@@ninakrzyzanskinaturfotografie I got sent the zip-line about 12months ago but never got around to testing it. It really surprised me how fun it was to use and how great the shots came out. I might very well do a dedicated video on the zip-line in the future, I'm curious to see how it would perform with a 360 camera attached so that the framing could be adjusted in post.
It really just boils down to creativity and you don't really need expensive gadgets to capture cinematic B-roll. Thanks for this video, really helps a lot.
That was amazing. It depends on who you’re asking. Someone who knows about shooting footage could probably tell it’s solo but to a random person looks like you had a whole crew. Thank you for this.
I don't have a camera and don't have a good phone for shots, don't have a gimbal, don't have that extension pole, editing skill not very good... But still I try my best to click some cinematic videos that why I really like your video and watch you when I'm free ❤️ Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰
I couldn't think of how you got some of those shots before I watched how you did it. You call it a game changer, I agree! I love how you explain to set up each effect. I learn a lot from watching your channel, so thank you!
For those who are curious, I only saw one brand for the smartphone zipline on Amazon, it's called Wiral and at this time they only have it used for around $350. As for the AI tracking gimbal, I saw quite a few on those, they range from around $89-$250. Hope this helps!
Just finding out that my Samsung has autofocus lock alone was worth watching this video. I have been so frustrated at the phone hunting in and out of focus after I have set up the shot and now that's one more irritation kicked into touch. But there was so much more to learn from just this one video that I immediately subscribed, because I can see that there is so much more to come. Thank you.
Nice work! I’m looking for ways to add more B-Roll and camera movement to my videos, so this was really helpful. My favourite tip was the zip line. That’s “next level.” 😀💯
This video was right up my alley! perfect for my solo hiking/travel channel. I have used many of these shots/angles before (that I have learnt from your past videos, of course) but you just gave me a few other excellent ideas here. Thank you, Steve!
Thank you for doing this - I am preparing a longer travel trip and your hints come in with a perfect timing. Thank you for doing your channel - that definitely helps to improved the videos and photos already ad so in the upcoming travel. Thank you Steve, 🖖for sharing your ideas and experiences.

You explain them in a way that makes sense, including the "artsy" thought process and perspective behind these tips. Thank you good sir!
Thank you for this video. I'm new to making vlogging videos, but after watching your content, it has given me the motivation to keep trying and strive for better results. 🎥💪
It looks like you have a camera man, and a drone. Without watching your tutorial, there is no way I would have guessed that you shot all that footage solo. Well done. Keep up the good work, and thank you for sharing.
Hi Steve, thank you so much for always sharing your knowledge specially for me as a beginner by just using some of the filming techniques of making videos using an iPhone .Indeed a very useful and interesting video.
Fantastic. I am amazed at your final results and was convinced a whole crew with several cameras was obligatory. Clearly not as you prove. This is inspiring - but you also PLAN AHEAD. These clips are never captured " by accident"
Had to keep reminding myself this was shot on a mobile phone. The use of the zip line was brilliant and I only saw the line in shot because you mentioned it,otherwise I’d be thinking of a drone shot. Gotta to go and try some of these myself. Thanks again for a very educational and inspiring video
That rock mate!!! is about the creativity and flow you impart in to your craft, nobody have imagined that was solo work , looks like at least 2 man crew with a drone!!! , thanks for sharing and inspiring all of us who are interested or do video work of any sort. your are a TOUR DE FORCE!!!!
To be honest, after I watched the tutorial... Yes, it is a solo project... But if I just watch without "How it is made"... I think this is a crew project! P.S.: I love the sound and the LUT packs and the overall result does inspire me to do more adventure clip projects!
Loved it Steve. Did not feel like it was shot solo at all. The only clue was seeing some of the rope in the shot. But I think I only noticed it since you pointed it our. Very much enjoyed the tips.
Very useful tips for shots as well as how they can go together. I love the mix and it definitely kept me interested. I can't really answer the question about solo/camera man ... I watch several adventure creators shooting by themselves and always enjoy and then I think about how much work and backtracking they did to get themselves and vehicles etc. into the footage. But while I am watching, if the creator is good, I never think about it :) ... same with this. I knew you were shooting solo but I got intrigued with the sequence.
i’m preparing to travel alone and I knew it would be difficult to documenting myself. i learned more skills in this video. Wish i could use more footage on my travels.
Wow! Thanks for the amazing tips on the camera work. I have been using Epidemic sound for a couple years now, and I never knew about the thing you showed where you can sample a good part and it will find you similar sounding stuff. Very much appreciated!
Same here I never knew that was a thing? game changer for me. I have no idea how many hours I spend trying to find bits of songs that are similar cannot believe I didn't know this. I agree the tips on camera work on this video are the best on any of Steve's videos so far IMHO (and they are all fantastic tbh)

Another great video! I really found your ideas great and inspiring. I know I get concerned that I don’t have all the latest and greatest equipment, but you once again show with a few tools - even just your smartphone - and some creativity you can create great videos. In the final film, if I hadn’t known you filmed it by yourself I would have thought you had another person filming you. Thanks again for the great video tutorials.
I can underline all of your tips. I also use the Wiral lite flying cam, whenever possible, although it is sometimes a pain in the ass to set everything up, if you are traveling alone... Your location for this demo was ideal, because so secluded with nearly no other tourist... But imagine the normal situation, where it is maybe a risk, leaving the 1200$+ iPhone behind you to walk away 20 meters... Good luck 😬🤪
Hey @WasmitReisen, I agree, The Wiral Lite flying cam can be a fantastic tool, although it can sometimes be a bit cumbersome to set up, especially when traveling alone. Location choice is key with all of these shots, this location was perfect for demonstration purposes but capturing solo Broll in the city (or any built up areas) is much more challenging. Personally, I would avoid leaving camera gear unattended altogether in busy locations and focus on shots using an extension pole combined with cutaway shots. This would allow you to capture both shots of yourself and your location but still keep all your equipment safe. Thanks for watching.

I just chromecasted this to my TV and my hubby watched (not a videographer) just said "this bloke makes it look easy" and I said "but it is, he shows you how and if you follow what he says and know how to edit... it is easy". Thanks Steve, I'm going to go look to see if you've created a colour grading tut, if you don't have one would you consider doing this in future?
Bravo. You really nailed it! I would add a couple of other ideas...First, you mentioned that zip line method as opposed to a drone. A drone can do what you want, but then you need an operator. But the biggest drawback of a drone is precise repeatability. The zip line can be repeated over and over in case one of your takes didn't work out right. The other thing is when shooting a sequence like this, pay attention to the time of day. If your story involves a long time frame, then it is OK to let the sun set on it. But if the story involves a strict time frame, you either need to get it done quickly or come back another day to keep the lighting consistent. Otherwise, I learned a lot and you helped me. Good job.
Another BIG reason to use a string line is that many locations have strict anti-drone rules. And many other locations require you to apply for a permit, pay a substantial fee, wait for perhaps weeks only to be denied the permit anyways (and you won't get your money back).
There are som fancy gadgets in this video for sure, but still - the most important thing is the eye for when and where to do what. And of course edit it together nicely.
To get higher and lower shots, I bring a tripod, mini tripod, and also a bracket with a strap for attaching a camera to trees. I bring 2 cameras so I can film 2 angles at once.
