Thanks for the video. It inspired me to give it a shot to fix it myself and I was successful! Though now that I read the comments, I believe I will take the route that Brooks T. Thompson recommended in his comment, as reassembling it from the bottom side is tricky with those four coil spring that always want to fall out.

Thank you, this was just what I needed to know! I used some picture wire and blasted it with some compressed air as well. And I agree, don't think you have to remove any of those screws, but it was no big deal.

Thanks for the video. I had the same problem in spades. There is a wire that engages the valve which releases the detergent. I removed all the screws on the side of the unit and was able to see that the wire (which has a hook on the end) was not connected to the valve. After I fixed that it still didn't release the detergent mixture. Then I saw your video, but a wire wouldn't go thru the hole. There are six screws on the bottom (I think you took out 2 needlessly). When I took out all six the top comes off and you can get to the topside of the small tube the goes the the port that you unclogged. The port on my unit was not drilled thru, so I drilled out the hole, and now it works fine. I can't say much for Hoovers quality control. I don't have a camera like you, it only took about a half hour to take it apart and drill out the hole.

Mine was clogged. I just restarted my mine with a cleaning solution made with the water as hot by tap as I could get it and it unclogged the dispenser after a few prime up pumps then I turned on the machine and it worked great. I know now that after using I will flush out with hot water before storing my machine away. I think the cod solution left in the tubing was what clogged it.

I can’t put the small bar back in place. I had to use the flat head screw driver to get it out. HELP!!!

I strongly recommend against this approach to reaching the water outlet. There is a high likelihood that you will snap one of the plastic parts. Instead, you should access and clear the water outlet from the top which is a lot easier. First, remove the clear cover from the top by pulling straight up (there should be an arrow there). Then turn the unit upside down. There are two screws (one on each side) on the bottom of the unit towards the back. They connect to the top holding it together. Unscrew them. Then you can carefully pry the top off with your fingers or by prying with a plastic pry tool, or firm guitar pick or old credit card. Then you’ll see the water tube exposed. Pull it off where it connects to the outlet near the front. Stick your toothpick in there and clear out. Reassemble.

But still thumbs up for the helpful video. Your method still works and was one of the few resources about how to do this so still very helpful.

*UPDATE* Again sorry for the poor video...but...here's an update...1) first off you DON'T need to remove any screws, just pull out that plastic retainer bar using a flat-head screwdriver to pry it...just be careful you don't snap anything off permanently! 2) Now just carefully lift on an angle and remove the cover; there are 2 plastic L-shaped tabs that hold it in place...and again...BE CAREFUL...there are also (x4) loose springs that just sit in (x4) recessed wells...they will fall out, don't lose these! 3) Now use a paperclip or something similar to clean the discharge port/hole BUT BE CAREFUL - DO NOT GO TOO DEEP...its just a bent piece of poly tube and if you push too deep you will puncture it! Just work the wire/paperclip around and clear the hole of any debris. Hope this helps... BDC

Great! After using mine 3 times, it no longer turns on. Total piece of junk. I’ll never buy anything from Hoover again.

Funny you should mention...I have a Bissell Pet Crosswave that did the same thing...this was the fix: the problem was there is a sensor that detects the roller is seized-up/not spinning due to stuff like dog fur (;) and automatically shuts the motor down so it doesnt burn up. The fix was to just disconnect the roller and clean it thoroughly and make sure no hair is coiled up at the ends....this worked for me on my Bissell - maybe something similar? Hope this helps...
