- 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango won't start fuel pump relay tipm recall issue temporary fix 2011 2012 2013 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee tipm totally integrated power module problem 188000 vehicles are being recalled. The TIPM has the fuel pump relay soldered into it and is semi impossible to replace without damaging the TIPM there are ways around it but I suggest taking your vehicle in for the recall so CHRYSLER can be liable for any issues that come out of this problem.
THANK YOU FOR THIS LIFESAVER!! I've read too many problems with the MOPAR TIPM, and our Town and Country started acting funny and today the fuel pump was staying ON all the time, key off. Your video helped me solve the problem. BUT our van is NOT part of the recall so I shall buy a replacement relay and replace the OEM in the TIPM that is bad. Again thank you!

in the 90s Mercedes Benz bought Chrysler dodge jeep , in 2011 Fiat bought Chrysler dodge jeep...I read a documentary about 7 million of this vehicles affected including VW ...basically it's a Mercedes Benz...the new German engineering it's not reliable...definitely I won't get one of this....great video buddy...

Great video.. I just ran into this problem and I am guessing this is my problem. I have been checking on UA-cam and Google and it seems to be the same problem I am hoping this will fix my problem.
Question 1: Do you cut both ends on the Male connectors?
Question 2: Does the amp holder come just straight with no connectors and all I have to do is connect the Male connectors at the end?

Strange, i bypassed the M7 fuse (POWER OUTLET #2) to the M25 fuse (FUEL PUMP) on my 2012 Laredo just in case I'm in a jam and it still fires up? Odd...

Okay that jumper bypass won't work if there is already an external relay recall installed will it. My daught has a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it has an external relay put in which is how they fix the recalls because the stupid fuel relay they put on those fuse boxes are soldered to the under side of the fuse box instead of just having a regular fuel relay you can pull out from the top like most vehicles. And instead of taking the fuse box apart and de soldering the old relay and soldering a new one in they decided it was easier to add an external relay and splice into the wires. And the warranty on that recall is only good for two years. But now those external wiring harness are almost impossible to find even the dealer can't find them. They told my daughter the recall they did on it is bad and needs to be replaced and they can't find the part anywhere. smh!
What the dealer did isnt that difficult, it can be reversed or maybe just buy another cheap relay and install it to see if it works, the mechanic that is working on it may not be that informed on this subject.
@@a96fzr600 We already bought a new relay. On those external relay wiring harness 4 pin that the dealer installs when they do the recall actually just uses a universal relay that can be bought at any auto parts. I can buy the same kit that dealer doesn't have because they will only replace it with one from Chrysler or they won't guarantee any warranty. It's not that difficult but for the average person you still have to know what you're doing. Have to pull the fuse box up enough to get where they spliced into the wiring and cut and resolder the new external relay harness. But the process can't be reversed once they do the recall and put the external relay harness on it. I'm finding out even if you soldered in a new original relay on the bottom or buy a whole new fuse box at $300-$400 you would still have to always use the external relay because several wires were cut from the 40 way pin connector and spliced and soldered onto the external relay harness. Everything I have researched and read shows that to be true, The dealer just wants to replace the whole fuse box and the entire 40 way wiring harness at the price of $2500. I have an auto electrician looking at it right now. Only trouble is it is starting fine now and he can't really check it right until it messes up again. I'm convinced a new external relay kit will work. Either where they spliced and soldered one of the wires and resoldered is lose now and not getting good contact or it's the 4 way pin connector where the external relay plugs into that is lose. Either way a new external relay respliced and resoldered should fix it I think. I will let you know.
David A did you fix it ? If so how ? ....for some reason the 20amp fuse next to the external relay is going bad on me and my car won’t start and every time I change it keeps going bad

Already had recall done. I'm getting electrical power to fuel pump but pump is not pumping on a brand new fuel pump. Wonder what the problem is? All my relays check out good
I had the recall done and the jeep died out when we were driving, dont have to much faith in the crappy relay they use and the flimsy connectors seriously you will have to diagnose the whole circuit from the new relay they installed, find the spot on the relay that is power out feeding the pump and if its got power but there is no power at the pump and i mean no power at the pump when actually checking for power with a tester not just listening for the pump to turn on then there is a problem with that circuit which is unlikely but possible.
Do you have a good ground in the fuel pump circuit it might not be getting ground to complete the circuit.

there is a recall for this just had mine done it broke last summer recall came out in december i got my money back from chrysler before taking it in to dealer for free harness replacement and relay move it was built wrong lo l$250
I had to recall done as well and the vehicle died on me a week later on the access road in heavy traffic luckily I was able to swing into a parking lot I rigged it up again and drove it home I ended up selling the Jeep.

It doesn't matter where you bought it the dealer will still perform the recall, call the dealer and give them the vin number and they will let you know if your vehicle can be covered in the recall.

Yes, local dealer took a month to get me in, and after we got the recall done the Jeep died out randomly on an acces road, the crappy relay they installed failed.
Damn, I did all the recalls in march 2018 . And it started to do this today :/
@@robertcharriscabrera7902 i dont know whats better bypass it or take it back to the dealer either one poses a threat of it dying out and it can cause an accident, I sold the Jeep and bought a Nissan Rogue, I suggest putting the liability on Chrysler, I only recommend bypassing to get it temporarily running until you can get it addressed. I decided to no longer put my family at risk with this vehicle, the fuel pump relay issue already caused accidents in Jeeps, I also put two water pumps and an alternator oh and replaced the motormounts as ther cracked and broke the exhaust manifold bolts and ruined one cylinder head, all that on a 2012 vehicle I got fed up and sold it.
