there is no subscription you can subscribe, the ODIS reprogramming requires dealer account, only dealer having the account, and some of the dealer can rent you for 1 hour $50, after 1 hour they reset the password
So what I've seen online about ODIS is every time you use it you have to pay $50 and that will only give you access for 1 hour and then you have to pay another $50 to use it again for another hour after you purchase the software and Hardware is this true.
If you want to change units (ECU,CD changer, AC electronic unit, etc) in you car you must use ODIS online to remove the component protection and program the new installed units, but for the rest of the procedures everything is mainly offline.
I just wasted $295 including delivery on VCDS Hex in an attempt to get my electric tailgate working. When closed the tailgate module showed that it was 66% open, I just wanted to change that value in 6D to zero. VCDS cannot do it, they have been very little help so far, can ODIS? It seems such a simple thing, so many other codes can be easily changed and I do not know how to find security codes or even if they are needed.
So this makes very little sense. So why can't VCDS reprogram modules? OBDEleven supposedly can and it's less in depth than VCDS. So what it boils down to, you ODIS otherwise you are stuck with limited functionality for anything but the dealer software which you then need to pay for any fixes other than running a scan. Lame.
That is true. OBDeleven can do some soft reprogramming but not something like ODIS where you actually need to go online on VW servers. I did discover an easier tool to actually reprogram every module in the car with online connection to VW servers but the price is a little bit spicy. If you are a DIYer and would like to make some extra monies. I think it's worth it. Much more user friendly than ODIS, and more reliable as well. Cheers!
@@77wassuI ended up buying VCDS and grabbing a free Windows laptop from a coworker. So I hope it works. Also had a Driver Assist fault pop up out of nowhere. No lights, but when I press the button on the driver door I get a fault. Great!! Something else I have deal with.
Great video. Can you pull key pin codes with any of these programs to program new keys or fobs?
Yes you can 👍
Do you know how to update multimedia using odis?
where to buy legal ODIS-E? is that enough to flash a steering control unit? or do i need a subcription. where to subcribe (if needed)

Do these both use the same dongle/adapter thing?
No, there is different interface (dongle)
@@JaroslawS1989 thankyou
Yes, as @JaroslawS1989 said, there are two separate interfaces and cables. Go with VCDS, it's much more easy to use :P for normal stuff.

For reprogramming and use extensive module functions ODIS is the way to go for sure.
VCDS won for me because of the scan speed.
Yes the scan speed is good working with VCDS

@@77wassu What’s the alternative you’re talking about? Sounds interesting. Thanks
