As someone who’s raised 4 people to full adulthood, the secret is to realize that you are NOT raising children but you are raising adults in training. It sounds like this is what Brett’s mom did.

@@tubulartopherThose adults who were raised with issues tend to take themselves out of the equation. They behave in a way that gets them socially isolated, and as such they typically are not successful at having/raising kids. Their crappy values and life strategies are therefore not disseminated to their children; not in all cases, but most of the time "bad behavior" dies with them.

I am 72 years old and my story mirrors Brett's mom's story. The more I listened the more emotional I became. I just would like to comment on how grateful I am to hear the three of you discuss the REAL world and how it is in real time. Many of the things Brett shared about mental illness and drugs I have felt for years and years. I have four children, and all are mentally ill. The lack of real care has been unbelievable and heartbreaking. Not to mention how scorned those of us who advocate for our loved ones, by ignorant people who actually BLAME the parent. My prayer is for young people like you three can succeed in making a difference in this area and get real help for these beautiful, talented, intelligent broken people to get the help they truly need. God knows those who love them have deeply been ignored and in fact, actually pushed against our voice. Thank you so much.

As someone who was homeschooled and successfully avoided the stereotypes...She nailed it. All about the involvement of the parents. If parents isolate their kids will be awkward, if they join extra curriculars and allow them to interact naturally it can work extremely well. Also the parent NEEDs to be invested in their kids education and development. I can't thank my mom enough for the time and effort she put into my sister and I.

@@andrewhren7139 I think it really depends which high school more than anything. My parents moved to an affluent area, thinking I would get a good education at the public school there. It was absolutely miserable; full of spoiled sociopathic brats and the teachers were mostly at the school to coach various extracurriculars and didn’t give a crap about the school subjects.
My partner went to a “lower class” school nearby and had an amazing time in high school. They actually had waaay more programs and interesting class options than my school because they were larger. Money doesn’t always directly equal quality of education, just keep that in mind. Maybe try to find out what current students or recent graduates are saying about the schools near you to get an idea.

Well good for you because literally everyone I know from high school that had kids by or before 21-22 are all single mothers, broke, or back and forth with a very unstable relationship and no direction in life. Just bitter with bad kids 😂 IF I ever have kids it’ll be with the right girl when I’m financially stable enough to raise them, no accidents. People say it happens but honestly it doesn’t have to and I’ve had enough random hookups to at least argue it’s possible without being careless and getting the girl pregnant. My roommate who had his ex leave him after buying a house for her and her child that they got a test for and found out wasn’t his is now in the process of getting back with her because she got pregnant from a one night stand drunk (child was probably with Gma, typical) and when they talked about it and having a test again she said he probably won’t need to because well it’s probably going to come out dark skinned and he’s white 😂 but his dumbass is fully ready to let her pretend that dude didn’t happen and raise 2 kids that aren’t his. I don’t see why he loves this ugly ratchet ass hoe but things like this and the way these girls are nowadays makes kids scary to me. Btw I’m not racist, it’s not that she admitted the kid is likely black it’s the fact she’s completely stupid and irresponsible and now gets to duck all accountability by running back to him and he’s bout to let her 😂😂😂

They did farm work, volunteer work and nursing home work in high school. Homeschooling parents taught group specialty classes, such as welding, cheese making, animal husbandry etc. Our kids met highest scores (99-100%) for HSED, and scored in higest ranks for college/tech school - 2 are engineers, 1 was admitted into nursing school on her homeschool curriculum, draftsman/cabinet maker, accountant, business owners. Mental illness very much exists and many suffer with it. I've leaned right politically for many years, consider myself conservative, and I've suffered with several anxiety disorders: diagnosed Social Anxiety Disorder, and undiagnosed very likely Emetophobia and Hypochondria. Mental illness and anxiety doesn't run in my family, but I believe my lifelong deep anxiety issues stem from my very early premature birth, born at 25 weeks. Conservatives are pro-life after all, I was born very early, have deep anxiety issues because of my birth, so I'd hope conservatives would care about babies long after birth as well as care about the mentally ill and those who struggle with it. But I know many do. I myself care about preemie babies long after their birth, their physical and mental health, and care about those who suffer with mental illness.

I think what liberals see as “let’s not just blame all our problems on mental health” as is somehow denying it but the fact is almost every person in the world struggles with something mentally whether themselves or a family member. We to support each other but we can’t just use it as an excuse for being lazy, or rude to others. That’s what I feel like liberals tend to do. Not trying to say this accusingly because I’m not saying all liberals do that. But most of my liberal friends like to say “oh sorry I insulted you it’s just because my “insert mental health issue”. But they don’t consider that everyone else also has those problems and somehow survives without tearing others down or wasting all their time on the couch complaining about other people.

29 year old here!Homeschooled, graduated with a masters degree at 23, was a professional bowler for 5 years, and was the youngest bowling center proprietor at 23, and I definitely contribute all of this to my parents homeschooling me and teaching me. I feel like I almost had the same experience as Brett and honestly I would never change how I grew up. I would be done with my whole year of school work in 2 months and I would be traveling the country bowling and making a name for myself. My parents did anything and everything they could do to get me out there and be an athlete and show that not all homeschoolers are socially awkward. I loved the freedom I had being homeschooled and was able to interact with all people, young and old. Made it though the shutdowns in California with my bowling center and we are busier than ever and a lot of people in my community come in daily because my center is still family own and my family all work together to make it better for everyone! Homeschooling family here, doing it on one blue collar income. I see so many comments here saying that you can only do this if you come from money, or if you have money, but that's absolutely not true. Homeschooling on one income takes an immense amount of sacrifice and the brutal truth of the matter is is that most people are not willing to do this type of sacrifice. It means only driving used paid off cars, living far below your means, not going to restaurants and not taking expensive vacations, not keeping up with the Joneses. No subscription services, picking up extra gig work on some nights/weekends. Don't tell me you can't homeschool on one income, I know you can because we're doing it. It's all a matter of whether or not it's a priority and how high of a priority it is. Do you want to pull your kids out of the public school indoctrination camp enough to downsize your square footage significantly? Sell a car and become a one car only family? Live so radically different than the culture around you so that your family is radically different than the culture around you?
Let me encourage you, its hard and its completely worth it. Keep your kids.

I went to school for two years and made 1 new friend whom did not last after I was gone from school. During those two years at “regular school”‘I developed anxiety and depression. Never had any issues previously… I think people are just told that public or private school is the only way to socialize kids but in reality it’s the worst type of socialization. It made me so much less self-centered than I was before, I was much more willing to ask people for parenting tips and I had tons of energy to keep up with them. I know a lot of people who are just becoming parents for the first time in their late 30s and 40s and they don't have energy and they think they know everything. Their kids are spoiled and are raised by nannies and the parents think the kids are fine.

Ok, so I am watching this video 3 months post-release after having just finished watching Ben Shapiro’s appearance on this show. Ben hit the nail on the head about something I think Brett and these two young men are still unaware of -he talked about how our habits and lifestyles become more and more ingrained in us so that we are no longer as malleable as what is needed for us to succeed at marriage. I agree with him that our society is waiting far too long to get married and start their families. When you are in your early and mid-twenties, you feel like you have your whole life ahead of you and you don’t realize how putting those things off changes you. I have seen with many loved ones just how problematic it can be to put off the entire idea of marriage and families. We have a society that states the only way to find fulfillment is through your career and that just isn’t accurate. In fact, the older I get (I am 40), the more I realize just how little the dream career I spent the first 3/4 of my life striving for truly matters and how much I wish I had prioritized preparing myself to be the best wife and mother I could be but I too bought into those lies about making my career my singular focus and aspiration.

    • @vehfrfvb2
      @vehfrfvb2 Рік тому +2

I believe what's society lacks in general is self-awareness and consciousness (in the sense of being concious of your own desires and needs).
I'm not from the US or any "real" western country. Where I live the society would be considered "traditional" by many american conservatives. That's just the context.
Me and all of my friends are very different. I'm in my early 20s. I'm single and focus on ny career. My friend is two years younger than me and is getting married in December. Another one of my friends is an Orthodox Christian that comes from a not-really religious family. I'm an atheist. None of us are living our lives the way we do because "society" told us, but because we are aware enough of our own wants and needs at this point in our lives. Despite our major differences, we support each other. I'm extremely thrilled for my friend getting married and I frequently go to churches and religious sites with the other friend of mine.
Society will always "dictate" something, but it's our own responsibility to learn and know what we want from life.

Brett Cooper's huge contribution to Daily Wire is not that she is the younger Gen Z host but that she is explicitly the only Daily Wire host NOT dogmatically political in shows and debate; Dr Kevin Leman wrote extensively that last born kids in families contribute individualism, humor, nuance, and diplomacy to society at large (Kevin and.myself are last borns; last borns hear that "you were an accident" quite often). We used to have many more shows in the recent past that were not so political and antagonistic than the overwhelming majority of shows currently in comedy, news, movies, television, and even documentaries. I see this political trend changing in the future as people at large will find politics in the current tribal sense will change towards much more nuance in daily life just like this excellent broadcast conversation.

She started abusing drugs that were introduced to her by the other dancers. She was later diagnosed with bipolar. disorder. She won’t take medication and has visited her son maybe 4 times in a decade. She now is addicted to meth and moved 4 hrs away with a man much older than her. It’s heart breaking to watch. She was given SSI but it’s only 1,000 a month and you can’t live on that much money. The government doesn’t require anyone to monitor her money. Despite being diagnosed disabled with mental illness.

I've been homebound for a year and a half, missing 3/4 of Junior High due to three surgeries ( 3 Pilonidal Cystectomies). I've matured a large amount, and think more like an adult than a 14-year-old girl. I've been wanting to join a historical society, and hearing about Brett just walking in and placing down her resume is definitely inspiring. Wow, it's amazing to hear Brett's coming-up story, it makes me want to do more. I also really enjoyed the dialogue from the guy in black. Absolutely entertaining and true. Everything he said about having children really resonated with me. Great video, I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to future videos from you guys!

As an older gen-x guy watching you guys, it gives me hope in the younger generation. It's nice to see a civil conversation on deep issues.

A civil conversation sure but there's been no challenge to any of the subject matter so far beyond surface level stuff.
Like no one batted an eye that she went and worked for pragaru? Or why Ayn Rand appealed to her?

Why would they challenge that, both very normal decisions.

@@coledibiase5971 working at right wing propaganda outlets isn't a normal decision. And PragarU especially is propaganda for children. 👀

@@Trekyhunters PraegerU and Rand supposed to be a real gotcha moment, a damning indictment or something? You can learn some great things from these two. It is possible to both disagree some and agree some with people, and find value. It bothers me in todays society that many people believe if you’re a conservative that means you agree with 100%, or visa versa with liberal. @tnghunter youre certainly free to express thoughts, I feel like you’re train of thinking is very divisive. Divisive first, and seeking for truth, second.
Just because Rand appeals to me too doesn’t mean I won’t make significant charitable contributions this year. I find her exploration on “value”, in the abstract, very interesting and worthy of analysis. And I’ve listened to DennisP speak, and what I’ve heard is pretty good (but I haven’t fully explored his entire body of work, I confess). I think he is genuinely trying to do good things.

“What in life could be better than being a father?” I’m ashamed to say that that is not my attitude in being a father. Slowly I am trying to work on that. Good for this guy for having that attitude. Actually, GREAT for this guy!

Brett, I’m about 14 years older than you (millennial), I got married at 23, had my first kid at 26, I stay at home and homeschool my kids and I’ll tell you that YES it’s just as fulfilling and wonderful as you think it will be. No job, no travel, no adventure, NOTHING you could do can even begin to compare to the value and worthwhile ness of being a parent. You can travel and have a job or whatever later. And you’re totally right about the grandparent thing. My friend has generations of young parents and because of that, her kids got to know and remember their Great Great grandmother! How cool is that??

You're only saying this because you never had any other choice. Statistics prove it's better to travel early in life and have kids later in life...not only for yourself but for the well being of the children.

@@jamk2668Stop bro, you’re just wrong. The best route is to have kids at a young age, then once they’re out of the house you can go travel and explore the world after fulfilling your purpose as a parent. You’re guaranteed the ability to have a career/travel life after you have kids, but you’re NOT guaranteed kids after having a career/travel lifestyle.
