Toro is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year and they were the originators of the walk behind snow blower. They have worked hard to maintain their leadership position through product testing and design, parts availability and a very strong dealer service support network. The feedback we get from customers is how impressed they are with the overall performance year after year. Snow blowers will require maintenance on the scraper bar, paddles and drive belt which needs to be considered as a part of ownership. Are parts and service readily available?

Upstate New York, just bought the 721e best decision I made for my snow removal 3 stall garage wide40 ft from the road use my truck plow to clear the easy parts then clean up with toro, but ..... I can do the whole thing with the 721 if I choose 100 ft. Of 4 ft wide sidewalk is a breeze it’s an amazing tool ! Thanks....

I purchased the 252cc aka 7.75 hp, Model 821QZE Power Clear! I have a new big 2 stage Honda that I own for 30+ years and still working like new but this 821 has a bigger engine and only weighs around 98 lbs compare to my Honda’s 290 lbs. I getting older and like something lighter and can go faster then 10 mph! The 821 can go at your own pace! So I could do it at fast jogging speed, up to 15 mph. and get the job done faster!

Kyle, missed your post earlier. The Toro R-Tek engine was sold to Briggs & Stratton back around 2006 as we recall. The last of the 2-cycles have now been gone for a few years. We have not heard anything about Toro working on a hybrid 2-cycle like is found in many Stihl & Shindaiwa trimmers, hedge clippers and edgers. While some people understand the clear benefits of 2-cycle lubrication systems, most do not. Therefore, the majority of users look to units that do not require a fuel & oil mixture. Thanks for asking!

Very nice video. The engineers overlooked one thing. In order to remove the engine cover to access the recoil or the ignition coil/magneto module, one has to remove the nuts and bolts holding the engine cover in place--that's expected. But there is a bolt at the bottom of the engine that is too close to that cast aluminum floor to be able to removed all the way. You actually have to remove the wheels (a lot of prying to get those push nuts off the axle), then loosen one and remove two of the bolts holding that cast aluminum floor so you can tilt it away from that bolt, allowing enough room for it to be removed. A better design would have been to use a slot instead of a hole in the engine cover at this location so it could just be slid out once the bolt was loosened. I know the engine was made by Briggs and Stratton, but Toro could have spec'd this minor alteration.
This had to indirectly affect sales and service because dealers did not want to deal with this hassle, so they made all kinds of excuses as to why the blowers wouldn't work properly when a defective or failing coil was actually the cause. After 7 years of mediocre performance from this blower I finally researched the cause and undertook the coil replacement myself. Needless to say, I did not put back that bottom bolt. I'm not going through this hassle again should it need further servicing.

+MrTrashcan1 Forgot to mention, the engine I'm referring to is the R-tek 141cc 2-cycle. My snowblower is the 221QE. I don't believe the 4-cycle engine accessibility has the same issues.

Great machine, my problem on the 621E is since I've bought it, the key will not turn off engine, I have to pull choke out to stop?.

Rudy, we suggest taking your unit to a local servicing dealer for repair. This should be an easy thing for them to track down as it's most likely a bad key switch, coil or wiring issue between these two items.

Would not recommend the Toro brand for snowblowers. Unit works fine, but after two years of service, there is a significant gas leak from the carb. Appears to be a systematic issue with Toro, including some massive recalls. If your model is not on the recall list, you are on your own.
Need to keep this outside of my garage when there is any gas in it, and need to drain or run dry before I can bring it back in the garage due to the smell and danger of leaking gas.

Sam, sorry to hear you have had problems with fuel leakage. You are correct about the massive recall on certain units. This was due to a fuel line supplier providing fuel line that released a chemical that interacted negatively with the seat in the carb which caused the recall issue. The 2nd major issue we see is the pump fuel today causing problems if it gets older than 45 to 60 days even when stabilizers are used. These fuels are designed for the automotive market that tends to utilize all the fuel in their tank every couple of weeks and in many cases designed to handle much higher levels of ethanol. There are many articles out there about the issues todays pump fuel is causing in all brands of equipment. Most of our customers have switched to using fuels that are engineered for small engines like SEF by VP Racing Fuels. A large number of customers are leaving this fuel in their fuel tank all summer long without any adverse issues. Lastly, keep in mind that in many cases, there are a few carburetor manufacturers that are selling their units to many manufacturers. It can be like not buying a Ford truck because of a problem with a Bridgestone tire that is used on other vehicles. We can honestly say that Toro has been outstanding at covering repairs when they are caused by defects in manufacturing, which is what warranties cover. Hope this helps Sam!
