No mention about the value proposition that Suzuki offers. It’s a great bike for those who are weekend warriors. When some of the other competitors are 35% more expensive, you have to at least mention price. Suzuki makes a good bike, with a good power band curve. I’d rather have that then peaky high rpm that will be harder on engine components.

Previous years Austrian bikes won the shootouts because they had the most horsepower hydraulic clutch etc.
Now kawasaki have the most horsepower, is the most stable bike, reliable with KYB suspension ( much better than WP) and it came forth because MXA decided that suddenly kx250 is a bad turning bike!!!!!

KX has a stiff fork - just because it's kyb doesn't mean the "setting" is desireable. Kawasaki decides what valving combo the bike comes with. Additionally - the chassis plays a big role in felt stiffness - the kx gives more feedback than the yamaha chassis does - in exchange for what I feel is better trust of the stability.
I think if they did a "mod bike" shootout - with say 5k budget - it could be really interesting. Pipe, clamps, suspension and some minor motor work would be about that budget. All the bikes would get a lot closer as the slower ones respond bigger to work than the faster ones.

This is very very false and another scapegoat answer for the other manufacturers. They have posted extended videos, explaining that. Yes there are other bikes that you can add for example, a sprocket to or a pipe, too, or some thing and it can become better, if you ride, you should know better and should know that any bike is great. As long as you have a positive perception of your bike get the set up right and believe that the equipment under you is Good enough to do the job at hand and you are willing to work on your own form and abilities. This is a test for stock 100,000,000% stock, and right off the showroom floor. There is no doubt that the Austrian bikes have more race parts are more reliable and are a better option if you are willing to pay the price tag, which is not very significant difference these days as the other brands have increased their pricing. People need to get over themselves and stop hating on some thing because they don’t like it or can’t afford it.

Glad I watched this. I was on the fence being a life long kawasaki fan. But 20 years later getting back into the woods I’ve been eye balling the ga gas. And now knowing the advantages of the Ktm and their 2 maps vs buying a tuner etc. It seems the ktm is a better one and done for what I need. So I can just ride and enjoy the features without instantly buying mods. Only mod I need is a skid plate and I’m off. Appreciate this content. And super exited to have my first lifetime brand new bike. Wasn’t blessed with hand me down money or an east road to paychecks. So this is a big purchase for me at this point in my life. And I want to make the right choice. So as I sit I’m planning ktm. With gas gas as my choice until this video. Either way I’m good. But I like the few extra mods I get with ktm that would cost a lot to buy afterwards.

Excellent review and tests...I held an AMA 125cc and 250cc Motocross Expert License in the 70's as a 17 and 19 year old boy. All I have ridden since then has been street bikes (and one partial season of AMA Road Race), but in my old age I have decided to get another MX bike as a weekend toy. Doubtful i would race it but sounds like either the Honda or the Husky would be my best choices.

Goes to show differing opinions. I personally think the Suzuki is the best bike all round. Plenty of power and it’s low and medium power is great so you can ride it in any setting or any track. Not sure why they say it has a ‘lack of power’ you can hardly tell unless you’re a pro ringing their neck for every bit of power. Yes, I’d like e-start and I hope they implement it soon but that’s it. Every single bike you have to mess with suspension to make it good for the individual riding. But imo the forks aren’t even half as stiff as they are made out to be and I’m not heavy, I’m only around 170lbs at 5’11. The CRF is a great bike as well. Crazy they are last and second to last, I’d put the zookie first and CRF second. My mate has the KTM and it’s not great imo, I’d have the Suzuki all day compared to his KTM.

Just lowered (leaned) (raised the clip to the 2nd slot) and all of a sudden it was a MONSTER. I was testing on blacktop when it revved, up comes the front wheel!! From an old dog to live lion. Surprised the heck out of me.

I have ALWAYS been a yellow fan, i feel like taking kickers away from all the bikes takes out of some of the "dirtbike" feel. A kicker as a secondary just to know i can is ideal. That being said suzuki definitely needs to add e-start but keep the kicker as back up.

I do see the point of these shootouts but the concept is flawed.
There has only been 1 ktm group bike win a mx championship in the US 250 class over the last 50 years. The Japanese brands are clearly not bad, they’re just less exotic from the factory and that can be seen in the price...
A comparison based on a fixed budget with the remaining money used for upgrades would be amazing to see

Changed oil every 5 rides and oil filter 5 rides, cleaned air filter every ride, multiple tire changes, chain changes, sprocket change and engine still good 6 years later.
