You can see how Thierry was having hard time honestly any rally driver will have to wrestle with car like these it makes you appreciate the technology we live in where gear shift is fast(paddle shifting) ,and handling is so soft
Love it! The video quality and the driving are insane! I am also amazed by the lack of grip of the rear end, it is faster this way?? However it's the most spectacular way! Even if the car looks very predictable, it's so frightening especially in narrow sectors. Massive thanks for the video
@@MrJM540to change gear without the clutch is possible in any manual but much easier with a dog engagement box like this, with no synchromesh. To change up you must slightly lift off the throttle to unload the dogs so you can disengage the gear, then the revs will drop slightly so (hopefully) match the speed for the next gear and slot in, then full throttle again. To change down is the reverse. It’s much easier with completion engines and gearboxes as they tend to have a closer ratios so the engine speed is much closer between gears. Also the engines tend to have much lower rotating mass so can rev up and down much quicker. As I said above, the dog engagement also makes it easier. In reality to change up with a car like this becomes as simple as very quickly lifting partially off the throttle for a split second almost as if your leg twitched, while moving the gear stick firmly to the next gear. You can do it in road cars but it generally takes a lot longer than just changing with the clutch
@@RobbertAlblas Thanks for these videos, they are breathtaking 😳 Maybe do you havebthe first pass on the SS Theux? Given the type of roads it must be really great to watch!
I'd wondered why he always went through each gear on the way down, then saw he was keeping his left foot on the brake pedal at all times (except for when using handbrake, of course ;) and then realised it was so he could always rely on his rev matching and the dog box ... It's so satisfying to watch, he is so in control. A truly brilliant driver.
Litres of sweat, a bottle of adrenalin and meters of burnt nerves - pure sounds of the car only take precisely to the cockpit, almost feeling the steering wheel in hands. p.s.: Yet absence of radio log makes it look like co-driver is slowly reading his notebook cause rallying is boring to the death :)
Dang! That’s like more Arcade level VR than console. The dash is more static than when I race my sim, and I need to work way harder shifting either in my sim rig or RL E30 race car- I guess I’m doing it all wrong 😂, as I don’t seem to see the driver using a third pedal either🤷♂️
What do you expect? It's a powerful RWD car on a slippery surface, it's the first time driving the stage at speed and he's just doing this for fun, no need to push 100% to the limit
He'll be talking into a comms system connected to drivers helmet plus I think this uploader gets his audio from under the bonnet rather than inside cockpit. All his videos seem to have amazing audio of the engine!
@@silvers123 Okay, thanks for answering ! I sometime like to hear what the co-pilot says. Everyone tend to focus on the driver but the other one is so important too

If only WRC onboards were like this...amazing!

It was on muddy road. Also the car had classic tyres due to regulation. It finished 5th or 6th overall.
Masterpiece Drive
E30 m3 the ultimate asphalt weapon. Bet that drive was more rewarding than any wrc drive.
As usual the absolute best racing content on youtube, keep it up man!
Brought back memories of Patrick Snyders at the Manx rally. Classic M3 sound
Vidéo magnifique, incroyable la manière de transmettre la passion bravo
Wow, I'm amazed at how he's shifting almost all of the time (except from first to second??) without the clutch, perfect rev matching!
i didn't know you could shift without the clutch
@@256k_oh man neither did I.
Could any racing maniac out there explain this to us?

@jonathanvoss5168 10/10. Brilliant and concise explanation. Couldn't have said it better myself. 🙃👍
Love it! The quality of the video is amazing!! 🤩🤩🤩
I really like the course/stage
Another awesome onboard!👍
Juste Magnifique !! ✊✊👌Bravo l'artiste !

Impressive driving 🤩
Will we get to see other full stages onboard?
Thanks
Well why not! Here's one more:

Breathtaking
Love your work Robert. Keep making this amazing content
Fascinating! That car looks like so much fun to drive. Not to neglect its demand for a skilled pilot, of course.
Great video!
Crazy how he's slipping the gears going up and down.

wild footwork. clutchless downshifts were en pointe.

Who's the footage so stable? Zero vibration, that's crazy
By the end of the stage, the car had no rubber left on the rear tires...
Skills!
Fuck! this man is SMOOOOOOOOTH as hell with the m3, him and the car are 1.
The hands!
You have very nice onboards.
Do you have also the last stage theux 2? I saw neuville there at full attack
Love this. Can I ask what camera this was filmed with?
A hard mounted GoPro when you properly set it up without hypersmooth and without going for the widest fov possible.
This video is amazing
I'm loving these inboard productions, well done! Out of interest, as a fellow photographer, what equipment do you use for these productions?
He drives like my mother when she takes me to the store. Her name is Michele Mouton.
Hats off

He does when he's on the handbrake ;)
Bravo ! What camera was this recorded on, can I ask ? trying to pick why the footage looks fantastic, I'm guessing a very solid rollcage mount?
Seems like it’s not just the camera but the whole car- Just floats over every bump without a hint of interior movement- Cloud 9 suspension I presume🤔
Endlich hat er mal ein vernünftiges Auto👍🏆
This was a good run but a little early on the brake in some corner but great shifts silky smooth
Also needs to work on hair pin turns he’s loses alot of time with the first he encounters
