- After years of prototypes from Honda and its sister brand Mugen, Big red has finally shown off a bike labelled 2025 CR Electric in Osaka, Japan.
Based on the factory race bike that Trey Canard used in the All Japan championship finale, we take a close up look at the bike you should be able to buy soon.
For a person who rides for enjoyment and loves motocross bikes , this will be the ultimate purchase. I hope it's cheaper than the Stark and lighter in weight , good on you Honda for the option.

I’d rather buy this than stark get it done Honda that way I can build a sick arena cross track in my back yard and ride every single day without pissing off the entire neighborhood lol
These electric bikes are fast....very fast!
Will take racing to a new level! Electric is older the combustible motors. Most don't need noise, they want speed and this will do it. Plus. No restrictions ,...fire, etc.

No chance for hydrogen combustion in dirt bikes. Fuel storage is not space efficient. Not to mention the pressures involved. Also the engine power is way down.

Remember petrol engines were the same in the beginning. Give it time, hydrogen engines are a very new thing. Once it has been refined, i reckon hydrogen has a chancr

for some clarification...
250cc fourstroke at 8000RPM will use 1 cubic metre of air per MINUTE at WOT, assuming 100% VE.
air being 1/5 oxygen requires 2/5 of it to be hydrogen for correct stoich/air fuel ratio.
fudge a few numbers, thats about 300CC of hydrogen for every 700L of air. every MINUTE.
a standard industrial "F" size gas bottle is 7 cubic metres. (i may be thinking of a "G"?)
thats about 21 minutes of runtime from a heavy steel bottle. hydrogen leaks even through steel.
no decanting fuel from a drum. no siphoning it out of your mates tank out in the bush. no carrying a jerrycan of it.
people cant even fill up at a petrol bowser without spilling it everywhere... now make it a cryogenic fluid, or a high pressure gas, thats extremely volatile... you definitely do not want to DAMAGE that bottle, either...
last two lines all relate to batteries as well. screw the electric nonsense. over hyped garbage that will be obsolete in a few years time when everyone comes to their senses. if this society keeps it together for that long. which looks unlikely...
and finally, for its calorific content and the amount consumed in the engine, you end up at about 2/3rds the power of petrol/hydrocarbons.

Gas bikes are obsolete now, after riding my varg I can tell you that they feel so advanced over a gas bike that I don't think Internal combustion will be a thing in motocross soon . I love the sound of a vete full of 450s too but I much prefer riding a better bike

Watching moto-x race with only the sound of whirling electric engines is something I can't beare listening to. We're going to have to mandate each bike has a clothes pin clipped to a playing card, or a coke can stuck in the back tire or something! 🤣🤣
I’ll miss the sound as well but I’ll trade up the loud sound for the ability to ride anywhere. Where I am now, I have to drive 45 minutes to ride my mx bike
What’s going to be interesting with the adoption of EV MX is the education of the technology along the way… Some fundamentally wrong statements / suggestions in this video - hydrogen? sodium? sending children to mines?
I would suggest putting the newspapers down and really reading up on the subject, for example like Hydrogen energy density. It’s an absolute non starter for motocross.
Also worth exploring NMC vs LFP battery chemistry regarding colbalt “issue”. LFP will be a real game changer for Tesla and the like.
Also worth noting last year CATL announced a 500 wh/kg battery. don’t be surprised if you see new Electric MX bikes in 5 years with batteries half the size & weight they are now…
In a all electric mx world, as a professional rider what will make you sign to a team, the different type of cells in a battery the team use lol .. what, the color scheme, or it might be the salary and nothing to do with the bike at all, when they all reach speeds of 100 mph if u still on the bike that long lol

😂You don’t need a petrol powered generator…they sell 3.6kW battery electric/solar generators at Costco now called EcoFlow for less than $2k and 30% off from Fed Gov part of the IRA here in the States. LFP battery chemistry means 10 years of daily use and you’ll still have 80% capacity. Basically a 30 year battery lifespan. Also it would make more sense to get one of their propane generators if you really need it, since it’s cheaper and 1/4 the weight and volume. 90% of the pop lives in the sunbelt. Or just expand the battery generator cheaply with a simple adapter and 48V 200ah batteries. Once your car is fully electric, you realize you can power your house power your motorcycle, everything simple no need for these separate fuels. Which cannot be replenished on site locally w/ Solar and have to be refilled at stations that are also refilled by larger trucks. 3.6kWhs gives me 10 miles a day from the sun in my EV, but could give me at least 65 miles a day on a dirtbike. Using a portable 400watt panel
Commenting about needing gas for a generator is the most pathetic jab at electric bikes , people think they are being smart by saying it because they think people buy these bikes to be "green" . Reality is no dirtbikes give a fuck about riding these to avoid gas usage , they ride them for the superior riding experience so find a better , more intelient way to have a jab at them. Oh and your gas bikes all have electric motors in them by the way

This will be the death of motocross as a popular spectator sport. It's my prediction that spectators would eventually decline by upto 50%. The whole point of motorsport is to engage with the sound of the engine , the rev's and the gear changes e.t.c. Motocross moving towards electric bikes is an absolute tragedy. If the woke people of this world continue to get their way everything will be banned and we will all be forced to live our sports and hobbies through a playstation !!

The new bikes have launch control, traction control, adjustable mapping/ECU tuning, new intake port, new cam profile, updated throttle body diameter, and re-valve for the Showa suspension.
