    Just my obligatory “would you ever get into foiling?” comment
    Love all the tips! Simply practicing with a surf skate has helped me carve and generate speed on a wave with a longboard and reeeeeeeally ride it like never before. I’m trying to apply it to shortboard but don’t really have the best waves for it.

    Great project in the makings. Lots of people are turning to surfskating as a surf trainer. Personally, I started with a budget board - Decathlon's carver (Oxelo 540) but quickly realized that its trucks are hindering my turns and you can't really go through cones placed close one to another without ending on 2 wheels. Now, I'm using a Smoothstar Holy Toledo and I'm really happy although a deck a bit more concave might help more when attempting to do tricks. In terms of movement, I feel that I need to put a lot of concious effort to generate speed using the proper technique so I kinda cheat a lot by wiggling and not compressing/extending enough (or at all). Would love to find out more about how to correct that. This also affects my snaps on smooth ramps (not bowl) as I can't get to the top part of the ramp. I mostly loose the momentum while going up so the trick usually ends incomplete. Looking forward for the episodes on tricks as well. Good luck and keep up the good vibes Kale🤙

      I also started wit the Oxelo 540. Within 4 weeks I changed to Carver trucks on Oxelo board. Now 6 months later have a completely new Carver setup. But I did like the fact that Oxelo got me going and got me to 85% of the efficiency and 100% of the learning.

    HEY! This course is "the best", I'm Brazilian, I found this world of surfskate and I'm never going to leave it again! I use national skateboards manufactured here in Brazil like those from Ballon and Chico's because it is very expensive and difficult to find equipment here in Brazil and these national models are fantastic.... I recommend the course but I leave a suggestion here, respond more often In the comments on the course, I had questions about putting together the cone diagrams for training and I still haven't received an answer!

    11:00 - great explanation! Thank you! I've been learning to pump down the wave to generate speed and have made a lot of fun progress this year but I'm starting to get hip pain( right side). I'm almost 50 and it's discouraging. I'll try that compression/extension suggestion. Also, I just subscribed. I thought I already was? Thanks for being a great resource, Kale! 😊👍

    • @droneshots6192
      @droneshots6192 Рік тому

      See if anything i think the penny board helps with my pumping because the front trucks are harder to move, it takes more effort to keep speed coming out of turn which is what I need to work on in surfing.

    Hii thanks a lot for your videos, they’re really helpful! 🙏🏼 I have a question for you, I hope you can give me some advise. When I surf I’m regular, but I’m goofy when I skate. Can’t explain it, I just really can’t skate regular. So I was wondering if skating with the other foot in the front really helps me in the waves because obviously all the mouvements are in the other direction. Should I persist and try to skate regular or is it still helpful if I’m skating goofy?

    Question, I've recently picked up surfing and surf skating and I'm curious about my calves burning. When I surf skate, my calves burn, its a good burn but it burns, kinda like lifting weights with high reps. So the questions is, is this normal and will my calves have that same feeling once I'm able to catch waves and ride for more than 15 seconds?

    Cx trucks with orangutan purple knuckle bushings is very surfing feeling, more like carving on a poinbreak, also allows you to make long bottom turns with steady speed. I'm not a big fan of snappy turns on concrete. I have a toledo 77, doesn't feel as natural and flowy as my CX

    Since most of the turning action comes from the front truck, how much tension (or lack of) should the rear truck have? Too much combined motion of both trucks together would make it that much more difficult for an absolute beginner with little or no skateboard experience to learn the basics of balance!

    I get stuck on the top of the wave. I turn, on the take off, move up, but then I struggle to bring the board down again. I think I don't compress as much as I think I'm compressing. One question: is it easier to practice speed gen on a funboard or a fish? (I'm a 5'7, 121 lbs, I have a 5'10 potato - thick and round - and I'm thinking about getting a 5'4 fish. I find the 5'10 too slow and heavy, though stable)
