showman. never turns it off. He is branding himself like nobodys business. Solid backbeats and tons of energy - this is how one goes to WORK as a drummer. Well done.
Nabster in nashville
Steve Nabi yeah but it’s cringey and doesn’t communicate as genuine at all. 🤷♂️
This guy not only plays the groove...he feels the groove.......
This guy is a fantastic teacher. Lots of guests talk about what their teaching as though everyone already knows how to do it but this guy makes it so easily understandable. Also he totally blew my mind when he pointed out drumeo stands for drum education online.
This lesson is my online Bible of drumming. I'm blown away...
There's a lot of great drumming out there with a lot of different approaches , but it's easy to see why Rich has been successful in Nashville, he gives them what they need.
He lays down a solid groove with great time, tasty hi hat work and plays fills that don't disturb the groove. He plays these "money beats" with the kind of energy that drive a band, playing just what the song needs. Great attitude to bring to any gig you might be playing.
His drums sound amazing. So many drummers forget the importance of what he’s teaching. Just because it sounds simple doesn’t mean it’s easy. Every note is played with conviction. It’s being able to create a groove that not only sounds and feels great but making it move solidly. It’s about providing for the song, never over doing it. No over the top drum fills, no getting in the way. Just layin’ it down the way it should be! Richmond is a real inspiration.
Hands down.. He's a great teacher / Coach.... Rich Redmond makes complex things so easy to understand. Not just with money beats, but complex latin stuff.. I've understood Mozambique rhythm in few minutes of his teaching.
I have a new favorite drummer.

I love his gesture.... I wanna to be like him....!!! .. they way he carries all drum sets...
Lol "Whatdya mean dynamics? I'm playing as loud as I can!"
Better than getting replaced by Steven Slate Drums ;)
Wow, every beat was perfect for the song...I followed each measure and it kept getting more interesting. Play that song over and over. Learn a lot!
Let me tell you something about Rich Redmond. He's a MONSTER! I attended a clinic of his 19 YEARS AGO when he was a student at North Texas, and he was a MONSTER back then! In fact, he was the main drummer for the One O'clock Lab band (Google it if you're not familiar). Let me tell you, his current gig is so beneath his full ability it's unreal. But that's what I love most about him. He plays for the SONG, not his EGO. Sure, he gets a nice paycheck as well, but he was doing the same thing for a good decade before he even got noticed. Thank you for this lesson!!
+Todd Sheffield Hey Todd! Thanks brother!!
Great drum lesson. So many drummers fail to take heed to what he's teaching. For you guys who want to be a working musician in the studio or live...listen to what Rich is saying.
This guys energy and feel on the drums is infectious….love it
I'm a huge fan of Rich Redmond.
Dude is an amazing musician. Love it! And he plays for a great artist, Jason Aldean, from my state here in Georgia.
Good stuff...wasnt a fan of him at first but now i am! Hes legit!!!
I love all the haters on here! Rich is the of the most solid drummers out there! makes me wonder how much money these haters make drumming cause im sure with Richs talent he can own all you that are hating on him lol... Keep up the great music brotha!
Haters are just jealous because they will never be where hes at. Rich,in my opinion is one of the best drummers in Nashville today
I’ll tell you what. Along with the handout, this lesson is one of their best. For me, it’s a get real moment especially for the ostinatos and developing some real independence and facility. I think very few drummers can actually do all of this and really nail it. Not to mention being able to then go back and swing it. Nice job, DRUMEO!
How lucky Jason Aldean found this man for real.
I used to be one of those drummers that tried to show my ability every time I had the chance... but Really, this is the right take on playing drums. Play your part, make the band and audience happy, and get payed.
henry diaz and believe me, this man is getting paid.
His hi-hat colors and kick drum patterns are off the charts
Practicing for 2 years, that instinctual little touch on the high hat on 29:20-29:23 will motivate me for another year
Rich Redmond = $$$$$ in the drummer bank!
Real talk, what he talks about in this entire video lesson needs to be taken to heart for every serious drummer trying to improve and grow themselves. 💪🔥💯😎🙌🥓
So much talent
I just realized he plays to the full mix of the songs, not to drumless versions. You (almost) never notice it, that's how friggin' accurate his playing is... a true pro indeed.
Rich Redmond is one of many drumming hero's I look to for many drumming things
Man, The sound on that snare!
Freaking awesome. This guy is the reason I moved to Nashville. Groove for days!!
oh wow. Just learned some super simple stuff I just never thought about. VERY COOL. Easy ways to mix it up
Some of the most simple grooves comes with the best feeling. You can tell he enjoys what he plays.
So very powerful! Love that kind of drummers that have that impact how to play simple, but at the same time sounds so powerful that you are touched and you could listen all the time. Perfection! It is not money beat. It is Joy beat, when you practice, have live show etc..
this guys energy is just awsome....great video guys
+Brandon Kain He's got a great attitude too, seems like a very nice guy.
Rich, Thanks for the lesson. I learned a lot. Great stuff.
All music starts with a great drummer ... and this guy is SO SOLID ...great Inspiration to all
Rich makes it entertaining as well... Killer
Rich is a big influence to me!! thanks !!!!
He might be playing some "simple" beats but they sound so damn good! THAT'S the key!
I don't think there is anything "simple" about what he is doing. He just sounds fantastic, if it was that easy we would all sound like that.
I do the same faces when I play and I am not ashamed of doing so.
Awesome energy.
Great drummer Great Human Being Much love Rich !
Love this guy!!!
Rich Redmond inspires me because I play drums just like him
He is the greatest player
Thanks
I love all of the things you guys are doing, thank you so much for helping all new and experienced drummers alike. I feel that there is always something to learn here. And you don't just tell people how to play. You motivate us, you help us and always help us with something new. I don't know where I would be today without drumeo (probably not a good drummer lol). Thanks for everything guys. Keep up all the amazing work. :-)
Loved it! Amazing lesson! Fast, Quick, FULL of energy! I don't listen to country but I might start. The simplicity in these beats just amaze me! This drummer just inspires me just like many, many other drummers! @drumeo
such energic and fun person he is. he must be actually really good with kids. music need to be taught to children by people like him. awesome.
gREAT GREAT LESSON! i LOVE HOW SOLID HIS DRUMS SOUND!!!!
Rich is a master drummer with a very unique pocket. Whoever doesn't see that is a damn fool
whenever someone tells me im out of time, i tell them its a unique pocket.
this is one my favourite videos : that guy is really great !
I Love these sounds and it's great that you are taking the time to share them . And leaving the drum beats chart .♥🥁
he looks crazy and kinda cool playing. full of energy! playing what the song needs and asks. thats awesome !
Best lesson so far! Rich is a funny guy!!!
He's right, country western is like the new rock and roll. The drum sound and performance is interchangable
Yes! I Love Rich.
The beats of this man are heavy!
Redmond is a master player and performer. It''s funny to me how other drummers bash him on facial expressions and the way he hits the drums. If he didn't play with that same intensity the Jason Aldean band would be another average country rock band. his intensity with simple beats is what other musicians look for in a drummer. Not show off selfish players with lots of licks and no dynamics or groove. Just my 2 cents.
peter yaskovic totally agree Peter you're absolutely right my friend I know Rich very well and is it awesome individual as well as a drummer and will do anything for anyone, people are just jealous of how good he can make simple sound LOL thanks my friend
peter yaskovic you are exactly right. From a distance the crowd sees a guy really putting it all out there and I think that is great showmanship even if it is unintentional. Such a solid player.
Oh Man! So simple but so intense!!!!
"You don't want to steal anyone's thunder, but here are 10 different ways to steal their thunder."
anyone know if the sheet music for Jason Aldean - gonna know we were here is anywhere to download??
thanks!
Enjoyable and informative insight as cool as the clinician . Thanks
Great Player Great Guy! Love Rich really really good dude
Gonna watch this!
First lesson Free Stroke....then watch this video every and let it sink into your subconscious and slowly imitate. Nothing wrong with that!
Rich is the man! Didn't used to be into country music. but he made it very approachable and "likeable" especially from a "drummers perspective."
Rich is a great Person and Musician... kids need to start looking up to this guy! If your a parent trying to raise a young drummer and they like rock or country kind of stuff... this is the guy you need to put in front of them. sorta like a role model.
best lesson ever
Rich has got the goods
Brother is KILLIN IT with these fucking chops, and these faces are true fuxking pleasure haha
anyone know if the sheet music for Jason Aldean - gonna know we were here is anywhere to download??
this is great stuff
Like the tip on using different parts of the stick to create accents.
To all the idiots that say “he’s playing simple” you’re not seeing the point... he’s a perfect example of what a true successful and working musician is in the music business. He plays for the song... he has discipline... he’s an amazing performer and has so much energy when he plays live.. he brings so many things to the table as musician and he’s a great fuckin player..he also makes his grooves sound and feel so great... nothing is too simple
That's why the best drummers in the world are found in Jazz and metal music.
Exactly. Less is more when it comes to being a pro.
Most music isn't cacophony, unless it's metal. Most music is symphony; composed, poetic, dynamic, melodic.
Keep in mind. Whenever you think something is simple enough that you don't need to study it, thats actually something you should study the most.
DEEP POCKET and TASTEFUL PLAYING
Cool vid ! thanks Drumeo & Rich!
Get Dave Langguth on ! Canadian drummer (use to play for Nelly furtado) Now he's with Kim Mitchell. Best rock drummer Ive ever seen.
Starting from 3:24, that's how a rock ride cymbal must be played, man!! 🤩
That's one gooooood sounding snare drum :'O
great great groove man
Well done Rich and DRUMEO.
This is a very approachable introductory method for young drummers to learn ostinato patterns and basic 4 limb independence.
After this try moving on to books including Gary Chester’s “New Breed”, Gavin Harrison’s “Rhythmic” series, and Marco Minnemann’s “Extreme Interdependence” to name a few.
It's amazing how well these beats sound when played correct. It's super important to follow his suggestions of the different variations we can play on the hats. It makes such a difference in my sound. Thanks for video.
That Snare sounds soooooooooo good
I saw him live in New York in Rome so that was cool
Any advice on getting my paradidles down?
This dude drum faces are on point. haha!!
Does Rich ever hit the center of the snare drum when playing the backbeat?
37:44 niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
How does he do that
Damn! That dude can drum.
Cant stop watchind that second in loops!!!!!! 55:57
Yes that snare sounds sweet.
Gotta love all those funny faces even when not playing just counting beats...
Met Rich in Knoxville at a clinic couple years back. This dude just gets it. They call him, Tully Kennedy, Kurt Allison, all musicians in Jason Aldeans band, the three kings of Nashville. Arguably the three most wanted musicians in the industry. I try and listen to everything they have to say cause... Well look where they are now
Sick drummer
Nothing against crazy technicality and speed but at the end of the day this is the way you enjoy playing your drums the most. Very solid, powerful, groovy and tight playing! What a phenomenal drummer.
Btw, is it DW 14x5.5 Collector's Series Maple Snare Drum? Sounds amazing!
snare remo sign is driving me crazy :D
I like this dude! Watching Andean videos made me look him up. These are very useful lessons. Drumeo is the shit! And Dave- put out some more of YOUR drum solos!
Aldean videos! Damn Apple autocorrect sucks!
Does anybody know what ride cymbal is he playing? It sounds great!
Phil Dolfini yes 21 hhx
@scott norton LOL…..HHX WHAT??? You do realize there are tons of models in the HHX line right? This one appears to be a 21” HHX Groove ride
Timing is so good
If I were a drum set this is how I would want to be played
asking you guys in the comments. is there a good lesson already out there where they go through the sitting position and seat height and such for the kick drum foot to be comfortable and all that jazz? just wondering, i love the vids but there are so many out there to go through and i am having problems playing fast (hardcore punk, dbeat and those fast one kick pedal things) without it feeling a bit "iffy" and i'm not certain what it is. sometimes i try to put the chair further away from the kit and i can believe that i solved the issue but then next session that does not feel perfect and i move it again.
+najtrows Jared does one on drum setup.
Anyone know what snare is he using? Sounds amazing!
It's either his signature DW Collectors Series 5x14 Maple or his Black Beauty 5x14
This guy knows how to groooooooooove!
🤘👽🤘Cool!!#
One of the best drummers i've ever heard .
