    Thanks for the video. I’m just getting into surf skating to actually help with my bowl riding. I’m land locked and never plan on surfing. But I do love the powerful graceful nature of surfing. Please do more content on surf skates and bowls. UA-cam is seriously lacking in great videos like yours.

    You're one of the few legit instructors ...🤙🏾 just forwarded to my friends since they've just started surfskating. A lot of the tutorials out there are imposters pretending to know what they're doing. Thanks & looking forward to more vidz so people understand the reasons for surfskating.

      I appreciate that! I simply try to relay movements and biomechanics that make sense to me, and have been validated by the variety of high level surf coaches I've worked with. often it's the simple basics that are most effective. tail whips, slides, and fancy stuff is fun, and gets likes on social media, but it's often not that relevant for most of us that simply want to surf better.

    Thanks for this video Cris! I've bought quite a few of your programs and love how you explain the technical aspects and drills. It's captured a few times in the video, but would love a follow up explaining the transition from a committed bottom turn to either a high line or top turn.

    • @SurfStrengthCoach
      @SurfStrengthCoach  3 роки тому +2

      it needs to be done on a wave, as you're dealing with centrifugal forces and starting to surf vertically, or elevating up. a committed bottom turn.. you just hold it depending on what you're then going to do. if a high line, you don't hold the bottom turn long so you can project down the line. if a top turn, you hold the bottom turn and continue the trajectory up the wave face until you start initiating the turn. true surfing isn't always easily replicated on a surf skate

    • @brantrichardson1949
      @brantrichardson1949 3 роки тому

      @@SurfStrengthCoach If you skate on a Really steep street you can do a full bottom turn to top turn. Get a little speed going downhill, do a big bottom turn in the middle of the street and top turn as you get to the edge. I try to balance only on the back trucks as I go through the top turn which is challenging and great balance training. You can work this into carving/slide 360's.

    • @SurfStrengthCoach
      @SurfStrengthCoach  3 роки тому

    • @MrGreen-kq4ds
      @MrGreen-kq4ds 3 роки тому

      @@SurfStrengthCoach i noticed that you throw hands in the direction of where u wanna go , e.g when getting out of turns, while transitioning from being low and compressed to standing up and extending. As if your are jumping. I assume u r doing that to gain more speed and move energy in the right direction?
      I started drilling moves on a carver and straggling with generating speed , i.e: i can compress and apply pressure on the rail with hills , but mess up while extending and applying pressure with toes, same problem with exiting turns. I never build enough momentum or gain speed.
      i don't know if that makes any sense) Anyway, thanks for the videos - amazing stuff. I'll just try cardboard surfer.

    Hi Chris, quick question. I used own an old Carver with the previous version of the C7 truck (it was narrower than the current one). I then tried a CX setup and much preferred it. Is the Waterborne adapter comparable to the feel of the CX?

    • @SurfStrengthCoach
      @SurfStrengthCoach  3 роки тому

      honestly... I don't know. I haven't compared them side by side ever. if you have CX trucks, just stick with them!
