I leave my 1/4" for on for quilting mugmats since they are small. But normal domestic machine quilting for say a table runner or baby use my walking foot.

The square mug rug started at 8” square, finishes at 7 1/2” once you turn it. My rectangular mugmats usually start at 5 1/2” x 10 1/2” and finish 5” x 10” but truly, pick your preferred finishing size and add 1/2” to each dimension (width & height) and go for it!

I ran out of batting so I ended up using some old, not so great quality fleece instead. Mug mats turned out so cute!
