When he rates a pizza in the 9's, there should be a mandatory Frankie review also. #makeithappen #alrightfrankie
Give this girl a medal
This girl named Jake
Sorry guys. I have my wife as my profile picture. She's annoying.
frankie eating dave's scraps at di fara is classic lol.
Jake Cole this is the most logical thing I’ve read in weeks

@@truenorth5975 she's not the owner. She's the door girl.

The basil is on the side so you can put it on yourself when you are ready, as to avoid wilting and discoloration of the herb.
You think you're better than me?

ew.
Most casual 9.3 pizza score in the history of pizza scores
9.3 and he didn't even know the basil was for eating lmao
Lmaoo cause the owner was in the Italian mob man worked in “construction “
HE GOT PAID
No. Di fara was a hell of alot more casual
@@Heyitzj0sh I'm pretty sure it's intended to be a garnish / fragrance enhancer. You can eat the basil, but depending on the cultivar, your palate could end up all fucked up. There's only a few herbs I will eat raw and basil isn't one of them.
One of the best first bite crisps I have heard. The crust looks legendary.
I can tell you that it is a great pie. Hour wait but worth it. There is a nice store around the corner for booze and beverages.
Seriously, middle of the pie and it crunches like a goddamned potato chip?! Daaaaamn.
That's what I said
@@thomdejong462 Also serves some plantains that are absolutely delicious.
It’s fantastic. Best pizza in the world IMO. There’s a Mexican spot down the street to get drinks & a snack while you wait. Used to go once a month from Jersey, haven’t been in years since I moved away & I miss it.
I can’t imagine how much fresh basil this place is giving away and people are most likely throwing it away. That is high crime.
Same!
They aren’t giving it away ffs
Yep meanwhile I can rarely find the stuff at my local markets when I attempt to make decent Italian meals at home 🤣
If you learn to grow it yourself and become good at it, it's like growing a weed. Thing grows like crazy.
The pizza is probably more expensive to make up for the basil
3:40 that’s the meat guy from Eater in the background, except he doesn’t have his buddy with him.
nice observation :)
I scrolled past the comments to see if someone else noticed that!!! Good eyes sir
That’s what I thought too!
I was about to say. He's visible right at the beginning too
Brent from the Meat Show! I noticed him too!
calling a guy a meatball to his face i love it lmao
that dude looked just like a meatball tho
Fr tho 😂
1:50 The basil is not decoration. Its put on the side so it won't wilt on the pizza while you transport it. You are meant to put it on when you eat it.

I just went there yesterday, and can confirm that it is indeed a monster score level pie. A 9.3 is totally justified. I would go 9.5. It's the style I like, and it's one of the best of that style I've ever had.
9.5 is a rookie rounded score. Everyone knows the rules.
How long was the wait?
@@twilite295 It depends. I would get there no later than 4pm Mon-Thr and 3:30pm Fri-Sun, especially if you want to eat inside (other options are take out or the outside tables when the weather is fair). However, you don't need to wait in line until they open. They walk the line and take reservations around 4pm. You can then leave and return.
I waited 2.5 hours too. Best pizza I ever had

I am a Pizzaiolo of Trevors in Phoenix AZ. Dave graced it with an 8.3, and upon viewing the video I immediately applied and got hired. Lucali is what inspired my love of the craft and while I have yet to go there, one day I will, and give Iacano my thanks.
Let Frankie do a review!!

Yeah frankie do it with ur sisily squares
Donut and Prez would be an epic review combo.
Let urmom do a review!
I freaking love you donut 🍩 lol can’t believe you watch the same videos as me
Literally one of the best pizzas in the world. And yes, I had a hemmorage when he refused to put the basil on the pizza!!!
All of his reviews are of plain cheese pizza...
One meatball bulldog everybody knows the rules.
9.3 should be talked about for the next year. 7 gold medals type score. I always liked how he adheres to the principles of standard deviation for when creating a score.
That crunch with every bite sounds so divine.
I agree with some others....Frankie NEEDED to try this since the score was so high....
“Kinda looks like a meatball that guy a meatball bulldog” is the most epic funny thing Dave has ever said !
That first crunch of the first bite got me stoked.
I’ve been to lucali. It’s so good. Just get the large pie with no extra toppings. It’s super light and I ate the whole pizza and wasn’t even full.
I believe it. Want to go there next time I travel to NYC.

How is John’s bleeker his all time favorite when he gave di farro a 9.4?
He needs to redo johns because at first he said it was a 9.2 then he said 9.3
That crunch starting from the middle rather close to the end, you know its gonna be good.
Great videos and reviews...... hilarious that people take this stuff to heart! It’s pizza, I’ve eaten most of the places you review and you’re pretty spot on! 😂🍕🔥
Lucali's is great. John's is great. For me, Sally's of New Haven is the all-time champ. Best I've ever had.
Lucali is better than Sally’s having had them both this week. Regina in Boston underrated.
1:57 OMG that crunch!!!
I was really happy to see this reviewed. Blown away by the score.
When he eats the entire slice, you know it’s legit
Guy in the opening is Brent Young from Eater's Prime Time
Technically, Pres gave 3 scores during his John's of Bleecker review - (9.2, 9.3 and 9.4), however, in his DiFara review (which he gave a 9.4), Frankie referenced the John's of Bleecker review and mentioned that the score for John's of Bleecker had been a 9.3. Perhaps Pres should clarify at this point what the true score for John's of Bleecker is. Or....not....
I wasn’t as impress with John’s(not saying it was bad) as he is
@@bigd8161 yeah lucali is far superior IMO

You know it's good 'za when Dave and Kenny hold it in high regards
I totally just realized Brent from Eater makes a cameo at 3:39
Best pizza I've had yet. Very sweet fresh tomato sauce. It's thin, crispy, and you can actually taste the yeast in the crust. I think it just barely beats John's of bleekers by a millimeter.
How long was the wait for you? And what hour did you go?
@@josh_zirk I waited two hours when I went, still the best pizza I ever had not even close. Di fara square pizza is legit too with 1/4 of the wait
They cook the sauce btw that’s why it’s sweeter than most pizza sauces

The basil at lucali is one of the great joys of life.

Why does everyone get nervous when they see some uncoooked basil thrown on or around the pizza , it’s even more flavourful than cooked and adds great flavour and different texture.
That crunch 🔥
I know John's On Bleecker holds the number one spot in your heart but I think it was a few reviews ago you gave a spot a 9.5 so you should recognize that is the number one
Good for Mark, we graduated high school together. Another famous alum that year was Pete Nice of Third bass.
Why does he keep saying John's of Bleeker is his all-time favorite at 9.3 when he gave Di Fara's a DOUBLE 9.4 for their round and square slices?
This needs to be answered.
Yeah, this Beantown dipshit doesn't even remember what he gave Di Fara's, & also breaks his own rule by taking 3 bites as his 'first' bite, cheating, then still needs 2munch like half the slice before ready 2deliver his opinion. & this is right after saying 'Everybody knows the rules!'. Dumbell Boston loudmouth peabrain.
He have John's a 9.4, just checked the vid
This looks like the best pizza he’s ever reviewed. It’s not his absolute highest but I think i would enjoy this pie the most.
As someone who is lucky enough to get there multiple times, I can say it’s as good as it looks.

Re-visit Johns of bleaker! Let’s see if you gave an amateur score back then
I went there I got a doughy crappy pizza. Not sure what this guy is talking about but wasn't impressed at all.
Johns is hit or miss. I’ve eaten there 10+ times over the years and it’s either outstanding or complete shit. Not sure why but that opinion is shared by many. I doubt he’d give them a 9.3 again
@@johnhaver1264 Not to mention it was like 30 bucks with a drink ... so not worth. No crunch on the crust... probably my fault for not ordering it well done but seriously .. I thought bleeker street pizza was way better.

John's of Bleecker wasn't your favorite. Have we forgotten the 9.4 you have Di Fara on Ave J in Brooklyn?

well he did think basil was decoration.....
He was trying to hype her up to get her number
"A meatball bulldog" - Dave
Finally had Lucali today, excellent pizza. It was definitely better than John Bleekers Pizza. The basil that they serve is so damn fresh and minty. The Pizza does live up to the hype but it's not because of the Pizza by itself but also how fancy the restaurant is. You should also get the Calzone as well. The cheese on the calzone is super fresh. I also do recommend only eating at the restaurant because cold pizza never taste good when you take it out.
Every review this guy says one bite you know the rules but always takes ATLEAST 3! 😂
