  • In this video, I demonstrate how to cut out stamped images using the Brother ScanNCut. I use the Color Me Happy stamp set by Stampin’ Up. First, I stamped the images using Memento Black ink onto Whisper White card stock. Then, I secured the paper to the mat using Painter’s tape because it helps secure it into place. I was sure not to cover up any of the numbers or lines on the border of the cutting mat. I used a blade depth of 5 for this demonstration. I loaded the mat, scanned the images, and added an outline distance of 0.04” around the image. I ignored small objects up to about 0.5” in size. Then, I cut the images out. While they were cutting, I showed several examples of images I colored using the Stampin’ Up blends. Then, I demonstrated how to remove the stamped images from the mat and shared several more finished examples of colored images. I shared the blends combination for each image. I also showed how I store my blends. The Color Me Happy Project Kit is one of the Sale-A-Bration items which you can earn for free if you spend $50 or more on any items from my store until March 31st, 2018. There is also a great deal for joining my team because not only do you get $125 in products for only $99 and free shipping, you also get to choose two free stamp sets to go with your starter kit.

      I know, right! The DX is quiet and the Autoblade works great about 90% of the time. I still love my CM models as well for other reasons. Thanks for your comment.

    I'm a new subbie to your channel. So glad I found you!! I have been binge watching all your videos. I've learned more about the Brother Scan N Cut from you than all the videos I've looked up on UA-cam! Your instructions are clear and very thorough. Thank you a million times over! I've only used mine a couple times because I needed more instruction. Thanks to you, I'm taking it out to play with today! Happy Thanksgiving!

    You should also try using the color lifter to create a tone on tone pattern… For instance, you can color in one item such as a shirt or an umbrella and go back in with the color lifter and draw diagonal lines or a grid pattern for polkadots to make the color lighter. It’s a really neat of it. You should try it sometime!

      Thanks for your suggestion Margaret. I like that idea and I use the lifter a lot to make things lighter like the window of my little trucks. I haven't tried it for making patterns yet.

      margaret ann chamblee No worries. You should see what autocorrect does to my text. I was just using my color on my flowers from the new Paper Pumpkin kits and it made for some interesting effects.

    Great tutorial! I wonder if you could scan the images, loosely color with watercolors, and then cut or would the addition of the color confuse the machine? I’d like to try this with the flower image.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 років тому

      As long as your black lines are well defined and you are in the B&W recognition mode, it will pretty much ignore any of your watercolor washes. However, if you are coloring with markers, it's always best to do that afterwards because you would confuse it. Thanks for watching Becky.

    If you choose an image from the installed files, what kind of ink is used to print it, then cut. Is the ink smear proof to enable water colors to be used to color it?

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 років тому

      sdm fann When I use the built in images, I only cut them. I don’t use the ScanNCut for drawing at all. I use my Cricut for that because I have the pens. They don’t smear. My understanding of the Brother pen holder is that you put in the pens that you want. Instead of cutting with a blade, it draws that image with the pen. My recommendation would be to use a slower speed when drawing than you do when cutting.

    I love your tutorials. But have difficulty hearing you over the machine. I'm hoping when I watch a second time with my hearing aides it will be better.

      Hi Linda, I know. The machine is very loud. The good news is since the time of shooting this video, I purchased a label microphone which I wear so that the sound source is far away from the machine. If you watch my newer videos, you should be able to hear much better. Sorry about that. Here is a link to my latest video. ua-cam.com/video/NkxMI61iaIk/v-deo.html
