I'm about to replace mine on my SRT8 2006 Magnum. Only difference is that I plan on putting the car up higher than floor ramps. I am a little concerned about putting my jack under my oil pan though?????? Can I use a cherry picker instead?
I guess you could use a cherry picker but understand that the legs of the cherry picker will get in your way. Using a floor jack with a wide board to distribute the weight across the bottom of the oil pan will be fine as long as you keep the board and jack plate away from the area of the drain plug.
What was the symptoms? My car vibrates or shudders between 18 mph and 28 then goes away.even if I'm coasting and not braking when I get between those speeds it vibrates and shutters then goes awayThe dealership said it was my left engine mount. Haven't had it done yet just trying to figure out what it is
Leo Dickson If you want to test your motor mounts do this. To test the left motor mount start your car, press down your break pedal, and put it in drive. While firmly pressing down on your break pedal watch the engine and slightly press your accelerator until you feel the car bow up. While you are doing this the engine should raise up a little bit but if you see it raise up a lot or if you feel the engine plunk back down when you let off the accelerator, your motor mount is bad. You can also do this same procedure to test the right side motor mount just put the car in reverse instead of drive and remember to hold that break pedal down hard. This Charger actually started vibrating like yours shortly after I did this video but it was because the locking torque converter was hanging in lock as I decelerated down through those speeds you mentioned as the car got slower the vibration would suddenly stop when the torque converter lock released. If it is your torque converter there is a tube of liquid you can buy at the auto parts store called “Instant Shudder Fix” that you put in your transmission fluid but it didn’t work for me so I had to pull the transmission and install a new torque converter. Thanks for the question and I am sorry for the late reply. Good luck.
No they are not. On Chargers / Challengers there are 2 motor mounts (one on each side of the motor) to hold the motor in place. There is only one transmission mount located toward the rear of the transmission that secures the transmission to a cross brace under the car. The transmission mount is much easier to change than the motor mounts.
@@fyireviewsandhowtos3118 I’m having an issue where my trans is rough switching to different gears and sometimes when shifting. So which ones do you think it’d be
@@fyireviewsandhowtos3118 putting it into reverse and then to drive is like a jerk. No engine light is on so I assume nothing mechanical. It also jerks sometimes when shifting. Especially under gas
It hasn’t had a front end hit because it has the original fiberglass front end. All the damage to the crossmember and the bottom radiator bracket is on the bottom of both with upward dents. The car still drives good I just figured somebody ran it up on something. Who knows what happened to it because when I bought the car and pulled the seats and carpet out of it I had to clean out all of the bullets and empty shell casings.
Badass i like the detailed step by step
Thanks for the help! Getting ready to do this on my 2011 charger R/T. Not excited in the least lol
How did it go?
@Wesley Bode wtf?
@@jlo4905 Went well!
@Dylan Maison definitely a strange choice of video to spam
What tool you used to get through the tight space ?

@@fyireviewsandhowtos3118 it was the left mount
I'm doing the motor mounts to my 3.5 engine. They're Is very little room but I dont see what was that black thing connected to the alternator
Luisjuliancardenas I believe you are referring to the black bracket that is attempting to the alternator.
just got the parts in for my magnum, its 108 degrees out and not looking forward to this...
How much oil did you lose when removing the oil filter ?
You will lose atleast a quart of oil when removing the oil filter but this is also a good time to do an oil change and replace the filter.
Are the motor mounts one and the same as the transmission mounts?

What size are the Torx bolts?
My question is, how many mounts do the engine have and is it just upper or low idk if theres a lower
2 lower mounts one on each side as well as 1 transmission mount located at the rear of the transmission.
I just bought 2 motor mounts for my rt 09 are they the same for both sides?
I'm sure you got that answer already, but for someone else reading this, yes, they are the same.
that car has had a nasty frontend crash in its past. look at the damage to that crossmember .
