Where exactly were it established that colossus power turns all his tissues to steel. I'm asking about the classic issues. I've been a die hard fan since the 90s and have only ever seen his power described as as turning his skin 'epidermis to organic steel and Emma as her second mutation came into the comics were similar to colossus power with the exception that hers turns all of her diamond all the way through, hence the defined weak point that she can be shattered if a particular part of her were struck with enough force.
Her shatter point has been repeatedly referenced on multiple occasions in various media and series but nothing similar of colossus has ever come up.
Even the Thing has been thourougly established to have a unique rock physiology all the way through in various official comic book guides, with diagram showing his insides.
Colossus hasn't been shown depicted as such at any point but his power has consistently been described like armored skin, by multiple authors and series. Which is weird to specifically use the word "skin" if it goes deeper than the skin layers themselves. 💁♂️
Yeah I think I’ve seen dead Colossus with his innards made of steel. Was it way back (80s maybe) in something like the Magic (his sis) limited series?

In the Age of apocalypse saga the colossus of that alternate reality always wore a bandage on his head because some acid was poured on him, and had an armour which replaced certain parts of his body which were damaged in war. I remember that colossus never reverted back to human form, because the pain and damage would not be tolerable for him. He was a very deranged version of colossus and psychically unstable.
I always read that all his body could transform in "organic metal". Unlike Ben Grimm whose skin is rock, while the inside is not. Hope that helps.
There were writers back in the day that explained that while technically able to cut through anything Logan simply doesn't have the strength to pierce some substances.
This makes the most sense. I find it stupid that Wolverine can cut through metal doors and things like that just because he has adamantuim claws. All that adamantium claws means is that adamantium won't break. You would still need superhuman strength to cut through/break through other metals.

Yes & no. OG Wolverine's claws weren't as sharp as they were just a byproduct of the weapon-x process. When Apocalypse re-bonded adamantium to Wolverine he did a more thorough process which removed the adamantium poisoning & made the claws super sharp.

Except that Colossus doesn't just have osmium steel skin, his entire body becomes comprised of it. In other words, Colossus doesn't bleed. (read the Mutant Massacre storyline from way back, Colossus vs Riptide and Harpoon)
Current writers really need to remember the character's powerset before doing a stupid story like this.
It’s also not the first time this has come up. Back in the 90’s during Jim Lee’s run X-men 3 Blue team was under Magneto’s control and Storm and Jean were running simulations of Blue vs Gold team and it would take while but Wolverine would take out Colossus.

Wolverine has managed this feat in more timelines than not. Depending on the writer he cant because hardness of adamantium dosnt matter if you cant exert enough force but other writers depict Wolverine's claws like lightsabers just shredding everything effortlessly.
In the Fall of the Mutants storyline, Colossus' skin is punctured several times by a Marauder in the Morlock tunnels. Magneto tries to heal his wounds using magnetism and he "sees" energy leaking from Colossus like blood.
I think that was The Mutant Massacare storyline.

Yeah, at one time it was stated that his internal mass turned to pure energy. They've changed things all the time to suit the story... lazy writing. But in no universe did colossus ever "bleed" blood.

Claremont era Colossus had a hole on his chest - in metal form he bled energy. Magneto fixed him and he couldn’t revert back anymore. Wolverine could cut him up easy but it wouldn’t kill him.
Things changed so much it all depends on the writers (re)interpretation of things.

His ability to actually pierce his armored skin depends on the story, sometimes he can, sometimes it essentially bounces off, but generally for both it’s because of the property of his skin, not the durability itself

Short answer: yes. Colossus' metal body is not indestructable like adamandium, or Captain America's shield's vibranium based alloy, it's just very resistant, and it was damaged by other powerful enemies. Wolvie just lacks the strength to pierce it in one go.
Captain America's in comic was created from proto-adamantium alloy (adamantium that we used to know was an attempt from his creator to re-create it back but unsuccessful which lead to the creation of True Adamantium that we know today)
Sure he could pierce his skin but colossus should have knocked him out.

Exactly. Adamantium is the strongest metal there is and on wolverines(others.)claws can cut through literally anything as long as sufficient force/strength is applied.
I saw a discussion on another short about which metal is stronger between vibranium and Adamantium as the short showed wolverines fail to pierce the hulks skin while a mutants vibranium daggers sunk into his green flesh. "World breaker hulk vs the X-Men".
When tge reason isn't that vibranium is somehow better stronger version but that it is its property to absorb and build kinetic energy that supplied the neccesary energy required to pierce the hulks skin where the wolverines strength didn't generate enough. 🤷♂️

Wolverine needs to repeatedly attack him at a precise point in order to penetrate him. Considering that colossus is way stronger and more durable than wolverine, he can quite easily knockout wolverine before getting heavily injured.

Like a knife can easily cut thru paper. But u need a lot of strength (or specifically a lot of force) to penetrate a book.with a knife.
Right. Wolverines claws aren't removing metal like a saw blade. They are instead forcing the two halves apart. That's easy to do with paper, but when it comes to metals engineered for strength it's not.

These writers are so bad. Logan actually shouldn't be able to breach colossus. The adamantium can cut through near anything, provided he has enough strength. Also, colossus is solid osmium and is probably much stronger since magneto used his magnetism to reorganise his metal body to permanently buff him.

Your bike crashes your leather gets scratched it get damaged, but it never damages you. The leather looks worn, but the under lying parts your skin( Thanos organs in this analogy) are fine. Vs a sheet of metal. same crash that metal is just lightly scratched almost no wear. You CAN get through the leather its just really HARD. So stabbing Thanos, or cutting hulk isnt the same as stabbing a block of metal.

the inner workings of colossus have rarely been properly explored. then you have multibple verisons..the Ultimate Xmen version is VERY different from the original, for instance. there's been at least write up where a transformed colossus is an odd mix of metal and energy...other writers put orgnaics inside. It's a bit like "how does Thing's body work?" it's one of those things that has NEVER been well defined, and tends to change over time. for instance, there's been multiple cases of Dracula somehow biting thorugh the metal skin to transform Colossus. THAT shouldn't happen either.

Quite the contrary. Wolverine can penetrate Colossus' skin easily. You are under the false assumption that his adamantium claws are simply durable cutting weapons. They are actually more like sharp razors that can separate matter like butter.
Logan has IN CANON pierced Colossus' skin multiple times in comics. Off the top of my mind, he did it in Age of Apocalypse, for example.
Colossus is strong, but it's not like he's invulnerable. His organic metal body has pretty much the durability of a metal statue (which wolverine can slice like paper), he's not particularly dense.
If there's any bad writing, it's this story. The writer is being inconsistent with estabilished canon.
Been reading X-Men since the 80's. I know what I'm saying.
Logan has always been consistently portrayed as perfectly capable of fighting opponents with super strength. That's why he routinely fights with the Hulk. His claws can pierce basically through everything, his skeleton is indestructible and his soft tissue regenerates in seconds. His powerset is pretty much built to make him a perfect counter to bricks.

I believe what happened was Wolverine's soul was in hell and his body controlled by demons. When they fought Colossus threw Wolverine up through the roof and Wolverine came crashing down right on top of Colossus with his claws drawn. That extra force may have helped out.

I own some of the issues of that storyline. The writers didn't just pull them out of nowhere. The demon possessing Wolverine was running wild for quite a while, people had to be gathered to stop him.
Colossus was stabbed thru by Wolverine in the The Amazing X-Men #12, when Wolverine was transformed into a Wendigo.

In age of apocalypse wolverine stabs colossus from behind into his heart and kills him with one thrust. If that canon then yes, his claws can penetrate Colossus’ skin and Colossus does have internal organs.
That's canon, but it's possible that their powers work differently in that universe, not the same as in the 616 continuity. I dunno if that's actually the case, but it's an easy excuse the writers can fall back on when we point out inconsistencies.

There was never a question about this before, Wolverine’s adamantium claws should make short work of Colossus’s skin. Adamantium is one of the strongest metals in Marvel comics and has been shown to be able to cut through anything besides Captain America’s shield. 🛡️

There is a nuance here. While Wolverine's claws are sharp enough to cut Colossus, Wolverine is not strong enough to do it. In this storyline, Colossus's metal comes from another dimension and phases in and out based on integrity. Basically he was softer because of Hell fire.

In simpler terms if you place a razor sharp knife on a top of a piece of wood its not going to magically lightsaber through it. The metal is strong enough, but there isnt enough force behind it to do anything .

Honestly isn’t adamantium the strongest metal? It should be able to pierce colossus like butter.
Maybe not like butter but it should be able to dent or cut with enough effort. Kind of like if you were to take a knife and trying to cut cement, metal knife is stronger than cement but it wouldn’t cut it like butter.

Wolverine punctured Colossus by force. Wolverine's soul was in hell and his body possessed. The force came from Colossus throwing him through the roof and him crashing on Colossus with blades extended.
I’m not very up to date on comics but I love colossus. Has he ever had adamantium skin or ever been more of a powerful character? He always seems to be secondary to the others. It would have been neat to make his skin adamantium rather than steel. Or maybe upgraded at some point.
He had Juggernauts powers on top of his own for a while. He's had several temporary power ups over the years like that

Colossus is the metal man. Not just skin. I'm seeing that I'm not the only one who remembers this, but obviously the writers either have amnesia or dementia, because they don't remember that. Wolverine can't technically put his claws through Colossus, but they came up with hulkverine. When wolverine doesn't have the strength, they call in the hulkverine and he obviously DOES have the strength for pretty much anything. I gotta say that the hulk version of everyone is only cool the first time. I mean, what's next? Iron hulk? Spider hulk? Star Lord hulk? Drax hulk? Come on people, relax with "hulking" everyone.
they did like half of those I think. Spider hulk and and cyclops hulk were kind of cool.

Another flaw in superhero comics:
No matter how sharp Wolverines claws are or how hard, they are NOT THIN. So it is nearly impossible to cut through hard material, because you would need super strength to force the blades in. That's why good kitchen knifes are not only very sharp but also very thin.
Wolverine might easily scratch Colossus or a steel bar or a shotgun, but to cut through, he would need to have super strength - and he doesn't, does he?

In earlier x-men era, colossus stated he was worried that Logan's claws could easily cut through his organic metal.
This is just as bad as Angeldust being able to choke Colossus in the Deadpool movie. He doesn't need to breath in his steel form, and you can't break his neck. Side note: he doesn't need to eat either...but they messed that up too in Deadpool 😏
His entire body, including his innards, are of that incredibly durable organic metal. He won't bleed if something cuts him. These writers suck!
