    They take low-frequency signals (in this case his triggered kick) and transform them into vibration through a 1000W amp. When used with in-ears, they complete the experience of a full range of sounds without having to have giant subs nearby to shake your body. The immediate feedback helps you sink into the groove a little more precisely. They make very little sound...sort of like a quiet snort, so they're great on stage.

    Rich-Love these videos man! Drum geeks like myself love to see all the gear used on tour, especially those awesome DW's!
    So the pedal your using to turn on and off the clicks, what is that? I am running a Mac with Ableton but would like to start/stop the clicks and loops with my feet rather than my hands. Would like to see a video on the Buttkicker set-up on how you run that, is it through a mixer or the Buttkicker receiver they sell.

    It's nice to see drummers have fun. Yeah, it's cool to be technical and all but... there isn't as much energy and joy in the vibe when it's simple. Simpler = more room for whatever! At least, that's my point of view. ^-^

    Hey Rich. I saw that you use the drumearz IEM. I'm looking to get some and I was wondering, would you recommend the 1x model? Pretty much all I'm doing is playing with my church band and I'm not the biggest fan of the overhead closed ear headphones that we use. So would you recommend them?

    I don't buy into the DW stuff about the grains of the wood going this way and that. Any round wooden cylinder will sound good if it is well made. John Good is a marketing guy.

    Rich -- i just listened to your Podcast from "I'd hit that". Seriously great read on so many levels.Can you explain how you use the Click trigger (BOSS brand?). I am guessing you get a click setting to kick off some / all songs (silently only in your in-ear mix) ? I am a huge believer on getting the right tempo to kick off & i need something a little bit more "stealthy". i am getting tempo settings for every tune i start in 1 horn band that is 70% tower of power stuff. THX. no...YOU rock.

    I believe the 'other drum company' was sonor and why is it that most of sonors artists have joined DW, Thomas Lang, Derek Roddy, they've all left sonor and joined DW, why?

    • @layman1194
      @layman1194 8 років тому

      +Tom Weaver WITH RESPECT, I SAY IDIOTS...SONOR DRUMS ARE THE BEST DRUMS MADE AND YES I OWN THREE DW COLLECTORS KITS....HOWEVER, SONOR IS WHERE ITS AT IN MY UNPROFESSIONAL OPINION...I DO HEAR THAT SONOR IS HARD TO GET AN ENDORSEMENT FROM THO.....PROBABLY NOT FOR THIS GUY THO....OR MANY LIKE HIM....

    • @davidkey6623
      @davidkey6623 8 років тому

      +Tom Weaver I would think its not about the drums with these guys, its probably just connivence, most of these guys live in LA or nashville, both places that are close to the factory (LA) or a drum shop that they can easily distribute the stuff to, for nashville itd be forks or MDS. Where as sonor is in a totally different company and its probably harder to get the stuff they want at the time they want it. Both are good companies though. Just my opinion...

      David Key The DW factory is NOT in Los Angeles. It’s in Oxnard. Ventura County (just North of LA County, in the “805” area code). Yes, it’s close to Los Angeles, maybe 60 miles North, but to those of us that live in the Ventura area, equating us to Los Angeles is kinda insulting. Los Angeles sucks ass. We even have our own Beverly Hills (maybe even wealthier!) in Montecito, though it may be Santa Barbara County, but very close to where I live. Honestly, though, Oxnard sucks ass. Full of gang crime. Not African-American gangs, but Mexicans, and politicians in our state try and tell us it’s good for millions more to pour in illegally. But that’s another issue. Point is, if you ever visit the DW factory, be careful where you go!

    Trick Drums invented the three position snare throw off. It's not unique to DW. Nice kit though.

  • @VeryLargeRat
    @VeryLargeRat 11 років тому

    actually, it's like a guitar player using a midi pickup. It doesn't take the sound of the drum upon each hit, it sense the vibration and sends a signal through a processor to get a sound out. But it isn't the sound you're making each hit.
    Pro drummers using triggers usually isn't their choice. Rich clearly doesn't need them, it's for the front house so they can get that sound that the drunk audience is gonna love.

  • @michaelmumau1
    @michaelmumau1 11 років тому +1

    Those aren't triggers. They're just microphones.

    @dalbyonemanband Neil would say(as he has said in previous interviews) that the job of a drummer is to entertain. Since I wasn't entertained, I think he'd be ok with that. Also, Neil is not old. He can outplay this clown like millions of other drummers any day of the week. Rich's drumming sound old after 2 minutes. Just a basher that's all ...
