The drummer is my cousin Joe Travers and he plays in a band with Mike Keneally and Bryan Beller!!!! They are all the best of the best musicians!!! Joe Satriani can’t ask for a better backing band EVER!!!!
Totally agree ..this back up band rocks..had the privilege of seeing them live here in Perth Aust just a couple of weeks ago.....an amazing show and this song was a highlight.....the drummer did the most amazing solo as a kind of intro to the second set....brought the crowd to their feet.....
Mike Keneally is the most unhailed musician ever. Only guy I’ve seen live play keyboards and guitar at the same time! Mind you, you have to be special to accompany The God JS !
This song is ingrained into my soul. It's as if God himself handed this gift down from the heavens to Joe, to pass along to us. Might just be the best he's ever done, and there are so many great ones. I absolutely love Surfing with the Alien, The Extremist, Flying in a Blue Dream, etc., but What Happens Next is my all time favorite record from him so far. It is simply a jewel, to be treasured. One of those once in a decade ( or more ) type of records. Thank you so much, Joe. Excellent songs, ALL..........
He has so MANY of my "Favorite Song (S).....as a kid i picked up the guitar for a few years--just as, "Surfing With the Alien" came out. That was a "Magical Time" for Joe S. because he was just really coming on the scene as an innovative Guitar Genius. 💞.
Omg glad someone recorded this i was in the crowd was about 15 or 16 but shit that concert opened my eyes but this song especially when hearing it played the first time is a burned image in my mind good memories if my dad didn't take me i probably wouldn't even know these guys
still rocking the guitar - everytime I listen to Joe satriani songs, the lyrics sing out from his guitar and into my head - it gives a soulful meaning words still can't express. Blessed to be an audience to him Live in Mumbai May 13, 2005
Love this song loved the studio version I love this song live it is frigging awesomely cool it rock's thanks for this fantastic video love you Joe.!!!! 😊👌💕👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Jeff like playing drums too. I bet he also loves rocking the fan base with his "right bunch of fellows" (B.T.O. ref😁) I love the tune. I referred to you/Joe for awesomeness without lyrics. Alyona ____ with a tune called "Through the Milky Way" or "Across the...". Both hands hammering on, maybe sustaining and/or pulling off . Way cool phrasing and creativity by a young person that likely doesn't care lawn sprinkler beats of the Lip Flop genre. ROCK ON JOE & TEAM!
So great, this song and his performance heard it yesterday live. Your video is really great. I should have known by now that Satriani always plays on the left side of the stage, before i got my seats on the right...
that guy on the right with the fedora i think his name is mike keneally but holy shit he is so amazing, just plays the keyboard and guitar like a magician
And people wonder who is the best gutair player on the planet, well wonder no more because u can hear in Joes perfect tone, an the precious of his fretboard work! With out a doubt the best player on the planet!
I don't recognise any bit of Santana but I understand what you say. But though it's a very melodic melody, there is nothing about Latin American music style as Carlos Santana always uses. Also the way Joe plays each note in this or any music it's a completely different approach. Sorry to talk about details I guess it's my musician guitarist mind speaking too much. Anyway its just my opinion guys. ;)
Joe Perry I’m agree with you, but if you turn the wha pedal half way down, it will sound like Santana’s most solo. But, as you said, Satch is another approach from other planet 🤘🏽👽🎸 👏🏽🇻🇪
I agree the beginning does sound a little Santana like. It's cause of the melodic minor scale the melody is based on and the chord progression for that part. If it was played with a Latin groove it really would sound like Carlos
Haha! Coldplay might sue him for this. The verse sounded like their song, Viva La Vida..... "I used to rule the world..." Just kidding.... But this is a very cool song. I Liked it.

Absolutely agreed there bud
There’s no match to Satch, he’s the reason I first picked up the guitar. His music and charisma reach deep into the soul. Just amazing!
I was in the second row for this gig. I will cherish the memory :-)
My fave from the what happens next album 😍😍
Joe is still the same,
And thanks for sharing such an experience
This is so classic Joe. What a great song..
Mike Keneally is the most unhailed musician ever. Only guy I’ve seen live play keyboards and guitar at the same time! Mind you, you have to be special to accompany The God JS !
His guitar solos/improvs during this set were fucking godlike as well.
Couldn’t have said it better. Mike is a virtuoso himself, often forgotten.
I also do the same for our band (out of necessity) but I'd never dare to compare with Mike. He and Tony MacAlpine are the real deal.

Love this new tune...I definitely here some Carlos in this. Amazing.
Glad I'm not the only one who caught that. Love it.
he's so reserved on the record. the whammy solo on this comes about of no where and wakes you up.....but its even better and more alive here.
A nice touch of Carlos Santana here. Just wait until you see it live for the full experience.
God bless Joe...

I've seen it live in Groeningen, Netherlands, he is such an inspiration, love your music, joe....
Awesome. Thanks for posting
Wonderful!!!! Thank you for sharing high quality of my new fav-fav-song by the master ;-)
I feel happy for listening this, great Joe!

Was awesome to see this live Jan 30 2018!
Love how Joe can really work out a theme that fits the title.
love this new song. New album is awesome from beginning to end. Certainly one of his best album of all time and the best album over the decade.
No rest for the wicked!
Joe Rocks... Thanks for uploading man :)
Absolutely our world 💋🍁💥💙
So great, this song and his performance heard it yesterday live. Your video is really great. I should have known by now that Satriani always plays on the left side of the stage, before i got my seats on the right...
2:09 is the main reason I came here. I love that part.
I heard this song on the radio and now i'm addict to it.
my song to I LOVE beautiful and strong!!!!
Умничка ты наша на Все Впемена !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me encanta!! Grande Satriani!!! 😍🎸🤘
that guy on the right with the fedora i think his name is mike keneally but holy shit he is so amazing, just plays the keyboard and guitar like a magician
Joe ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your camera is better than my eyes...
Freaking awesome man!
Hasn't done anything good since the 90's
God i wish i was in that crowd, man joe is the best!
I really missed out not seeing Joe during this period after SuperNova. He was at his peak. The new direction blows.
I WAS THERE ^^
Joe travers make the sound much "thicker" than before.
Gefällt mir 👍
The best never rest
why is it that much better live ?
he should recorded it that way, so better than the CD !
that is their genius, there are many tracks played better live :) for instance made of tears, ceremony, circles, cool #9 etc ;p
The master is way overcompressed . And then they clipped it on the CD, esp. this piece. Such a shame.
I agree, the CD sounds like crap, but the songs really shine live... (the album version Cool #9 is much better than live though, as Ice Nine)
tx ,genial.
A fucking guitar genious! Por siempre, ni se le nota la edad a Satch.
saludos

The part where he reaches high sound with that Floyd Rose is my favorite when he plays
Doesn’t have a Floyd Rose. Plays JS Ibanez with Edge Tremolo.
Orig FR better IMO
chris deckard it is a licensed Floyd rose floating tremolo called the edge by ibanez. There was no need for you to "correct" him.
how are you Lloyd
Hey it is the bass player from The Aristocrats!
Awesome song😍 Joe sat knows how to make a super composition out of just a few notes. Looks like Joe's guitar is tuned half a step down !? 😀
What guitar is Kenneally playing? Is it a Strandberg? Hard to tell since there's no name on the headstock. ;)
It is indeed a Strandberg. The body shape is pretty distinctive.
I was here!
ah drop db tuneing amazing GRR
Is it me, or this song sounds like Carlos Santana? May be a little wha at the intro.
There's a lot of Santana DNA in Joe's playing, he's said so himself.
I don't recognise any bit of Santana but I understand what you say. But though it's a very melodic melody, there is nothing about Latin American music style as Carlos Santana always uses. coolest guy ever
Wait so, what’s goin’ on with Chickenfoot?
Настоящий,музыкант-виртуоз,к,гитаре,относится,как,к,другу,поэтому,блестяще,получается.
Bon khop mai.
I can see this song used in a movie like Sleeping With The Enemy.
Satriani is the Hank Marvin of the modern guitar world
as good as dvd.....
Джой остановись!!!! Планета за тобой не успевает!!!!
i was there
Getting some Marty Friedman vibes from this, sounds delicious
The old boy in the background is earning his salt
Petruci on the bass
I discovered this great artist seeing a vid of Elon Musk and his Falcon Eavy, SpaceX. Starman
Nalh ka ti vak lo,ten words ang te khan lung a kuai mah mah zawk ka ti haha...
relax
Jump to 1.35 - miss all the chatter...
Haha! Coldplay might sue him for this. The verse sounded like their song, Viva La Vida..... "I used to rule the world..." Just kidding.... But this is a very cool song. I Liked it.
coldplay wishes they could make music like this
Players that don't know how to groove
Satriani has become such a tedious player same formula years and years now
Noizze...not more..but sounds ok for beginners..not a blues man just a show off
sry, but he is overrated
