started watching your videos. they are great very helpful, very nice , thinking about getting another trailor, have been out for many years. you make it look fun again
Love your channel. We have our 4th RV and this one is the one!, been "camping" for 20 years getting ready to full time in the next 3-4 months! Super excited. Hope to see you on road one day. SantanaRVing
I love your energy and you guys are so cute together! My hubby and I may be laid off and considering getting an RV for back up plan while we look for another job/lease. I love these questions, things that we need to be asking but didn't know what/how. Thanks!
I'm sorry, the information you are providing is undoubtedly very interesting.... but I cannot take my eyes away from that scenery behind you!It is absolutely beautiful... and so are the both of you and your family!Once again my congratulations to your cinematographer.
I plan on trying to find peace and quiet out by myself or with my mate off the grid in a smaller 18 foot tow behind. I enjoyed seeing the sites and I have a few places I have never been to. Like up to the northeast coast..Maine New Hampshire, pensylvania . I plan on putting up a covered awning in my yard beside my house to keep it stored with the wheels off and stored out of the sun. Less money spent on the camper equals more money for going to do things. I have been a mechanic most of my life so I'm not concerned about having to do the maintenance on the RV.
You two are just a butt kickin' laff riddled good time as I watch yer videos! Thanks so much for covering all aspects of the RV life in Trailers to Class A's.....I have driven the 'Bu'...Malibu North on the PCH a thousand times...enjoy! See ya somewhere sometime on the road.
Would love to see you maybe talk to any singles you run into out there about their experiences for those of us considering heading out on the road on our own.
You continue to amaze me! ....both of you have such a natural rapport that I feel is at the heart of your videos......your videos are so natural sans the false nonsense banter that taints so many UA-cam videos.....
just a question on your giveaways: If someone wins, do you ship to Canada?
We'd ship to Guam if an Insider lived there! :) Yes, we have many Canadian KYD Insiders. Ginger even says "eh".
thank you and I absolutely love watching your videos.
Yo, forehead. Your wife is absolutely gorgeous
I love that you said the RV that gets you out on your trip is the perfect RV. Well said.
Sweet. Thanks!
Welcome! That's great to hear that you're making it happen. Such a great way to travel and spend time.
what a great message, love that you're encouraging others to get out there and make a dream happen. we started two years ago with a pop up and got stuck in a rain storm trying to close it up then cable broke half way closed, made for an interesting adventure-got us to upgrade to a hybrid tt. we got what fit into our budget and able to pull with vehicle we own. so important to us to be able to continue our travels without stress. i just did my first solo trip with camper (hubby stayed home with kids).
Thanks
Very nice. Thanks for the comment. :)
I have been researching and searching for two years! I originally wanted to build a teardrop!!!! LoL I started "loving" the fifth wheels, then looked at pull behinds. We bought the "right" truck...bought my hubby a Ford F250 diesel supercab! This baby is GORGEOUS! (Phase 1 complete)
Sigh.....now I have to figure out "the rig"!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OK, I'm o....k....
Love it! Keep in touch. Ask us anything. So glad you're making it happen.
Welcome! Keep in touch.
Having a good time is SO connected to having the right attitude!
Beautiful.
You got it. Our second rig will be a lot more perfect than our first! Without any rig, it's hard to get right anyway... so why stress about it! :)
Thank you!
Those Lances are nice. Congrats. Glad you're here.
Holy crap, we've been "looking for the perfect rv" for a year!!!! Getting it done and getting out there.
Love it. Let your second one be perfect! :) Our will be!
My fiance and I are starting our RV Adventure this year and when we saw your videos we were super inspired buy the Topix and information that you provide. so thank soooooooo much for getting us "pumped up!!"
first trip renting a 31foot Rv. from Colorado to Idaho July 1st -threw the 6th...
wish us luck
Brian and Diane (Arvada, CO)
Hey there Brian and Diane. You don't need luck... just take your time in everything and you'll have a blast!
Keep the great videos coming.
i checked out your tour on your trailer. wow the big slide out makes a big difference.
Aloha, Amy
We are heading out in October 2022! We just have 2 more houses to flip and we are on our way! Thank you so much for this confidence boost.
Welcome to the inside of my head! That's awesome. Happy shopping. As I've said in other comments. Let your second rig be perfect! :)
We were given advice to go by the dealer multiple times but don't start talking purchase till the last week of the month or on holidays. They have to pay "Rent" on these units and they get very flexible when it gets close to having to make the payment!
"Cat with ADD surrounded by squirrels". 😂😂😂Brilliant! Quote of the Day. 🏆
Me too!!!
Best advice I took from you - keep the driving short. We did our first RV trip in a rented Class C this summer, covered 4200 miles and 11 states in 2 weeks. Wish we would have just spent more time relaxing! Keep up the great videos.
Hey Guy's,
You only live once, our motto is to live your life to it's fullest while you can.
If you're heading to BC be sure to stop in Osoyoos. I stay at the NK'MIP Campground and RV Park. It's one of my favourite places in the world.
AWESOME!!! I asked for this video a few weeks back and here it is. BRB grabbing a beer.
I want one! Sweet.
Outdoor kitchen! Especially with a larger rig. Keep all the cooking smell outside! I wouldn't even look at anything without one after owning one.
Good video. My wife and I are going to start by just rving on weekends and vacations and then finally end with full timing when she becomes a traveling nurse.
Thank you for giving this in depth analysis of the RV lifestyle and the realities. It makes us think more clearly about the truth.
Hello guys,
Just wanted to say, great vids!
Great comment Alex. That's tough, but you're spot on. There is never a good time and always a way to start now. Happy RVing.
Alex Maysonet Trust when I say, she is right there with you. Best wishes to you and your children! There is no time like the present!
Yes!!! Your coming to our home of BC! Can't wait. We love camping up here!!
This was a great talk! Good points. Have reached same conclusion. None absolutely perfect...the perfect one gets you going. Nicely done.
Excellent advice, love the best RV "Is the one that gets you on the road" good advise Guys. Love you're channel and positive messaging.
Thanks. In hindsight, this was a difficult video. So many other things to mention, but you got our key point. Thanks for the comment.
Hello guys,
Good points to consider.
We are looking at a pop up trailer. So ready to get outside and go camping and this was very informative thank you
All great advice!
Also were those Mojitos? I am thinking something similar. Not sure if that makes me observant or too fond of drinks...? =)
Lived there for 40 years! N. Scottsdale area. Yes, we don't miss June-Aug :) I heard it was hot this weekend.
So, IMHO, some things you should consider in buying . . . Cost, Useage and Storage,
and Size:
COST: Get warranty if possible and used if in great condition, join AAA and/or Good Sam Club. Maybe rent your RV out.
USEAGE: Trailers are nice because they give you a vehicle you can drive after parking the trailer. Motorhomes are nice
because they are more maneuverable and easier to park. Interior layout is very important. SLIDE-OUT is #1.
STORAGE: Where are you going to store your RV? If possible at home is the best. That way you can use it as a spare bedroom,
keep the batteries charged, operate the generator, maintenance, etc.
The class B+ is more aerodynamic than the
class C motorhomes, however, if you need room for more than 4 sleepers, then the Class C is fine. Another reason I prefer
class B or C is that while driving you are surrounded by steel, unlike fiberglass in a class A motorhome. Steel gives stronger
protection than fiberglass in an accident.
Lol, or bread truck. What gives! We're headed to Bend this weekend. Look for us.
Yeah, we've expanded our search immensely and found some excellently priced rigs further afield (far away from Florida, which is apparently extremely expensive)
Thank you!
They hit 49 states and slept in all but 2..,
That's how it's done!
I laughed at your description of a 16 point turn around hahahaha!
Food weight, I have a home freeze drier and I FD all types of foods, between the the weight of raw or not freeze dried is ENORMOUS ! keep this in mind.
Hi Guys,
Great vid and excellent advice.

Keith Stamper They are such a dream to haul! You can forget it's back there!
There are also lots of dayhikes and a bird sanctuary
The bike park is free to ride but you'll need to have an extra vehicle to shuttle up the road to the trailhead.
Point 11. 2 trailers make the perfect 1 :)
just started watching your videos. they are great very helpful, very nice , thinking about getting another trailor, have been out for many years. you make it look fun again
Welcome Chris!
We just started thinking about getting an RV. This was very helpful and well done. Thank you.
Thanks so much for covering all aspects of the RV
life in Trailers to Class A's.....I have driven the 'Bu'...Malibu North on the PCH a thousand times...enjoy! See ya somewhere sometime on the road.
The 'Bu' video is uploading now. 62% as I type. Thanks for your comment.
Awesome video. Would love to see you do a current rendition of this video considering the ridiculous prices of RVs these days.
Would love to see you maybe talk to any singles you run into out there about their experiences for those of us considering heading out on the road on our own.
Thank you for making these videos! I am currently researching RVs and your videos are super helpful!
You continue to amaze me! ....both of you have such a natural rapport that I feel is at the heart of your videos......your videos are so natural sans the false nonsense banter that taints so many UA-cam videos.....
You're too kind Trevor, but you can stick around.
Hittin it out of the park once again!!
