Advancing Drag and Drop

  • Hi everyone,
    This is the method of advancing the quilt I use. I like it because I don't have to put the needle down and roll my quilt and machine together. I also like this method because it is how I reposition my design if something happens and I forget to hit "DROP" when I am advancing, or if I have to shut down and come back to a project. If I have to be really precise, I use the Handi Quilter needle down method, but since I like designs that don't touch, this one works for me.
    Thank you so much for watching!

    I’ve struggled with Prostitcher for the last 3 years and after watching your simple, to the point, no nonsense tutorials I finally completed my first edge to edge without any swearing, tantrums or issues! I was able to set it up, stitch it out and even crop the bottom! Thank you for making it simple! Looking forward to watching all of your videos!

    This video was of so much use to me yesterday as I tackled my first quilt using Prostitcher. Your step-by-step instructions were easy to follow and made advancing to a new row easy (I did watch part of the video multiple times ... once per row but better to rewatch to ensure I did things correctly ....)

    So happy to see the drag and drop technique demonstrated. I was so excited when my Amara actually started the second row in the right place! I had a hard time wrapping my head around how to advance the quilt and get the next rows started in the right spot! Thanks so much!

    Thanks for the demo on how to use drag n drop, I hated using it because the way I was shown was to drop the needle into the quilt then move it all to next row. It was so hard moving with just the rollers and I was so afraid that I would rip my quilt. Will have to keep coming back on this one it looks so easy Cheers

      The needle down method is a bit more foolproof, that is why we recommend doing it that way. I still needle down when I need things to be more exact and actually did it yesterday when I was creating an upcoming video. I find drag and drop faster when I am doing an edge to edge that I have created a "buffer zone" in at the row connections. Let me know what you think, it does take a bit of getting used to.

    I did everything you did and the design never moved. I tried it 4 times exactly as you did. Still nothing changed. Its not surprising… I continue to have issues with the software glitches.
    I ended up canceling out, manually moving the area and design up in modify, so the next row would start where it was supposed to.

    • @adamsewfun.

      You can use the reposition nudge function to shift the design some. It can be off for a number of reasons, so you have to be careful that shifting one point isn’t going to mess up another. I always pin my tops so I don’t have much drift, but fabric is fluid and the machine naturally will push and shift fabric to the right when stitching. Basting the edges will help with this.

      It sounds like you have some kind of motor error. After you reconnect your motors, your Pro-Stitcher Universe is different. You need to reposition the design yo your crosshairs, you always bring things to your crosshairs, not the other way around. I have a video called something like reposition after a thread break that will help you.

I use the needle down and roll method, and it works for me, but I've "rolled" the quilt/needle down on occasion and forgotten to unlatch the front bar. • @adamsewfun.

      I don’t. It’s very easy to set those up though. On the machine screen, where you can pick the M/R, select the settings gear. Then you will see the star/diamond icon. Here you have drop down menus next to the icons, just make your selection on that drop down. Not sunset you are asking about with the corner question?

    Thank you! Newbie here, and this was so much easier to understand! Question though, if I've baselined, and saved my workspace, am I ok to shutdown and continue tomorrow, or do I also need to save my area?

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  2 роки тому +1

      Your area is saved as part of your workspace, but once you have it all set up and saved, you don’t need that workspace anymore. If you shit down (it’s totally ok to stop and shut down) when you open everything you will need to reposition the design into the correct spot. I have a video called reposition after a motor error that will show you how to do it.

    Did you have to ‘jump’? When I did this I hit resume and ran into the bar 😮

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  Рік тому

      If you don’t cancel out of the stitch out, the machine will jump to the next row. I let PS run through the whole process and never hit cancel if I don’t have to. If you Cancel, then you have to move your start point to the correct position at the beginning of the row you want to stitch. It all just depends on what buttons are hit.

    Hi Adam! I'm so new my machine isn't delivered yet, lol. It will be same as yours. I'm wondering why you are advancing the quilt when it looks like one row covered only about a third of the apparent work area. What am I missing? Did you advance early so you could demonstrate the method? Will it really work only one row at a time? I'm wondering why I need a 26" if that's the case (not too late for me to downsize). Thanks!

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  2 роки тому +1

      I think I made my design 18 inches tall, so although it didn't look like it took up the whole space, I made the design so big I could only get one pass. If I was doing a pass that was 5 or 10 inches tall, I could have done more.

  • @sandratorr4712
    @sandratorr4712 3 роки тому

    Love your method, question when you moved your cross-hair to match the area on your quilt, how did you do that on the screen, I thought it could only be done by moving your machine but I noticed you did that after.
    Also don't you still need to do a new start to move the green start point ???

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  3 роки тому

      I move my machine to get the cross-hairs in the correct spot on the screen, to pick up the spot on the design that I want to move. Once I HST drag, I take the needle to that same spot that has been stitched on the quilt. You don’t have to change your start point if you just select resume, the machine will start at the next start after the jump. That being said, if you are used to changing your start, continue to do it that way so you don’t get confused. Both ways will work.

      Thanks for watching. If you drop in the wrong place or if you are like me and sometime forget to push Drop, just use the same process to move the design again. You can pick it up and drop it as many times as you like. I often forget to drop and come back to notice it when I am checking my points. Find the point on the screen, hit drag, move the laser light to that same point on your quilt, hit drop. Hope that works.
