    Today we meet Forest, a long-time friend of mine who I have long admired and envied. He has the heart of a true Nomad and Adventurer who is always up for an expedition and to to go overland to just about anywhere and using any kind of vehicle. While I've known him he has lived in a van, Jeep, truck camper and Toy Hauler Travel Trailer. To get him into the backcountry he has used his Jeep, Honda ATV and motorcycle.

    Finally someone who knows the VIEW is the better part of the journey! So many rv builders design their trailers backwards, so that the view is the back of the tow, the road and/or the hitch, instead of looking out on the lakes, rivers, mountains, etc.. With all of the junk out there, Forrest has a great future building these units if he so desires. Really a great design.

    Lots of wood and very little plastic gives this tiny home on wheels so much warmth. And with all of those windows, there isn't a feeling of being boxed in. This is the best tour I've ever seen on Bobs channel.

    Wow. The perfect set up. This guy is ready for anything. And he can maintain it himself.
    I love the large windows, the insulation, the woodwork, the garage, the clearance off the ground, the screen door.
    I like the rounded corners on everything.
    The view is great, too!
    All that's missing is a wood burning stove and a good dog.

      What a gorgeous man, and so humble and warm. Some lucky lady is going to be lucky indeed. AMAZING vehicle. I wonder how much that baby costs.
      Sounds like he designed it himself. So, he is living on the road. He must do some kind of tech unless he's taking a long extended vacation for TRUE ADVENTURE. Motorcycle, mountain biking THAT VIEW. The inside of that truck looks like a 5-star resort. His truck is ART.

    • @Edhooey
      @Edhooey 5 років тому +5

      Considering they're not exotic in America, NPR's aren't all that pricey. Even when you factor in the material for building the camper and converting the truck to 4x4, he probably didn't spend much more than your average off-the-shelf RV, yet he pretty much has the same off-road capability of some $100K+ Earthroamer-type rig. Certainly not cheap by converted school bus standards, but I'd bet it's cheap by expedition truck standards.
      Awesome truck Forrest! Extremely well done! I really dig the natural wood, warm homey interior. So many commercially made setups like yours have all the warmth and coziness of a trauma room. I wanted to settle down with a book and a beer just watching this video!

    • @kimosmer9711
      @kimosmer9711 4 роки тому

      @@Edhooey I agree! Plus with solar he gets free electricity! So he saves on that. I'm sure his stove and hot water heater are ran with propane, which 8snt all that exspensive and he doesn't have to pay rent!

    Outstanding layout and build!!! Forest really needs to seriously consider some sort of profit making venture from this build. At the very least make a deal with someone who can create a set of building plans which Forest could copyright and then sell at a reasonable price. I'm sure that someone who has seen this video has the same idea and it would be a shame if someone other than Forest were to profit from his outstanding design and hard work.

  • @germanevision
    @germanevision 6 років тому

    This fellow is so reticent, a man of few words but his work is exemplary. What is remarkable about his rig is that everything that he did goes against convention. He has deliberately kept the heavy bed, water tank and bike in the front to help driving. No black tank and limited usage of grey tank. I always wondered why can't we allow grey water out on to the ground instead of a holding tank if you are going to use it only in the wilderness. I would even go to the extent of saying why not use portable toilets with plastic bags than use composting toilets just to make your life easier during your travel. Amazing guy! His work speaks louder than his words. Thanks for the upload.

    • @germanevision

      Just one more point. Why not make the entrance doorway into a 3x3 bath to make use of that space and let the water simply flow out.

    I'm wanting to get rid of my kitchen cupboards, to open my gallery kitchen, at home. And, this Summer, I'm going to have a blast with our utility trailer. Must get a wave 3 heater. We have a propane heater & plenty of air vents, but the more I watch these videos, the more I know we could head South when the heavy cold hits. At 5500', we are at the break-over zone. We get snow, while our neighbors below get rain. One of our neighbors want thinking when they set up their home. All the run off & heavy rain is funneled down our road right to their front door.

    So great to see someone else who realizes one doesn’t need a diesel. Really only need a diesel for heavy duty trucks or towing big trailers. This rig is a “medium duty truck”. I sold all mine and went back to gas. So much quieter and less expensive to work on. A diesel gets slightly better fuel mileage but after the price increase I was not saving anything over gasoline.

    I really like this camper. And I love Isuzu. I drive a trooper and my daughter has a rodeo. Beautiful craftsmanship.

    Beautiful build Forest, probably the best one I've ever seen. Thanks for loading this one up Bob.
