Today we’re going to talk about a trace mineral that can help with excessive blinking, excessive jerking, excessive twitching, and other tics.
There are various conditions involving involuntary repetitive body motions like Tourettes, Tardive Dyskinesia, and Dystonia. Certain involuntary movements can even be caused by taking psych drugs or tranquilizers for a period of time. Involuntary muscle jerks and other tics can also occur from having had damage to the extrapyramidal part of the brain.
The extrapyramidal is a certain part of the brain involved in suppressing these abnormal muscle movements. Interestingly, this part of the brain needs a lot of manganese to function.
There has been research done on taking 10mg of manganese 3 times a day and improving these symptoms.
You may be taking something that’s depleting your manganese or other nutrients, and not consuming foods high in a certain nutrient.
Manganese is in foods like spinach, almonds, and bran. However, these foods also block the absorption of manganese. If you have these symptoms, I don’t think you will be able to get enough manganese through your diet. Supplements might be your best option.
If you’re going to take manganese supplements, you should also take:
    • Magnesium
    • Vitamin B3 (niacin)
    Manganese deficiency symptoms:
    • Blood sugar issues
    • Bone mineralization
    • Impaired growth
    • Skin rash
    • Osteoporosis
    • Higher risk of epilepsy
    • Increased pain
    • Spasm
    • Excessive ammonia

As usual Dr. Berg you keep bringing good information to those seeking a better quality of life.
All the doctors and surgeons I've had these last 25 years: never explained health or nutrition information.
Sure they recommend medications or having surgeries performed. All of which come from professionals: who've never suffered from the conditions.
Your dedication in providing good information to all is admirable.
A doctor who gives a damn and not one who is nothing more than a legalized drug peddler.
" Let food be thy medicine. And medicine be thy food" - - attributed to Hippocrates.
Now then, how long do medical prescriptions (BP, Gout, Cholesterol etc) remain in the kidneys and liver.
Am planning a detox as they compound my health with noticeable side effects. Some of the meds I have allergic reactions to but; am still prescribed. WTH.. Your reply or a video explanation might be of use to many I'm sure.
Be well and keep making good information available😇🤓😎

Wow Thank you great info. **Fun Question Dr. Berg - So if people who have RH Neg blood factors have a lesser ability to process ammonia (para phrasing , so they can hold too much ) then perhaps they would do well to know that manganese could assist in some ways with this . ** This vid now makes clear why for me I only get theses ticks when I'm in some combination of prolonged heightened stress & or are physically worn out . Which of course is also when i can have a blood sugar issue . Cause thanks to your information Dr. Berg, for the first time since i was a young child , I now only have blood sugar issues occasionally instead of every day for decades. Since I do have complex PTSD , am on the autism spectrum & peri menopausal , there may be days when my system just gets thrown for a loop .

lithium as a supplement , like as in a trace mineral can be gotten at health food etc type stores. (Please research well . Speak to a natural or reg doctor though before taking , it can affect some peoples systems strongly .) Most doctors will want to check some blood levels periodically as well . The pharma version used to always be called lithium salts . And they MUST do blood level checks with the pharma version , with that type...because the levels they want to give to people are close to the toxicity level . Go figure

Sketchy for sure. Be careful. All my searches also conclude that 10mg per day is the maximum and that more would be toxic.

Probably since seeds are high in phytic acid, a protective antinutrient that chelates minerals and binds them so tightly you can't access them through digestion. They are present, yet inaccessible as real nutrition. Same with oxalates. Also there are lectins which destroy the gut... more destructive in plant matter. Consider canned smoked oysters instead.

When I see some young people on YT with Tourettes, they are constantly eating sugary snacks and foods. They say their tics are less when they wake up, so my question is, is it similar to autoimmune diseases and would it not be advisable for these kids/young adults to cut sugar, carbs and ultra processed foods? I am not claiming to know anything although it all seems to be close to connected to uproar food?
