- Lucali is one of the most celebrated pizzerias in the world. The restaurant's owner, Mark Iacono, has become a larger-than-life figure in the New York pizza scene-and a mentor to Pizza Wars host Nicole Russell. In this rare, intimate interview filmed in Lucali's backyard, Iacono tells Nicole and Scott Wiener how he took inspiration from legendary Brooklyn pizza-maker Domenico De Marco of DiFara, and ultimately created one of the most sought after pies on the planet. And later, Iacono teaches Nicole and comedian Chris Distefano how to make Lucali's legendary pizza during a special, hands-on cooking tutorial.

RIP Dom the legend. Lucali pizza is truly amazing... but the real gem there is the calzone. If you go, get a pie but do not sleep on the calzone. Then they come around and refill your extra sauce on the side for the calzone and you are truly in heaven. Also BYO wine and offer Mark a glass.
Seeing someone as chaotic as Chrissy with someone as grounded and no nonsense as Mark is one of the funniest things ever, his energy just completely takes over.

@@prodJaxStaxNah Dave wouldn't get along with them. He's got the alpha male mentality, he just can't be wrong. Millions might know his Dave's and think he's the pizza authority, but Mark is the man. He's the one thats the real deal. He's in the pizzeria. Hes made the name. He's learnt from the best. And he's still a student. On Really Dough he's paying attention and giving every pizzaiolo respect. Anyone can eat food, but the one that you need to learn from is Mark.

This isn't his first time in a UA-cam video. This isn't even his first time on this channel. Hes given out everything before.
Problem is, no matter how you make the dough, mill the tomatoes, use the freshest Buffala mozzarella, you’ll never have his oven. I’m a chef who has “deep dived” into pizza from new haven style “apizz” to Lucali, & everything in between but although close, I’ve never been able to get that perfect texture they achieve. I live in Canada so I’ve never had it, but I can only imagine it’s much better than anything I’ve ever made, because I was never fully satisfied with my creations.

I have seen a ton of content on Mark and eating his pizza/meatballs is on my bucket list. This is a passionate pizza god, and the more I see the more the legend grows! Respect on respect on respect.
It’s SO worth it man. There may be a lot of pizza spots here in NYC that have a ton of hype, Bleecker St., Joe’s, Di Fara, L’Industrie, and yes they are all great in my opinion, but Lucali is on a whole other level. It’s worth the hype and worth the long lines/waiting lists.
Food is so subjective, favourites vary so much from person to person.

The best pizza I have ever had, came from Sal's pizzeria in West New York, NJ, on Bergenline avenue, across from 61st street.
Last winter I was 20 people away from the door at Lucalis when the hostess anounced that all slots were taken for that evening. I'll make it next time!!

I live in the neighborhood and see a line of 20-30 people everyday. 3 hours before opening. It's been this popular for years now and it's insane. He has a slice shop a few blocks away that's no bueno, though.
One of my favorite shows on UA-cam. I absolutely love pizza 🍕 but, we have no good pizza in Tennessee. Bucket list stop for me for sure.
