Taste Polynesia: Cooking with Hot Rocks
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- Come to the Samoan Village where our good friend, Fune, preps his outdoor kitchen. Then see Executive Chef Felix Tai stop by to try out his famous “hot rock sauce,” which he makes by pouring freshly squeezed coconut milk and brown sugar directly onto glowing hot stones pulled from a roaring fire. Chef Felix then takes a turn cooking with this unique stove, searing fresh Kona kampachi over the red-hot rocks before adding his own twist to Fune’s sweet and earthy sauce with a blend of South-East Asian herbs and spices.

I LEFT MY HEART IN PARADISE SAMOA.💚love our Samoan umu, faaausi, and fai 'fee. Love U guys 💚🌱🪴🌲🌳🌴🌵🌾🌿☘🍀🍁🍂🍃🌱
Bro Polynesian humor is great that laxative joke was golden
Lol,the contrast & banter between these two..I couldn't help but laugh..I guess that's what to expect with Fune being funny mean to the guy 😂
Thank you so much for these. It's easy in this way of the world to forget differing culture and getting swallowed up in technology. I always find these videos to be educational and a treat. Thank you again for bolstering my interest and uptmot respect for the Samoan way.
Beautiful fish, beautiful chef, beautiful everything 🤣🤣🤣
When I was younger, my father used to wake me up very early in the morning on Sundays to get the umu ready. I was more of like a helper, while my uncles and older cousins were doing everything. Still remember peeling the fa’i, scraping the taro, tearing the husks off coconuts and grating them, heating the rocks, get sasa with the supelu… Miss those days 😂
When Felix tossed the skin that way, Fune was probably like, "What kind of a Samoan are you anyway?"
I love these kinds of videos. Seeing cultural practices on display for educational purposes is just so fun!
I love it. You guys are so funny! You both would make a perfect comedy act for a cooking show. I wish to see more of this type of video.
Glad you guys are back! More coconut videos if you have the time 🤩
Not gonna lie. Your humor steals the show. Absolutely love it. This video made my day. 🤙
Absolutely, something like Laurel and Hardy if u know what i mean
Your videos Takes me back to childhood. Because these lifestyle was my dream. But I now realize that my Heart still Want it.

That man lives with nature & he provides for his family. He doesn't need professional chef cooked bs!
I love how my pacific island Family do prepare food❤.

Like a laxative😂😂😂❤❤❤
Can I say cooking skills!!
Just came across this. Awesome job Chris!!!!
Beautiful chef🤣🤣🤣
"You don't use the skin? What a waste".
I know it's probably part of the act, but it does show the difference between a man who has been out fishing and knows how much work it is and wants to make the most of everything he got, vs a man who calls a supplier and gets a box of fish delivered.
In the west we live in the pure luxury that we van afford to choose only the "best bits" of animal to eat. Remember the privilege you have and enjoy it.
Fish skin is so good though! A shame it's not eaten more in the West
My mom loves the fish skin! We're not Samoan though, she's white.
He looked at the chef like what you me throw the skin away lol
Uce was pissin Felix off 😅
I know my Next destination on hollydays
Cheeeeehooohooooo💪🏾🇼🇸🇦🇸🇹🇴💯🥥🔥👌🏾
So just as we were watching Fune mastefully show us traditional Samoan sauce, Felix barges in with a bunch of fusion ingredients so he can promote himself. Disrespectful.
Love it
What happened to the previous dude? Forgot his name but he was on a Ted talk! Is he still at the center?? Would love to see him in person if he's still there.
I wanna visit again one day. Is Kap stlil there?
12:14 he's a good actor 🤣
😮 in Malay culture we do the right thing like this with coconut we call kukur kelapa
beautiful
Ruined at 4:26 it did not need him to come in and start repeating stuff, asking pointless questions, and making things tense. Butt out. Fune is the star.
God provides.
Should play some authentic Samoan music
The Spanish guitar really messes with the immersion😂
I went there in 2018
When I visited Oahu there were chickens everywhere.
And dirty messy everywhere
7:50 He really wanted to eat the skin.
Ever wondered searching ‘samoan mukbang’??😂
WOOF!
who better, kap or fune
😎😎
Wrong music for a Samoan cooking I think but enjoyed the video overall.
A lot of waste 😂😂😂 se man ai Uma le ia ga 😂😂❤️🇼🇸🇦🇸
Palagi Boi!
coconut tv dude
How in the world did you make that coconut milk,🤔
he got the coconut meat out
then grabbed the fibers of the coconut and made a bundle then put the stuff inside and folded it over and squeezed it
@@tazallordofpog5559 that's it just squeeze the coconut meat bits?
The fibers filter the coconut bits from the milk, just squeeze the bits and milk comes out
@@mustafanunn8435 seems it works similarly to cheese cloth
@@Nollis ooh ok
ooooo?
First
Damn Kap looks like hell now
What's with the cringe Mexican theme song?
UNSANITARY! lol
nuh, straight off the fire, more sanitary than mcdonalds with those midnight cockroaches on the buns.
Builds a great immune system
On God I will never trust to eat a fish from anywhere of Hawaii... Whyyyyyy??? because they throw the dead people's Ashes in the Ocean 🪸...it's a no no hell no from me
I can see the tension lol
Can you smell what the rock is cooking?
The is the chef? Embarrassing 🤣
