I played scout for about a week and when I switched to gunner with his "GOOD" hook - I almost died how slow it was. but in general the funniest experience was when I tried to play other games after a month in DRG - I tried to play Subnatica, I constantly pressed F when it got dark (and there is a lot of that)
Keep in mind that word "strategically". Just moving is not enough, if you're running around like a chicken without its head you'll get killed just as fast or even faster than someone who's just turtleing up in one spot. You want to kite the swarm, that means trying to space yourself away from the bugs while constantly dealing damage to them. Also for the love of Karl pay attention to where you're going. Look out for holes, hazards and tight spaces where the bugs can easily box you in.
Me guilty of simply dropping ded not knowing where to go AT ALL 😂 I know a player how uses the short time they jumped to look at the scanner map. I have no idea how they could read the map when it takes like half a second to show up when the time in the air is just around 1 second.
Except you don't need to constantly stay on the move if you're good enough. I often fuck around with randos in H5 and we do just fine. And swarms NEVER get bigger. Ambient spawns on Point Extraction do get bigger and more frequent with time and that's it.
Let me just say one thing. With all these tips on how to not die and how to be a better dwarf. There’s one thing everyone overlooks. For the love of god, just have a bit of fun. Just jump into bug filled areas with grenades and everything to lose!
I think a good way to stay moving is to immediately have your driller terraform areas to move around in, especially when it comes to refining, elimination, and point extraction. Especially on the new generation being biome based. You're really not wrong when it comes to moving fast not just idly. Nitra can either be plentiful or you'll be learning how it feels to hear swarm music with just your drills left.
*has the 10KM look* don't remind me. I will god dam die to get even a unit of nitra. Just so my frost engine keeps freezing. (Both for keeping beer cold and for keeping bugs on ice)
This is so true, I did an elite deep dive where I had 2 or 3 downs and 22 revives for the whole thing, and was constantly last alive just running around until I could clear enough to rez people, also field medic and dash helped a lot
These tips are great for haz 4 but they’re super awesome for haz 5, I’ve been primarily doing haz 4 solos ever since I started the game and I think it’s probably the best way to learn and get better as a new player
another tip: prioritize mining for nitra if it's a mission you're certain you can blaze through(an egg hunt that requires 4 eggs, for example), then don't worry about it too much but for missions like point extraction, refining, sabotage or even mining expeditions; mining at least 80 nitra should be your main priority and just in case things go south, you can mine an extra 80 for an extra resupp
In my games we packrat the crap out of nitra. Mostly because I will god dam need it by the next drop. (Drill main no overclocked collected for my own class like wtf game.)
I highly reccomend playing haunted cave missions to get into the "Always be sprinting" mentality, and unlike shield distruption missions teaching you to be careful so you don't get hit a ton, haunted cave is actually fun
my last few games have been entire lobbies of people who refuse to talk, even to "r" or "can i get an extra resup?". Like NO ONE has been communicating and it makes me so sad
If ur a driller main then you can make a long tunnel someplace then place a c4 I usually use the bigger hole upgrade this way you now have a very safe bunker in seconds now all you do is have an engi fix the floor or make a circle floor yourself as a driller now you are chilling I recommend having 1 team members not in the bunker like a scout main but if you got a team of 4 ppl then you are golden 3 guys sit still and kill most the swarm while the scout keeps getting resources... Oh also if you do have all 4 ppl inside then make an escape tunnel in case of a bulk spawning and coming through ur hole.. the tunnel must be like very close to the end of the wall have someone ping it don't open it until you escape.. while funneling the enemies I recommend you as the driller use the pump to slow the bugs down while the rest just easily kill
Tip for working efficiently for mining ops I've found. Two teams of two, engineer and scout clear out large rooms of minerals where gunner and driller clear out tunnels, that way the team is always progressing, regroup for waves or to depo if needed

A lot of the time I’d learned to not dilly-dally simply because when the objective was complete on haz 4s with ransoms there’s always someone who will never type “r” in chat, so just give em 10 seconds and if you don’t get a “hold on” then just hit the extract button
