- Fly fishing Negro Brook in the Adirondack state park. This racially named brook in the Adirondacks is about to have its name changed to John Thomas brook after a man who escaped slavey in 1840 and settled in Vermontville NY. (Info sourced from Adirondack explorer magazine). negro brook is an awesome mountain brook that supports a healthy native brook trout population. In this video I am fly fishing for native brook trout. Brook trout fishing in the Adirondacks can be very rewarding and this day did not disappoint. in this video i hook and uncountable amount of native brook trout.

Nice place and fish. Had to laugh when you showed the thicket and mentioned 10’ rod..I’ve done that before! 😑😂 Have a great week, good fishing to ya! 👍🎣👌
Thanks bud
That's a pretty big net?
Yea on that trip I thought I had brought both of my nets and I did not. lol
I've fished this stream and it's tough to cast for sure! There are so many waters like this in the ADK that are loaded with brookies. Tough part is, once the alders have leaves they're almost impossible to fish. Bow and arrow casting works to some extent. There are a few brooks there which have a higher gradient and brookies which make casting a bit easier. Always nice to know the brook trout are there though.
Yea I’ll be going back in the spring and I’ll fish it a little differently. If you have any places in mind I should try for brookies next time you could shoot my a personal message on instagram and I wouldn’t name drop it if you didn’t want me to or there’s not a bunch of access.
Nice trout!
Thanks bud
Seems like there should have been bigger fish in there than those little dinks. Hardly worth the effort. Maybe you're a fly rod purist, but for those more practical, the smaller net as you mentioned, and an ultralight spinning outfit with a bubble float for casting weight and a fly drifting underneath would be less cumbersome. Beautiful stream though and a beautiful day to fish it.
Ur also using dry hands
And no dry hands
You should probably delete this video, your ruining trout waters, I already found the exact abandoned bridge where you accessed the river, never show a location😢
That was on purpose. One because of the litter and two because of the lack of trail. The creek will be packed this year but two year from now there will be a trail and less people.. I feel I t need more people’s attention
@@-fishin that’s fcked up
@@owentedesco3908 I can get how someone would think that but there’s a lot of stunted fish in there because well there’s to many for there food source. Also there’s 2 access points and 12 miles of access. I want to be able to go back and fish 30 hole in a day not ten on top of that the gun range party spot at the parking area is exactly how we loose public access. I didn’t do it to be a dick I did it to help.
waste of time though......the big brookies are in the back ponds......get a kayak
I have an inflatable sup but the last time I was up it was too cold to submerge the boys. lol also I like catching the little guys on 2wt rods.
If you go back in a couple years and don’t catch anything you’ll know who to blame
Yea so that’s impossible… there 12 miles of fishing access with two access points and no trails…. Hopefully people will make a trail past the first hole. Lol
The thing is, not naming or hot spotting small creeks regardless is the ethical choice. Nice country you got there but when you set the example of naming the spots in your content, other content providers do the same... even if - like out west - fisheries can't hold up to the fishing traffic - this kind of thing is hammering the creeks out west they are getting loved to death on the back of YT. Something to think about - tight lines.
