Hello it’s driving me crazy I’ve seen so many videos but no one says how to set up design space to “larger then mat” . So please show us how to actually start in the basics part of the video. Thank you. This video was awesome btw
How did you scale your ds workspace ? I noticed the measurements are changed So if I did a 11.5 x 11.5 square , that woudl take up the whole screen and be off monitor
I am so lost. I just wanted to make my project cut on two mats since it's linger than my 12x12. I dont understand so guess i will scrap it and start over.
Newbie confused. Great video. If I want to make a stencil that is a verse, (I have a Roll of paper), will my verse cut in one long sheet? Or do I have to cut/split it? Thanks
Since your verse is made up of separate words, you’ll just want to cut the words and then assemble them onto whatever you’re putting them on! Chances are that your words will be small enough that you won’t need to split them!
@@KarleyHall ahh, thank you. I have the C air 2. Ridiculous Q: when I choose a colored print, ie sunflower, do I have to paint it so it will be colored? Again, I think you are a very clear and precise teacher. Thanks

Cricut newbie here! May I ask what setting your grid is on? When I'm on my design space, my grid seems to be quite a large scale compared to yours. Also, great video! Thank you for sharing.

With vinyl, you don’t need to do this. Just slice it apart and join together. :) it doesn’t need to be two layers since you’re sticking it to a surface.

Hi Karley! Thanks for the video. Do you know of any cricut hack to cut larger than the mat, but not slice the paper in sections? I make paper placemats that take foreverrr to cut out by hand, so I'm looking for a way to divide my image up into sections and rotate the mat so that it cuts a section of the image, but doesn't cut "squares" down the middle. Since it's a placemat, I don't want seams and tape on the back. Cricut snap mat possibly???
Do you already own a cricut? If not I’d say get a bigger machine! Silhouette and StarCraft offer machines that are wider and can cut a lot longer. Are your placements bigger than 11.5” x 23.5”?
@@KarleyHall Thanks for your reply! I do already own a Cricut, but may have to invest in a Silhouette if I have to cut too many more of these things! The placemats are about 13 x 13. I wish Cricut would develop a system to “pause” cutting, allow you to reposition paper, and then resume the shape. 😩 With the use of the snapmat it should be a cinch!
You have to do it in steps. Select the first word group and square and then slice. Then repeat with the second set. You can only slice 2 items at a time.
I just dont understand stand why a moderately expensive machine would make it so hard to be creative. You spend more time “hacking” a machine that just shouldn’t be so damn difficult to create on. Thnx for the vid
If you’re on the mobile app, drag your finger (mouse cursor on desktop) over both images. That will select all of the layers. On the desktop version you can also click each layer and add additional layers by holding down the shift key on your keyboard.
I’m struggling with the slicing option, how do I select both together? I thought maybe holding shift would select both the word and square but no luck! Also I had to ungroup then regroup to adjust the letters to my liking, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it?
I would send instructions on how to have them apply it in pieces! It would be easier to apply in smaller pieces. Most big vinyl decal companies ship that way :)
Candice Squires it will scramble it up, but it’ll only move it to different mats if it’s too big. It sounds like your image is small so it’s just rearranging it on one mat. Are you in my Facebook group? You can post a photo there and we can help!
