Such a shame "Planet of Giants" doesn't exist in its 4-part format as originally recorded. While the Ep 3 and 4 DVD recon is great and they got the only two surviving cast members to reprise their roles along with voice sound-alikes, they still had to make do with footage from the existing 3-part format along with some CGI shots for the missing segments. And therefore used the same shots a lot too.
The opening serial of Season 2 and ends the same way the opening serial of Season 1 "An Unearthly Child" ends... ...the Doctor telling everyone to go have a clean after the adventure they've just had lol And also leads into the next adventure where they encounter the Daleks.
The Doctor stares at the monitor. "I still don't know where we are, but at least I know the title of the next episode!"

R.I.P. Dudley Simpson (4 October 1922 - 4 November 2017).
Planet of Giants was the only 3-episode Doctor Who story from William Hartnell's era.
azure rainbow That's only because it was reduced from a 4 part one.
"Doctor, look at that seed!"
This is an underrated gem!
I agree & it had an ecological message about the dangers of pesticides.
I agree, it well done and the special effects worked well
Really wish they had thought of a better reason for the TARDIS and crew shrinking in size, it always spoils this very excellent story for me at times.
Best description ever.
