    In this video, you will learn how to cut out patterned paper using the Brother ScanNCut. I demonstrate how to cut out the Mrs. Clause and Elves from the Santa's Workshop specialty designer series paper by Stampin’ Up. I also provide a sneak peek at the entire pack of paper and new ribbon which will be available on September 5, 2018 in the 2018 Holiday Catalog by Stampin’ Up! The Scan and Cut we will be using is the ScanNCut 2 or the CM350. I used a blade depth of 4 1/2 for this tutorial. We used Black & White recognition mode. I shared a tip about filling in any gaps with a pencil prior to scanning so that the elves would be cut out with their wagons full of presents.

    Hi been watching you on utube on myd TV. Fantastic video. I don't have a brother scan and cut. Oldish to stupid with technology. Anyway a y chance showing us how to make the pizza boxes. Without a brother scan and cut. Please. I've looked everywhere to buy them. I am from Britain. Thank you so much again

      Catherine, Stampin' Up! is in the UK. You purchase the blank mini pizza boxes from Stampin' Up! I am linking to a UK demonstrator for you. His name is Ian and he also has a UA-cam channel. You can buy th boxes from him. stampingwithian.blogspot.com/
      I just happen to use the Brother ScanNCut to decorate the mini pizza boxes. You can use a paper trimmer. All I do is cover the boxes but I didn't actually make the boxes because Stampin' Up! makes them very well. They are strong and inexpensive. Here are decorating ideas. thepaperedchef.com/?s=mini+pizza+boxes

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 років тому +1

      Oh yes. Works great. While there is an eraser on the back of the pencil which works, sometimes it smudges. I found a "dust free" eraser and it doesn't smudge. It is like the pencil mark was never there.

    Hello! I've just started watching your videos. Great stuff! TFS!! I have a CM350 machine, but I haven't used it that much. I also have the Santa Workshop DSP so I'm following your tutorial but the cut is not clean. It leaves jaggered edges instead of a clean cut. I haven't used the machine that much. I've cleaned and adjusted the blade. Could it be the blade needs changed?

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  5 років тому +1

      Under The Willow Tree Thanks for your comment. Here are a few tips to help you get better cuts. If you use an outline distance of 0.04, then you will have a nicer cut. If your images are not complete, add pencil marks to complete them. If your blade isn’t sharp, use a ball of aluminum foil between cuts to sharpen it. Make the blade depth higher that you would if you are using the flocked paper because it is super thick. Lastly, if the images are not being recognized right side up, then turn the mat upside down, reload it and try scanning it again.

    • @underthewillowtree6389
      @underthewillowtree6389 5 років тому +2

      @@PaperedChef thank you! I've tried everything you mentioned, except the foil ball. I ordered a new blade yesterday, so I'll see how it works then.

      Under The Willow Tree Oh, I feel your pain and have to troubleshoot a lot. One more thing I do a lot is open up the bottom and clean the glass. A lot of lint gets into the scanner from my papers.

    I have the scan and cut SDX225. I want it to cut around an image so that I will not have to fuzzy cut. Unfortunately when I try, the machine will cut every piece of the image. Example: it will cut out the eyes, the arms, if the image has little flowers then it will cut each flower. The image of a girl you cut in your video from a coloring book would be a nightmare for me. Everything would have been cut. I have tried many times following directions from the manual as well as others on UA-cam. What else can I do? I would appreciate any suggestions.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  4 роки тому

      Sorry to hear that it is doing that. I would try enclosing your image with a pencil line. Then, scan in the girl using Black & White Recognition mode. Then, erase the line with a white eraser. Never use a pink eraser. It shouldn’t leave any marks.

    I have a question, I purchased your advanced course and still cannot figure out how to have words saved to my machine and want to bring it to the mat and change the size. I am confused at how to do that. Can you only change to a certain size?? I want to change smaller, which I did but when I cut there was no change

    • @PaperedChef

      Judy Krueger Hi Judy, ok - so after you wirelessly transfer the file to your machine, you go into the editing mode and then select it. Then, you can resize it. Be sure it is selected and then you can scale it up and down. Feel free to ask questions in Udemy too so that everyone in the class can benefit from the answers.

    Excellent tutorial tfs. Will the scan n cut work if you added adhesive sheets to dsp? X

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 років тому

      Thanks for watching Chrissy. Yes, it will work fine. I like to do test cuts to cut only though the dsp and not the sticker paper. The sticker paper is hard to remove so I like to use my sticker machine. Also, I use foam adhesives a lot with these embellishments so I don't like to make a lot of them into stickers. Here is a sticker tutorial I did. ua-cam.com/video/B6EuuZz0Mok/v-deo.html

    If you don't have the the color jpeg images on paper, but have the color image jpeg from a free site. After you perform all the techniques, will it cut out in color?

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  5 років тому

      Yes, you can cut out any image using my techniques. Usually, you never need color recognition mode unless you don't have a lot of contrast between the foreground and background. You would scan in the image and cut it out. I am not sure if you are referring to a cutting file but if you are trying to get a shape out of your image and turn it into a cutting file, there are so many more steps. It is called Image Tracing and it is an advanced technique.
