Thank you for the very practical examples. I recently bought the Hohem iSteady M6, and was trying to get a good understanding of the differences between the various modes. Being a visual learner, your video clips showing the effect of the various modes was extremely beneficial to me. I am about to head off on my first extended vacation using the gimbal. This is so helpful! Note that sometimes Pan Follow is called Tilt Lock, and PoV can be called FPV. To summarize: Lock = all axes locked. Tilt Lock = Pan Follow = pan only. Follow = follow tilt and pan, but horizon is straight. FPV = PoV = follow all axes.
Yes most gimbals use different names… once you understand how the motors work, you won’t need those names anymore 😉👍

Thanks for the great gimbal techniques! Always love learning from new people. One technique i seen was while you were walking backwards..you can walk forward and reverse the shot in editing 😉

So very helpful! I've made myself some cheat sheet index cards with notes from this video to carry with me until i can memorize the best modes for the shot. I have vacations coming up and I want to film some b-roll footage whenever possible. Now to figure out external lenses for my s21 ultra. Grand Canyon area coming up in September.

Lovely video Zdenka, I would like to ask you a qustion , I saw that sometimes you used an extension pole with the gimbal to simularte dron shots, but how do you select the gimbal modes when they depend on keeping pressed the trigger (like in moza mini P)? Thanks in advance.
Good question…. Unfortunately some gimbals cannot be used with monopod…. As yes you cannot use those modes there

@@ZdenkaDarula I have a thing called discitis I have had it for 12 months google it and look at the images they’re not gory they just x-rays then you’ll see what I’m talking about why I can’t walk and how much pain I’m in I have to wait till infection completely goes before my surgeon can operate first of two operations.

Ohhh.. That's why my snow video was bit shackyyy... I new about modes but forgot that to use as I was using mobile camera app and not the gimble app.

Good examples. How much time did you put into learning one mode? I mean when you are out, do you stick at experimenting with one mode until you have it? Also I am not good yet at when to twist my wrist or when to turn my whole body. Some things come naturally to me but gimbals it turns out are not one of those things.
Yes you simply just need to play with it few times. The more you practice the more clarity you will get… I used to just sit and literally played with it to see how it moves
What mode would be best if you’re filming moving animals, like a dog on a hike for example? I have the Hohem M6. Thanks so much

Zdenka, thank you for the tutorial! Are these modes only found in the gimbal's app or can I simply use my native camera app to achieve these shot techniques? I have an old LG K40 and I'm searching for a gimbal that doesn't force me to download and use their app. Thank you.
The latest DJI Osmo, mobile six gimbal, has the ability to use it also with native camera app. The same goes with Hohem gimbals and Zhiyun gimbals

Thank you for your comment. This video is older so I am not 100% sure if this gimbal actually charges the smartphone. Some gimbals have the ability to charge the smart phone others don’t.

Sadly, people are teaching the birds here to be more and more aggressive by feeding them from their hands. so when I show up there in the winter and nobody is around, they are literally attacking me and sometimes flying right into my lens or to my face just to get food… they are not supposed to behave like this

Since my phone gimbal only does a couple of modes without the DJI MIMO app, I've switched to NTSC mode, which gives me 24 fps and 30 fps, so I can do cinematic (If I avoid UK mains lighting) and 30fpt for gimbal comaptibility (I'm on Android). It makes me think about a cheap iPhone on the next phone switch!!
